What is Aya de la Vid?

Aya is the Quechua word for “Spirit”; Quechua, being the original tribe who discovered the Ayahuasca combination. La Vid is Spanish for “The Vine” in English, inspired from the Banisteriopsis caapi, the vine portion of Ayahuasca. Often, this vine is referred to as “the sacred vine”. When combined with the Psychotria viridis leaf from the Amazon; we are shown what mother Ayahuasca plant has to teach us.

At Aya de la Vid, we pay great respect to the natural world, shamanic medicine and the gift provided through this plant. We honor the plant in the name “Aya de la Vid” for the retreats we offer four times a year around each solstice and equinox.

What to Expect During Ceremony

Since we all live through a unique personal lens of life developed through experiences and culture, each person will have an experience completely unique to oneself. Begin each ceremony with an open heart and open mind to what the medicine has to show and teach.

You will be guided through the ceremony with icaros, rhythmic songs from the Amazon, performed by the shaman. As the medicine works through your system you may experience a physical cleansing as well as a psychological and spiritual understanding of your Self.

For additional support, you will receive a physical exam prior to the first ceremony. This provides you an opportunity to understand your physical health and how it relates to the medicine. Also, each ceremony is accompanied with a medical doctor on-site.

Preparation for Your Retreat

To best connect with the medicine a slight fasting is required 72 hours before the first ceremony. For most effective results refrain from:
