We offer San Pedro ceremonies each week in a cozy, private, safe, and relaxing space, The countryside around Santa Isabel, Ecuador (just outside of Cuenca) is stunningly beautiful and provides the backdrop for what is sure to be a profound experience for you, as it has consistently been for us as well.
San Pedro, also known as Huachuma or Wachuma, is a sacred cactus that has been used in shamanic plant medicine ceremonies for thousands of years in the Amazonian region.
It is said to be a plant teacher, and you will quickly discover why as you begin to have a conversation with the spirit of the plant, which is known as Grandfather San Pedro. Because, just a like a grandfather, he can swaddle you with a level of emotional warmth and tender affection that will touch your heart in a way you might not have even felt before, and he can also provide you with tough-love advice if it’s needed too.
Every day starts with a warm cup of tea of coffee and friendly conversation as we settle into the new day.
Then, around 10a.m. Steve smudges us all with white sage to clear any sort of negative energies that may be present.
Next, we sit in a small circle, and Steve shares some basic guidelines to the ceremony, and then one-by-one, we each share our intentions with the medicine. This might be as simple as “My intention is to know myself better”, or you might choose to go into more detail.
The medicine is then poured in a glass for each person, and after taking as much time with it as you would prefer, you are welcomed to drink the medicine and find a nice place to settle in.
From then on, the primary element to the ceremony is a conversation that will begin in your head between you and the medicine. You might liken this to speaking to yourself silently, although it will very likely soon be clear that the entity you’re speaking to is a very wise plant teacher who is lovingly known as Grandfather San Pedro.
Just like a grandfather, he can swaddle you with a level of emotional warmth and tender affection that will touch your heart in a way you might not have ever felt before, and he can also provide you with tough-love advice if it’s needed too.
You will feel the primary effects of the medicine for about 10 hours, during which time you’ll be given plenty of space for solitude, surrounded by the amazing beauty of the Ecuadorian countryside.
This provides many opportunities to look inside yourself in many different ways, and you will have an unlimited amount of Steve’s support, not only as a warm, gentle human being, but also as a trained and experienced counselor, with specialties in addictions and childhood trauma.
Steve is always within earshot if support is needed, and he checks on you periodically to see how you’re doing. You’re also welcome to roam around the property to find whatever little perch suits you best.
Midway through the ceremony, fresh fruit is served, which is always a welcomed treat, and at the end of each ceremony, a warm and hardy meal is served which really warms your bones to the core.
Finally, Steve provides angel card readings which you will likely find quite illuminating and may provide some clarification to your experiences throughout the day.
Workshops are held at the Eagle’s Nest – home of Steve Eagle Sewell – who is self-described as a plant medicine specialist and has chosen to dedicate his life to providing plant medicine to those who need it most.
And after a 2-year apprenticeship in Peru, he’s also facilitated ceremony for over 3,000 people and drank the medicine himself over 500 times. He is well acquainted with it’s healing power as the ultimate healer of addiction, dis-ease and dis-order.
If you want to discover who you are, what you believe in, how to heal, and how to find your path, you’ve found the right place 🙂

December 29, 2020 at 5:08 pmThis was my first time doing San Pedro (Wachuma) ceremonies, and my experience surpassed all the expectations I could have ever had. I was a little nervous in the beginning until I got to Steve’s place. The place by itself gives you the feeling of being at home. Surrounded by beautiful mountains, you can relax and enjoy the peaceful and uplifting atmosphere that you will find in every corner of the place. The house is cozy and has a library and plenty of space to chill out after a long day on the medicine. Sammy’s food is delicious and prepared with so much love and care.
Steve supports you all the way, answering every question you may have before, during and after the ceremonies. Steve, Sammy and their pets create a very loving, safe and supportive container. So even though you have plenty of time to be by yourself, you never feel alone. Steve would appear at the right moment when my mind started to play tricks on me, and helped me get out of the loop. He’s very knowledgeable about how the medicine works and, he, with his background on psychology, has a very good understanding of how to deal with the mind. Although my journey was very deep, intense and challenging for moments, I felt safe and in trust all the time.
If I had to describe my experience in few words, I would say that San Pedro helped me heal old wounds in a very loving and compassionate way. I would highly recommend this retreat if you are looking to go deep inside yourself to find your own answers.
With love and gratitude,
Ximena

December 14, 2020 at 2:58 pmI didn’t want to leave!
I’ve attended a few ceremonies/retreats for San Pedro and Ayahuasca and I have to say this is HOME for me. ❤
Location is very beautiful, peaceful and plenty of space to connect with Mother Earth. Steve and Sammy are so welcoming, supporting and loving during your process while giving you enough personal space without expectations. The ceremonies are simply and full of heart and reminds you of what life is really about. Extremely grateful for the opportunity to explore this magnificent medicine and take it to another level. Will definitely be back soon!

October 31, 2020 at 1:24 pmCame here with no expectations in late OCT 2020.
Location in my opinion makes it unique. It really offers the best for a retreat (and its my first one). That being said, although i may be new, I am certainly not new to ecuador, and i cannot think of anything I would change about my experience.
The team was great, I think they are helpful and certainly make you feel safe.
Ultimately this is about the journey, and I certainly feel like this retreat along with the medicine helped me along in my own journey. The medicine, the hosts, and the location can be good but the magic when all 3 come together. That’s the “magic”.
I found it in lentag.
I look forward to being back once I do my first aya retreat.

October 16, 2020 at 2:49 pmIf you’re looking for an idyllic place to undertake a San Pedro ceremony, Steve’s place is for you. No Shaman ceremonies, group think or expensive ancillary items. Rather, just what Steve and Sammy advertise, full knowledge of San Pedro, a wonderful and loving setting, and an emphasis on the plant medicine and your own journey. The kindness, support and loving environment is what one should have with San Pedro. Here everything is as advertised. A very welcomed experience. September 2020

February 6, 2020 at 10:08 amWas definitely better than expected !! Steve and Sam were amazing people who were genuinely concerned about the San Pedro experience and and how it helped me .
The location is my new definition of heaven as it is on top of a mountain with incredible views. The house and grounds are immaculately kept and were so comfortable I found it hard to leave.
All in all my Ceremony Experience was so great that I look forward to returning .
On another note, my physical well being the next day was better than it has been in years.I actually felt 20 years younger and all of my aches ands pains seemed to have disappeared . A couple of days now and I still feel like a million bucks!!
My conversations with San Pedro were inspiring and definitely a spiritual growth experience that I am sure will help me throughout my life .
Thank you Steve, Sammy and San Pedro!!
