The Setting
We offer San Pedro ceremonies each week in a cozy, private, safe, and relaxing space, The countryside around Santa Isabel, Ecuador (just outside of Cuenca) is stunningly beautiful and provides the backdrop for what is sure to be a profound experience for you, as it has consistently been for us as well.
The Medicine
San Pedro, also known as Huachuma or Wachuma, is a sacred cactus that has been used in shamanic plant medicine ceremonies for thousands of years in the Amazonian region.
It is said to be a plant teacher, and you will quickly discover why as you begin to have a conversation with the spirit of the plant, which is known as Grandfather San Pedro. Because, just a like a grandfather, he can swaddle you with a level of emotional warmth and tender affection that will touch your heart in a way you might not have even felt before, and he can also provide you with tough-love advice if it’s needed too.
The Ceremony
Every day starts with a warm cup of tea of coffee and friendly conversation as we settle into the new day.
Then, around 10a.m. Steve smudges us all with white sage to clear any sort of negative energies that may be present.
Next, we sit in a small circle, and Steve shares some basic guidelines to the ceremony, and then one-by-one, we each share our intentions with the medicine. This might be as simple as “My intention is to know myself better”, or you might choose to go into more detail.
The medicine is then poured in a glass for each person, and after taking as much time with it as you would prefer, you are welcomed to drink the medicine and find a nice place to settle in.
From then on, the primary element to the ceremony is a conversation that will begin in your head between you and the medicine. You might liken this to speaking to yourself silently, although it will very likely soon be clear that the entity you’re speaking to is a very wise plant teacher who is lovingly known as Grandfather San Pedro.
Just like a grandfather, he can swaddle you with a level of emotional warmth and tender affection that will touch your heart in a way you might not have ever felt before, and he can also provide you with tough-love advice if it’s needed too.
You will feel the primary effects of the medicine for about 10 hours, during which time you’ll be given plenty of space for solitude, surrounded by the amazing beauty of the Ecuadorian countryside.
This provides many opportunities to look inside yourself in many different ways, and you will have an unlimited amount of Steve’s support, not only as a warm, gentle human being, but also as a trained and experienced counselor, with specialties in addictions and childhood trauma.
Steve is always within earshot if support is needed, and he checks on you periodically to see how you’re doing. You’re also welcome to roam around the property to find whatever little perch suits you best.
Midway through the ceremony, fresh fruit is served, which is always a welcomed treat, and at the end of each ceremony, a warm and hardy meal is served which really warms your bones to the core.
Finally, Steve provides angel card readings which you will likely find quite illuminating and may provide some clarification to your experiences throughout the day.
The Facilitator
Workshops are held at the Eagle’s Nest – home of Steve Eagle Sewell – who is self-described as a plant medicine specialist and has chosen to dedicate his life to providing plant medicine to those who need it most.
And after a 2-year apprenticeship in Peru, he’s also facilitated ceremony for over 3,000 people and drank the medicine himself over 500 times. He is well acquainted with it’s healing power as the ultimate healer of addiction, dis-ease and dis-order.

I drank San Pedro three times here, every time the most important for me came first, every time’s experience beyonded my imagination, that not only taught me the mechanism the infinite evolving process, but also guided to see oneness and unconditional love and how free will could create the history for the future, before this, my biggest trauma completely resolved, that week in eagle nest I experienced rebirth, all the negative things wiped out, I can say my life’s chapter two began, without any hatred, jealousy, worry, fear, but with 100% confidence and love to continue my journey, completely different one full of joy. Thank you Steve and Darby, I look forward to coming back some day!

June 2, 2017 at 1:22 pmExcellent place to discover&work with San Pedro. This is a powerful medicine with many lessons to teach.
I spent two nights at the center and drank two days on a row. The place is very well choosen, there are pace and magic coming out from the andes, and the facilitators always approach with a smile and will to help with teas, blankets or wharever is needed.
The night of the ceremony or the day after you can share your experience (as much as you want) with the rest of the participants.
For me, everything was just perfect. Please keep doing this good work!

March 23, 2017 at 3:52 pmMy wife Kaye and I were introduced to San Pedro in Feb 2017 by Steve Sewell and Darby. This beautiful couple were instrumental in guiding and loving us through the entire experience. Steve is well informed about this plant medicine and made us feel safe and secure before and afterwards. Of course, I have to mention Squiggles their dog, who was quite comforting at times and respectful of our journey.
For me personally, the revelations and understanding of my experience did not come until a week or so after our journey. I feel that I “grew up,” matured somehow. Kaye will attest to this, since we have been married for 27 years and knows me better than anyone. It is as though my DNA has changed and although it may not show, I sure feel a lot wiser than before.
Everyday we find something new to talk about and certainly to think about since meeting San Pedro. I’m sure many feel like it is the gift that keeps on giving.

March 22, 2017 at 5:23 pmI felt called to my first San Pedro Ceremony, and Steve’s name came up several times, via different sources, as a trustworthy guide in such matters. A date was made, and I was picked up at my apartment, along with my husband, and two other sojourners, we were taken by a wonderful driver right to Steve’s front door. He and Darby greeted us at once, and I instantly felt I was in good and capable hands. The couple is clearly in service to their work with San Pedro and helping interested parties have a rich, safe and rewarding experience. I highly recommend Steve as a San Pedro Guide. I additionally love how Steve wisely allows the plant medicine to give a direct plant-to-human teaching, all the while providing the space and assistance necessary to a fulfilling San Pedro experience, which I had. My San Pedro was life-changing, and I highly recommend Steve as a facilitator of the San Pedro Experience.

February 17, 2017 at 3:22 pmA few weeks ago me and my girlfriend participated in a San Pedro ceremony with Steve and Darby in the countryside surrounding Cuenca.
With the medicine i found that i had been carrying intense emotions of anger, fear, sadness, and abandonment that i had to let go of to move forward. i recognize now that one of the most important parts of the process of healing is to let go of your personal history. i’ve been carrying a lot of emotions from my childhood that without the medicine i would have been unable to confront. I’m also in the process of letting go of the pressures that my parents put onto me. For me the medicine was tough because there was a lot prohibiting my love for myself and for every other being in the world and it showed me i couldn’t live without that love anymore. The time since the ceremony has been transformative for me and i can feel that love growing within me everyday. everyday my mind is more in tune with my heart. plant medicine with the right guide is beautiful process because the heightened consciousness doesn’t let you return to how you were.
I understand now that my chronic problems with my throat and nose were rooted deeply in a dis-ease of my spirit. everyday those parts of my body are healing as i let go of stubborn resentment, learn how to speak like a free man, and remember that i love and accept this life and i’m not a victim. my soul is never permanently scarred.
Steve was fundamental in helping me understand everything i’ve just described and i look forward to continuing the journey with him in the future. there was a moment when i didn’t know how to move forward with what i had seen and felt and i remember steve said “with love.” it was a pivotal moment in my life as i remembered that’s all i got to give.
my time with the medicine was unique but it served my intentions to heal what i needed to heal. if you are open to the medicine it will help you with whatever you need help with. i’m blessed to have found San Pedro Steve and Darby.

Just as promised, San Pedro brought up things from my childhood that I didn’t even realise had affected so many aspects of my life. Within several hours, under Steve and Darbys guidance, I found closure for something that didn’t even come up once with 6 months of seeing a psychologist. We felt very safe in the space, the dog was adorable, and they did everything to look after us. I will defintely be coming back, and highly recomend this to everyone.

My experience with San Pedro happened in September 2016. I must admit that it was something great, fantastic and very enriching. Especially for the help and guidance of really wonderful people, besides that we were always in the company of Squiggles. So far I am very grateful for all that San Pedro could show me. I remember everything around me took on a beautiful glow and contact with nature filled me with much peace; Peace that I can feel so far with just remembering the moment of the ceremonies. The generosity of nature has no limits and I was able to experience it with great intensity. In my memory is recorded beautiful memories and an experience that I hope to return to live. Steve is a great facilitator in that he gives you space to show up and be yourself. There is no judgement or shame in his space. With that said, you are not completely left to your own devices. He is always available on the side to assist you with whatever you’re working through.
I felt completely protected within the container he creates. He also ferments his brew in a particular way, which I found incredibly interesting and effective. It was definitely alive!
After the ceremony ended, we drew angel cards which I felt was a nice closing touch to summarize the experience.
All in all, the space Steve created is perfectly conducive for a true medicine journey. I highly recommend him. There’s no dance of egos. You will feel deeply supported in getting in touch with your source with no intrusion.

November 4, 2016 at 8:51 amI had been suffering from health issues for many years when I decided that doing San Pedro may be the answer I was looking for. I am so happy that I decided to follow my intuition because it was exactly what I needed and it has helped me to completely change my life. San Pedro allowed me to access my sub-conscious and with Steve’s guidance I was able to figure out why I was feeling at dis-ease and it provided me the tools I needed to begin changing my negative way of thinking.
Steve is so in tune with the medicine and really helped me navigate through the experience. He always showed up at the perfect times when I needed an anchor or felt lost and confused. He asked me the right questions and helped me to gain insight into feelings and thoughts I never would have realized I had because they were buried so deep within me. He helped me to work through childhood trauma and to release a lot of negative emotions.
The most important thing the medicine has taught me is how to love myself and be open to receiving love. I found my soul mate shortly after my fourth ceremony and cannot express how fortunate I feel to have found someone who loves me unconditionally and fills my life with so much joy. I am still astounded that I was able to do so much work within such a short amount of time that otherwise would have probably taken me a lifetime of therapy to accomplish.
I am feeling a lot healthier, more spiritual, open-minded and in control of my life as a result of having done SP. The medicine and Steve’s teachings have stayed with me and I am continually working on improving myself by changing my old patterns of thinking and behaving. Of course it is a work in progress and although it can be difficult and challenging sometimes, I am enjoying the process and know that I will continue to heal and grow. Words truly cannot express what a transformational experience this has been and I will be forever grateful.
