Before coming to Rythmia, I knew very little about ayahuasca. Years earlier, a friend had gone through a similar program in Peru, and I clearly remembered how much it had helped her. (when nothing else did)

I arrived at a low point in my life. I had just ended a four-year relationship and felt constantly lost and joyless. I was drinking a lot and doing anything I could to keep my mind distracted. I had even pushed past my own resistance and tried professional psychological help, but it didn’t seem to reach what I was carrying. Coming here felt like a long shot at feeling content with myself again, but I knew I had to try.

So I did. I went in October last year with no expectations and very low morale. What I lived through in just seven days is hard to put into words.

Even apart from the ceremonies, the resort and the staff are incredible. It sits in the lush green countryside, a short distance from the beach, and the sounds of birds and monkeys carry through the day. The air is clean, the food is delicious, and the staff are some of the friendliest people you’ll ever meet. Nearly everyone I talked to said some version of the same thing: “I’m so glad I made this trip.”

Then came the ceremonies, Monday through Thursday. I’m not exaggerating when I say we were prepared in every way: emotionally, logistically, and in the setting itself. Each night had its own character and worked through different emotions I’d been holding onto. I learned to accept and let go, over and over, until I felt the bliss of it all: the joy of forgiving myself and everyone who had hurt me, and a deep gratitude for life. I’ll never forget standing outside the maloca after Thursday night’s yagé ceremony, crying with happiness.

I can’t recommend Rythmia enough. I felt supported, cared for, heard, and healed.
