La Luna is run by Maestro Don Guido Rimachi. The center was first opened in 1987 as the local village clinic by the Rimachi brothers, and used to serve mainly local patients. As time went on the word was spread, and patients from all over Peru and the rest of the world started to show up. Throughout the last 30 years people have traveled to Santa Maria de Ojeal for healing.
2015 Don Guido decided to expand the village clinic into a full-service Ayahuasca healing center with private bungalows for visitors traveling abroad, wishing to stay many nights and focus on personal healing.
In 2016 the new facilities were opened with a different name, but the sacred Amazonian healing techniques remain. Our shamans work the traditional way with Ayahuasca, passed down through many generations.
Today, La Luna del Amazonas is both one of the oldest and the newest centers around. The center is traditional yet modern, perfect for those who want access to ancient healing in a comfortable environment.

March 17, 2026 at 11:51 amI had a deeply positive experience at La Luna del Amazonas. Finding a place that offered an authentic and respectful approach to the ayahuasca tradition was very important to me, and this center truly delivered.
Don Guido is an exceptional shaman. His presence, wisdom, and guidance created a strong sense of trust throughout the process. I felt genuinely supported during each ceremony, which made a meaningful difference in my experience.
The entire team is experienced, attentive, and clearly committed to creating a safe and caring environment. I’m very grateful to have found La Luna del Amazonas and would highly recommend it to anyone seeking a thoughtful and authentic retreat.

September 2, 2025 at 7:43 amWhat a truly magical experience ✨
This was my first time doing Ayahuasca and I wasn’t sure of what to expect. The moment I arrived at La Luna I knew as I was in the right place. I felt completely safe and at ease. All of the staff, from the cook to the owner, were so kind and warm. The food was great, the rooms were perfect for what I enjoy most: being comfortable with all of my basic needs met but also able to feel connected with nature, which I believe is an important aspect of the journey with Ayahuasca. The owner was a lovely human with so much knowledge to share and he genuinely listened and cared about each of our experiences. It was a small group of 5 of us which is another part that was important for me to feel comfortable and held while taking part in one of the most challenging and rewarding experiences of my life.
I wasn’t sure if I could handle doing Ayahuasca 4 times within one week but the first was a small dose so the Shaman could understand what we needed, and the next 2 had a day’s break between them which gave me time and space to be ready again. I chose not to do the 4th as I felt this was right for me and this was totally respected. We had space to integrate but also took a few gentle excursions into nature which was a great balance for me.
The Shaman was incredible, he has been on this path for 40 years and you could feel his dedication and powerful abilities and his icaros were magical. I can now understand how important it is to be with a competent Shaman when you drink Ayahuasca. They do so much of the work with us, with their songs, prayers and energy. You are never alone.
I am very grateful for my experience at La Luna and may even return in a month’s time, if Ayahuasca still calls me 🙂

September 1, 2025 at 4:35 pmA truly wonderful experience organized by amazing people. The location of the property allows for a better connection to nature, and the overall atmosphere allows for a better, more relaxing feeling. The food was great, and the day excursions made it more fun. Overall, it was the people who made the experience phenomenal. I want to thank Enrique, Oscar, and the shamans for all the work they’ve done to help people.

August 27, 2025 at 9:54 pmI had a beautifull one week experience at La Luna del Amazonas.
The staff and shamans where very friendly, helpfull and caring. They share their knowledge and give you the opportunity to share after each ceremony.
The facility is completely surrounded by nature. For me that in itself was very healing. It does not have the western luxery that some of the other retreats may have. For me it felt great to have a break of my western lifestyle.
The participants have a private room with a nice bed and private bathroom and shower. This gave me the opportunity to get some privacy when needed. Even though I had a nice bed with mosquito net, my favorite place to sleep was in the hammocks in the shared main building.
The cook did a great job with the breakfast, lunch and dinners (on rest days).
The excursions to monkey island and the Yagua tribe were very interesting.
I was lucky to have the best group of participants to share this experience with.
Thank you team of La Luna!
