There are times when life can feel like a series of repetitive cycles, and the pathways of certain habits only leave us feeling more stuck and unfulfilled. We can begin to rely on things like alcohol, substances, food, and technology to cope and temporarily shift our state of being.

At some point, we reach a threshold, where the desire for a shift is greater than staying in the familiarity of what is.

Beyond the cycles, beyond the habits, the loops, and the patterns, lies an answer waiting to be seen.

With ancestral ceremonial practices and plant medicines, we have the opportunity to approach our healing and our wellness in a profoundly unique, therapeutic, and transformative way.

Ayahuasca: There is an innate wisdom within this Medicine that allows one to connect deeply into the soul, uncovering layers that might not otherwise be seen in our daily lives. The journey allows you to work through past experiences and their emotional hold, through traumas, through what lies ahead for your future – all removed from the typical lens that the mind is seeing things through. It is truly integrative approach to healing that liberates the past and inspires with clarity for the future. It is said that one night with Ayahuasca is the equivalent of 10 years of therapy in terms of what it does for the neurotransmitters in the brain.

Kambo: This powerful Medicine is a healer of the physical body, bringing balance to the system through detoxification. There is an undeniable cleansing of the mental / emotional body that happens through the process as well, making this a beautiful and complementary addition to working with the Ayahuasca.

Temazcal/sweatlodge: This ancient technology is used to start off the retreat week, to step into the power of surrender, of release, of purification. A deep journey, centered around fire and volcanic stone, brings you into the womb of the earth to show you your true inner Warrior.

These are just some of the practices we utilize at Open Paths Retreat, all modalities weaving together to create a perfectly curated week of transformative experiences held by expert facilitators with immense compassion and care.

In tandem with the ceremonial work comes the highest quality of delicious, healthy meals. Part of the process of rewiring pathways comes with nourishing ourselves on all levels, and through the retreat week, we will learn the best ways to support this going forward in our daily lives.

Here in Costa Rica, we are blessed with so much natural beauty, just being on these lands is healing, as nature abounds with her lessons to teach us if we are ready to listen. The intertwining of Costa Rica’s motto, “Pura Vida” (pure life), and the work with such sacred and ancient plant Medicine, is part of what makes the experience of a retreat here so special. The crystalline healing waters of the rivers and springs in this area, combined with the majesty of the forest all around, truly creates the ideal container for opening to this healing work and then soaking it all in.

Being able to unlock ourselves from what burdens us not only helps us tremendously in the present moment and moving forward with our lives, but it also has a profoundly important impact on the lives of those around us. This is part of the ripple effect of healing that the world so desperately needs, and at Open Paths Retreat we are committed to being part of the change we wish to see happen in the world. We look forward to receiving you with so much joy and presence and are here to support you every step of the way.

Open Paths Retreat is an authentic and deeply transformative journey. Nicole holds a compassionate, grounded, and safe container that invites guests to look within and recognize the true potential of their spirit. The temple sanctuary, consecrated land, and mighty jungle create a timeless ceremonial space that powerfully supports the healing work of the sacred medicine.

A truly transformative experience, curated with care and intention every step of the way.

Before I even signed up, Nicole, one of our wonderful hosts, took the time to connect with me personally. She hopped on calls (more than once, if needed) not only to share details about the retreat but also to ease any hesitations and answer every question with patience and kindness. From the very beginning, I felt that magnetic pull – that gut feeling this experience was meant for me – and I couldn’t imagine better guides than Nicole and Dan to walk this path with.

From the moment I landed in Costa Rica until my return flight home, every detail was handled seamlessly. Communication was clear, travel logistics were effortless, and I felt completely cared for. Nicole has a true gift for hospitality and an incredible ability to curate experiences that feel both personal and intentional.

The accommodations at Rama Organica are every bit as beautiful as the photos suggest: cozy, charming, and perfectly in tune with the natural surroundings. The food throughout the retreat was fresh, nourishing, and absolutely delicious, providing the perfect foundation for anyone looking to reset and eat clean.

The heart of the journey, of course, was the plant medicines. They provided a deep cleansing of mind, body, and spirit, beautifully complemented by the Temazcal and Kambo ceremonies. Add in a breathtaking jungle hike to one of the most stunning waterfalls I’ve ever seen, a sound bath led by a goddess with the most beautiful voice, and the magic of being surrounded by open-hearted, wonderful people in such a sacred place, and it all felt beyond words.

I cannot recommend this journey with Open Paths highly enough. If you’ve made it this far reading reviews, trust that inner voice – you are here for a reason, and this experience is absolutely meant for you.

I had the privilege of attending a healing retreat in April 2024 and I can honestly say it was an incredible transformative experience. From the moment I contacted Nicole, I felt an overwhelming sense of safety and care that truly set this retreat apart from others. It offered a perfect balance of relaxation, rejuvenation and personal growth.

The environment was serene and welcoming, with every detail thoughtfully curated. The community of facilitators were incredibly warm, compassionate, and professional, making sure that each individual felt supported every step of the way. Whether through personal conversations, group sessions, or simply their presence, it was clear that they were dedicated to creating a space where everyone could truly feel seen and heard.
I particularly appreciated how the retreat emphasized emotional safety. There was no rush, no judgment—just a safe space to explore and heal at your own pace. The focus on self-care was another highlight. Every aspect of the retreat, from the nourishing meals to the mindful activities, was designed with deep respect for each participant’s well-being.

If you’re looking for a retreat where you can feel held and supported in a loving, non-judgmental environment, I can’t recommend this one enough. I left the retreat feeling more grounded, recharged, and with a newfound sense of clarity. It was an experience I will cherish, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking to reset, recharge, and heal both physically and emotionally.

Nicole, is a beautiful soul, that I met on my first medicine retreat in Costa Rica. She has many years experience as a coordinator, facilitator and guardian. The time, love and knowledge that Nicole puts into her retreats is remarkable. She uses compassion, love and presence to make your experience safe and held.

I received the call to go on retreat again, surrendered it to Universe and the first thing to cross my path was Nicole‘s retreat.

The beautiful location is lush, vibrant, tranquil, and gorgeous. An array of accommodations are available. It’s super close and convenient to the temple. Her care and her touches…the way she described every ceremony and prepares you for what was going to happen. Giving you tools and techniques to guide you through. Nicole is always available for talks, for integration and understanding. Giving great insight to your questions.

This community of people will transform your life forever. Nicole is so amazing…you will leave changed. The bonds and the friendships you will make will last forever. The food is so healthy and prepared with love. The wildlife, the monkeys, the waterfalls, the ocean…you really just need to experience it for yourself. If you have the calling, you know you have the calling…and this is the retreat that you go to! It came across your path for a reason.

These are the medicine people I vouch for, and my list when it coms to that statement is short. If you’re hearing the call to the jungle and the healing – always, always listen to your calling over me or anyone else. It’s a wild world out there and I like to make sure people go where they’ll be safe and taken care of. This center has that level of integrity for me, people who walk the walk in their daily lives of service to the planet, the forest, the waters, safe hearts with lots of experience. Highly recommend.
