Why Avalon?
Avalon is a holistic healing centre in Barcelona and Ibiza (Spain), dedicated to self-discovery and profound inner journeys. Our retreats bring together the ancient wisdom of sacred medicines such as Ayahuasca, Magic Mushrooms, San Pedro, and Bufo Alvarius with modern practices of preparation, integration, and personalised care.
We follow a shamanic approach to the world of plant medicines, working with shamans from ancestral traditions of Brazil (Yawanawá, Huni Kuin, Mbyá Guaraní), Colombia (Kamëntsa, Kichwa, Pastos, Muisca, Cofán), and Peru (Quechua). Our mission is to create safe, contemporary, and refined spaces where participants can experience these medicines in the traditional Amazonian way.
With deep respect for ancestral knowledge, we complement it with tools that help non-indigenous participants gain the most from their experience and apply insights to everyday life. Preparation before the retreat builds confidence and clarity; our holistic programme introduces practices that foster wellbeing beyond the ceremony; and integration supports participants in maximising benefits while navigating any challenges that may arise afterwards.
Set and setting are two of the most critical factors in a psychedelic experience. At Avalon, safety and care are at the heart of everything we do. From the very beginning, participants are supported by a dedicated team, with a nearly one-to-one facilitator-to-guest ratio during retreats. Our team also includes a medical advisor, and we follow many of the safety guidelines recommended by ICEERS.
In adapting rituals that are not part of our own culture, we honour tradition while offering the highest level of comfort and beauty. This balance helps participants feel safe, surrender to the process, and embrace the full potential of a transformative journey.

What does a 6-day holistic Ayahuasca retreat include?
- 4 Ayahuasca ceremonies by experienced (>10 years) shamans trained in Colombia (Kamëntsa, Kichwa, Pastos, Muisca, and Cofán traditions), Peru (Quechua tradition), or Brazil (Yawanawá, Huni Kuin, Mbyá Guaraní traditions).
- 4 Rapé ceremonies (dried tobacco powder) – clearing the mind and cleansing the body and energy field, used in combination with Ayahuasca.
- 4 Integration workshops with a trained psychologist, combining diverse and creative methods, such as sharing circles, writing, art therapy, and ecstatic dance.
- 1 One-on-one integration session – Designed to bring your unique experience into your daily life and ensure lasting change.

As a first-timer was worried about safety, well-being etc. All of this was put to rest by an incredible team of coordinators who looked after and nurtured us throughout the process, before, during and after the ceremonies themselves. Incredible food and a stunning location, as well as easy transport laid on, made the stay feel like a luxury retreat. The ceremonies and shamans were deep, thoughtful and well organised throughout the entire journey. If you are looking for a retreat but a bit nervous about taking the leap, Avalon will make it easy, comfortable and beautiful for you. You really get what you pay for.

All the staff made us feel a harmonious family to share this lifetime experience with: rooms were very comfortable, food was adapted to the Ayahuasca and so tasty, the environment was paradise (a lot of nature, a lake with a small boat, some animals, a pool…)…the massage was unique, my therapist Nathalie like a careful sister and Suzy, with her access bar, made me feel so connected to the universe…
The ceremonies themselves were dreams like….even better…the music and Ness’s voice were enchanted, her tribe sharing their infinite wisdom, the atmosphere and the musicians wonderful, Maggy and Chris, the shaman, so generous….I feel so grateful to the family that I’ve found in Avalon…
I go back home having met the grace, the oneness, the infinite love, the wellbeing and the wisdom that I was looking for….
I feel an ocean of gratitude towards Alejandro, the founder and the entire Avalon family…a new life, full of happiness, love and light is starting for me! Bless you and all the team! -

The facilitators of the medicine are really experienced in providing the medicine and holding the sacred space for the people in their individual processes catering to whatever needs they have. In addition, they provide the clarity and context needed for the healing to occur. The support surrounding the whole experience: from the love and the thought that the Avalon has provided for the people participating is more then recommended. You will join not knowing a single person and you will come out as a family. Eternally grateful for it.

Everyone experiences something different with the medicine, a different breakthrough or moment of healing unique to their intention. But what remains consistent is how you are embraced by the people working at Avalon, from the Shamans and Guardians who guide your soul on its journey, to the integration therapists who help you process your learnings, to the kitchen staff who prepare 5star meals with ingredients thoughtfully chosen for each specific part of your journey. You will feel the love, care, and intention from the minute you are greeted to well after your experience.

August 15, 2022 at 12:35 pmAvalon really provides a 5-star experience. The welcoming spirit of Sophia assures you right away that you will be in good hands. Then you settle in a quality room inside a resort normally reserved for weddings where many paths lead to the different practice rooms and locations such as the tea room and ceremony area. All staff is friendly, welcoming and ready to chat a little. Then lunch is served, different theme every day, very nutritious and tasty Ayahuasca -compatible food. There is an opening ceremony to orient the group and create initial intent. When the ceremony starts everyone is excited and feels in good hands. There are different shamanic practitioners that lead the rapé ceremony and direct the setting. Then the shaman comes in with several tribe members who lead the Ayahuasca ceremony. After the first serving there is some time to contemplate and relax into the moment. Then the music starts. The tribe and shamanic practitioners perfectly direct the mood and sensations with music that seems to be created by the gods. Just simply flute music or guitar or singing soft rhythmic songs that evolve to sweeping concerts where all players are involved and bring the Ayahuasca spirit out and dancing in your face. The closing ceremony is calming and everyone goes to sleep in their sanctuary rooms. The next day there are integration sessions that bring everyone in perspective and group sharing that triggers awesome bonding and the feeling of being in a larger family – however unexpected that may be. An Ayahuasca wolf pack is born.
Additional sessions involve an awesome massage session that really prepares the body. I did not try the other options but will certainly do so next time…
Sessions build on each other in terms of energy level and intent and everyone evolves quickly and gets what they need from the medicine and each other. Sharing is caring. The Avalon experience ties everything together I sincerely recommend it.

This journey within — guided by Ayahuasca and held with such care by the incredible Avalon team and shamans — was truly profound. From the very first moment, I felt deep trust and safety, as if I was being gently carried through the entire process by experienced, compassionate hands. I was never alone. The venue itself radiates tranquility and grounding energy. Its peaceful surroundings created the perfect container for surrender, reflection, and healing. Every detail — from the space, to the program, to the way each ceremony and integration moment was thoughtfully held — supported the depth of this experience. I feel as if I moved a mountain within myself and closed a very painful chapter of my life. What unfolded went far beyond what I could have imagined. The structure of the program, combined with the additional offerings, allowed me to go deeper, softer, and more honestly into my own process. 4 years agoMy experience at Avalon was incredible. From the moment you arrive you can feel the love, care and detail that is put into every element of your stay. It's a lovely, spacious location with a lake, trees, hammocks, horses and more. There are various activities you can choose from such as yoga, massage and dance in addition to the ceremonies. They also have an amazing chef Maria who plans out chromatic meals each day based on the colors of the chakras. It was an incredible experience that I would recommend to anyone. The entire team made me feel incredibly welcomed, loved and cared for. Big thank you to Alejandro and everyone at Avalon!

3 months agoThis was my first ayahuasca experience, and I honestly couldn’t have chosen a better place. From the very beginning, everything felt incredibly well organized. I felt safe at all times, truly cared for, and supported in a very thoughtful way. The place itself is absolutely beautiful peaceful, surrounded by nature, and very comfortable. And the food… not only delicious but also very original and clearly prepared with so much attention and love. I’m leaving deeply grateful for the whole experience. 2 months agoThis is Healing, not Recreational retreat, beware!! People who decide to go to Avalon must simply remember that before reserving a seat! This is not to have fun (although you will have fun, but with the other guests and the Avalon Crew) or during one or more of the sessions. Healing, healing: I thought I had nothing to heal, aka "I am in good shape, good health, and no known psychological or physical issue". I went there for discovery, for getting closer to my Real Self, to my Soul, and also to have some fancy travel, to be honest. Well, no "fancy travel in the stars" for me (others participants had that), no, not this time. But, gosh, all the rest was stunning. And difficult. but believe, when you lose your ego, you become the REAL you. You accept and embrace life. You are finally happy without limit.
