Marosa Healing Center

Iquitos, Loreto, Peru

Marosa is a Shipibo-family run center focused on the full breadth and potential of Amazonian plant medicine for healing the entire human system.

We are an integrative plant medicine village where you can live amongst our families while being offered the opportunity to heal from chronic illness and find your most profound purpose. We offer comfortable, private accommodations so that our patients have the personal space to integrate their ayahuasca ceremonies. Marosa is not a luxury-based center and does not invest in luxury-type amenities. Instead, we invest in healers with extraordinary skills to give you the best possible outcome, and keep our max ceremony occupancy to 14, inclucing apprentices and facilitators. If you are looking for an experience catered to a western lifestyle, you may want to choose another retreat center. However, if you want to experience the full depth of the Shipibo tradition and the possibilities of plant dieting, this is the place for you. Our retreats start every Sunday and are customizable for your needs on a week-to-week basis.  We offer stays from 7 days to 90 days. Patients that stay at least 11 days will be allowed to participate in Master Plant Diets.

Marosa Healing Center is owned by Maestra Angela Sanchez Rios, who has over twenty years of experience working with Ayahuasca and is one of the most respected shamans in Iquitos. She treats her patients as if they were her children. Her care is not just during ayahuasca ceremonies. She tends to your unique needs by providing many different types of medicine, including plant vapor baths and plant tonics, and prepares all of the master diets for those who are dieting. Her smiles and laughter are infectious.

Marosa is an extraordinary place if you are looking for an authentic and deep experience, with powerful shipibo healers, various plant medicines which are tailored for your needs by Maestra Angela. One of the most peaceful, safe, kind and supportive environments I have ever been, living with the shaman families isolated in the heart of the mother earth.

You are served the most natural food and water, get to shower with rich river water, hear the incredible sounds of birds and other animals, surrounded by living and healing plants and just living with and being a part of the vast ecosystem of the jungle. A proper and profound retreat!

Ceremonies are powerful and deeply transformative together with the plant dietas. My perception of who I am and the world around has completely changed, I have found more peace, trust, confidence and love in myself. It was a seed planted which is still growing and blossoming in my psyche and body.

If you feel a calling, I recommend whole heartedly to visit Marosa for an incredible Ayahuasca retreat.

I was at Marosa two times already. It has a great approach to herbs as medicine. It has four Ayahuasca ceremonies a week, and if you stay at least 11 days you are dieting plants that don’t seem to be psychoactive but do provide extra healing and focus on specific issues you have the opportunity to discuss with shamans at the start of the retreat. The center may not look very modern, but it’s not a problem, I took Aya there for the first time and it was great. I wasn’t in Peru before. It has all you need. Atmosphere at ceremonies is great, number of people varies (2-10), but Maestros always pay attention to you and often sings to everybody individually at ceremonies. You can take extra rapé or sananga with you to retreat, you can share with others too. Maestra Angela really is an expert in what she does.

Maestros don’t speak English, but there’s often somebody who translates. Also, bring a plug adapter for charging your phone.

I have spent two weeks at Marosa and it has been a beautiful, but challenging journey through mind and the world of healers and shamans. The authentic and rural setting doesn‘t allow a lot of outside stimulus to get in, which makes it a perfect place to go deep!

It was my first experience with ayahuasca and I was looking for an authentic and simple place with good shamans. I didn’ want a fancy “holiday resort” with group activities and other distractions. I found here a perfect place for healing. I am very grateful for what Marosa did for me. I arrived there extremely weak, depressed and anxious. For the first 2 days I could not even talk to people without crying. Maestra Angela and Maestro Eber took care of me with love and my anxiety went down, plus my energy and joy went up! I have a cancer and I am aware that an 11-days stay is not long enough for a total recovery, but the healing process starts from the Spirit and the body will follow! I will come back and I definitely recommend Marosa if you’re looking for a peaceful. place without mosquitos. I was the only participant for the first week and this was a real priviledge! A big thank you to all the staff, including Tony, Raquel (best cook ever), Manuel, Joao and the cutest one, Claudio (a 7-years-old boy) who cheered me up with his smile!

Overall experience was good. I really like the food a lot. The people who work and leave there were extremely friendly and welcoming. I felt I was well looked after. Some little things that were listed were missing, but at the end it didn’t matter. The bungalows were good and the bed is comfortable. We had a bit of WiFi and enough electricity. The retreat itself is very nice and I liked the property. If you go there at the time when none of English speaking facilitators are present some stuff will get lost in translation. I went there in off season and was the only one participating in the ceremonies at the start. That another guy came. So, having the place and a ceremony to your own is pretty good. The result of my stay and the ceremonies has exceeded my expectations.

They also offer jungle tours there it is absolutely must.

My girlfriend and me stayed one week at marosa. It was a beautiful experience and everyone was very kind especially Toni the owner was alwas really helpful. We are currently learning spanish so there was a slight language barrier with Maestra Angela and Jorge the second shaman there but Toni speaks englisch very well and translates to the shamans.
The ceremonys were deep, wild, intense and i felt like really authentic. I drank four times in this week and it felt like three weeks for me. The singing of the shamans and jorge was just beautiful to listen to and really helped in the experience. All in all i would definitly recommend Marosa if you want to experience Ayahuasca by Shipibo Family,

I spent 3-Months at Marosa to assist me in healing cancer. This is by far the most authentic shamonic experience I have ever had. It is not for the faint of heart, but the healing is worth it. I highly recommend Marosa.

I had the most incredible experience at the Marosa! It was my first Ayahuasca retreat and frim the moment I arrived, I felt welcomed and supported and this continued throughout the whole journey. The setting in the heart of the Amazon rainforest was breathtaking, and it truly felt like a spiritual oasis.

We worked with Maestra Angela and Mastro Roberto and both were so professional and knowledgable and ceremonies were truly magical experience. I felt a profound connection to nature, the universe, and my own inner self.

The accommodations were comfortable, and the food provided was good and nourishing. The entire retreat was well-organized, ensuring a safe and sacred space for self-discovery and healing.

This retreat was a life-changing journey and such a profound and positive experience. I highly recommend this retreat to anyone seeking personal growth, spiritual awakening, and a deeper connection to themselves and the world around them. Hope to be back there one day for a longer stay! Thank you, Marosa Center, for an unforgettable experience!

I have been to Marosa twice already and I know that I will go again sometime in the future. This should be enough, but I will say more 🙂
I’ve been through quite a lot of trauma in my life, and last year I got to a point that my depression overwhelmed me. I knew that I need to do more than I was doing at the time, and I knew that ayahuasca would be the solution for me. I didn’t know though about Marosa and I went there guided by my intuition, but let me tell you, I don’t regret it for a second. I found at Marosa all I needed and more!
The location, the people working there, the shamans, the medicine, the food, everything was what I needed and my two experiences at Marosa gave me a new lease in life. I can definitely say now that I am not the same person I was before Marosa. I feel stronger, healthier, more optimistic, I love life and myself more than I ever did and all this thanks to what Marosa facilitated for me.
If you are not sure which centre to. choose, don’t hesitate if you come across Marosa. Go for it and you’ll thank me later! I ended up telling all my friends about it and I know that when their time will come, when mama ayahuasca will call them, they will choose Marosa too.
Last but not least, and I know that this is important for all of us, the rapport price-quality is balanced and fair.
To anyone reading this review, just know that with Marosa, you really are in good hands!
    Much love to all!

This center feels like home to me. The family atmosphere and welcoming environment felt safe and relaxed. Between great food, quiet location, connected shamans and facilitators, and the beautiful nature surrounding the center, I couldn’t have asked for a better place to find healing.

I saw the shamans and Tony work tirelessly to make sure every passenger got the experience they needed and wanted. And Jordan was there to support integration and processing at every moment. They are truly wonderful and compassionate people who’s love for helping others is displayed in everything they do.

I would recommend this place to anyone who needs help at any level of experience dealing with plant medicines.
