Marosa Healing Center is a family-led, Shipibo-run plant medicine retreat for those seeking deep healing, personal transformation, and a genuine connection to traditional Amazonian medicine. Whether you’re navigating chronic illness, emotional challenges, or a call toward spiritual alignment, we offer a grounded, supportive environment to do that work safely and intentionally.
Our retreat is designed for people who want more than a surface-level experience. Here, you’re not just attending ceremonies—you’re stepping into a living tradition. Guests are welcomed into a small, heart-centered community where healing unfolds through ayahuasca ceremonies, plant diets, and daily connection with the jungle.
We intentionally keep our groups small (maximum 14 guests) so each person receives real attention, care, and space for integration. Accommodations are simple, private, and comfortable—created to support rest, reflection, and deep internal work.
Rather than focusing on luxury amenities, we prioritize the quality of care. Our team includes highly experienced Shipibo healers with decades of practice, guiding each process with precision, integrity, and compassion.
This may not be the right place if you’re seeking a luxury retreat or a casual experience. But if you feel called to work deeply with authentic Shipibo medicine—especially through traditional plant dieting—you’ll find a meaningful and supportive home here.
Retreats begin every Sunday and Wednesday, with flexible scheduling based on your intentions. Whether you’re joining for a shorter stay or committing to longer, immersive work, we’re here to meet you where you are.
Marosa Healing Center is led by Maestra Angela Sanchez Rios, a highly respected Shipibo healer with over 25 years of experience working with ayahuasca and Amazonian plant medicine.
Known for her warmth, presence, and deep level of care, Maestra Angela works closely with each guest, tending not only to the ceremonial space but to the full healing process. Her approach includes a range of traditional practices such as plant vapor baths, personalized plant remedies, and the preparation and guidance of master plant diets.
Her work is rooted in both strength and compassion—holding each person with the same level of attention and care she would offer her own family.

September 10, 2023 at 5:50 amI had the most incredible experience at the Marosa! It was my first Ayahuasca retreat and frim the moment I arrived, I felt welcomed and supported and this continued throughout the whole journey. The setting in the heart of the Amazon rainforest was breathtaking, and it truly felt like a spiritual oasis.
We worked with Maestra Angela and Mastro Roberto and both were so professional and knowledgable and ceremonies were truly magical experience. I felt a profound connection to nature, the universe, and my own inner self.
The accommodations were comfortable, and the food provided was good and nourishing. The entire retreat was well-organized, ensuring a safe and sacred space for self-discovery and healing.
This retreat was a life-changing journey and such a profound and positive experience. I highly recommend this retreat to anyone seeking personal growth, spiritual awakening, and a deeper connection to themselves and the world around them. Hope to be back there one day for a longer stay! Thank you, Marosa Center, for an unforgettable experience!

August 31, 2023 at 3:35 pmI have been to Marosa twice already and I know that I will go again sometime in the future. This should be enough, but I will say more 🙂
I’ve been through quite a lot of trauma in my life, and last year I got to a point that my depression overwhelmed me. I knew that I need to do more than I was doing at the time, and I knew that ayahuasca would be the solution for me. I didn’t know though about Marosa and I went there guided by my intuition, but let me tell you, I don’t regret it for a second. I found at Marosa all I needed and more!
The location, the people working there, the shamans, the medicine, the food, everything was what I needed and my two experiences at Marosa gave me a new lease in life. I can definitely say now that I am not the same person I was before Marosa. I feel stronger, healthier, more optimistic, I love life and myself more than I ever did and all this thanks to what Marosa facilitated for me.
If you are not sure which centre to. choose, don’t hesitate if you come across Marosa. Go for it and you’ll thank me later! I ended up telling all my friends about it and I know that when their time will come, when mama ayahuasca will call them, they will choose Marosa too.
Last but not least, and I know that this is important for all of us, the rapport price-quality is balanced and fair.
To anyone reading this review, just know that with Marosa, you really are in good hands!
Much love to all!

August 20, 2023 at 9:03 pmThis center feels like home to me. The family atmosphere and welcoming environment felt safe and relaxed. Between great food, quiet location, connected shamans and facilitators, and the beautiful nature surrounding the center, I couldn’t have asked for a better place to find healing.
I saw the shamans and Tony work tirelessly to make sure every passenger got the experience they needed and wanted. And Jordan was there to support integration and processing at every moment. They are truly wonderful and compassionate people who’s love for helping others is displayed in everything they do.
I would recommend this place to anyone who needs help at any level of experience dealing with plant medicines.

June 27, 2023 at 12:23 amI’ve absolutely loved my experiences here at Marosa and can’t wait to go back! As soon as my flight arrived to Iquitos Tony (one of the host) was at the airport to pick me up. It was so nice to show up and not have to stress about a single thing.
Marosa is really a safe and beautiful place for healing and just focusing on yourself. It’s an awesome environment because everyone is there for similar reasons. The ceremonies are so special and the energy and experience the shamans bring with their Icaros is one of the most powerful things I’ve experienced. The shamans are amazing at being able to connect with you on another level. They are able to help when you need it and guide you through your ceremonies to have the most beneficial experiences.
As soon as I showed up it felt like I was home. The location is amazing and you are really able to connect with nature. The food was delicious and probably the freshest I’ve ever eaten. I can’t wait to go back again and continue my journey with ayahuasca.
Ayahuasca doesn’t always give you what you want but it’s what you need.

June 23, 2023 at 10:55 amBonjour, hola, hello… My name is Sandrine and I spent three weeks at Marosa during May 2023. This was my first Ayahuasca retreat and I give my review a five star rating for the following reasons: I was looking for a small retreat. I did not wish to be with a large group of people and Marosa caters to small groups. It was crucial for me that the money I spent for the retreat would strictly go to the Shipibo community. Marosa is owned by a Shipibo family. I am an anthropologist and, of course, strongly believe in helping indigenous groups. I was curious about Ayahuasca and Shipibo culture from an anthropological standpoint as well as a personal one. My quest was to dig deeper in some past trauma that has been showing its ugly face from time to time. I knew that spending time in a place like Marosa would only help in my healing and my personal path. As a woman who travels alone, I also pay much attention to safety. The day I landed at Iquitos and I saw Angela, Tony and Angela’s daughter all waiting for me outside the airport I knew I was in safe hands, I knew I was in my Shipibo family. Angela took care of me as if I was her daughter. I had much time spent with her… talking… explaining to her my goals and my issues. I had never done Ayahuasca before and did not wish to take too much or too little. Angela guided me the entire time. Tony took care of the logistics and I got to meet many members of the family. Their cook and her son were a delight. The food was delicious (something I had never expected since I was on the Marosa plant diet and no sugar or salt are allowed.) Maestro Rafael and his wife Lourdes were like parents to me. They took care of me. Every morning! Helping me with an old foot injury and so much more. My little house where I stayed was comfortable. I encourage anyone to bring little items to make it even more like home. I purchased gorgeous art from Angela and her daughter which I used to decorate my little hut… my stay was filled with love, compassion, laughter, some necessary crying but all was beauty and kindness. I left Marosa with a brand new understanding of what self-love is really about. I call Angela (whom I call godmother) regularly and plan to return to Marosa before the end of the year (with friends.)
