What is Avalon?
Avalon is a holistic healing centre in Barcelona and Ibiza (Spain), dedicated to self-discovery and profound inner journeys. Our retreats bring together the ancient wisdom of sacred medicines such as Ayahuasca, Magic Mushrooms, San Pedro, and Bufo Alvarius with modern practices of preparation, integration, and personalised care.
We follow a shamanic approach to the world of plant medicines, working with shamans from ancestral traditions of Brazil (Yawanawá, Huni Kuin, Mbyá Guaraní), Colombia (Kamëntsa, Kichwa, Pastos, Muisca, Cofán), and Peru (Quechua). Our mission is to create safe, contemporary, and refined spaces where participants can experience these medicines in the traditional Amazonian way.
With deep respect for ancestral knowledge, we complement it with tools that help non-indigenous participants gain the most from their experience and apply insights to everyday life. Preparation before the retreat builds confidence and clarity; our holistic programme introduces practices that foster wellbeing beyond the ceremony; and integration supports participants in maximising benefits while navigating any challenges that may arise afterwards.
Set and setting are two of the most critical factors in a psychedelic experience. At Avalon, safety and care are at the heart of everything we do. From the very beginning, participants are supported by a dedicated team, with a nearly one-to-one facilitator-to-guest ratio during retreats. Our team also includes a medical advisor, and we follow many of the safety guidelines recommended by ICEERS.
In adapting rituals that are not part of our own culture, we honour tradition while offering the highest level of comfort and beauty. This balance helps participants feel safe, surrender to the process, and embrace the full potential of a transformative journey.

What does a 6-day holistic Ayahuasca retreat include?
- 4 Ayahuasca ceremonies by experienced (>10 years) shamans trained in Colombia (Kamëntsa, Kichwa, Pastos, Muisca, and Cofán traditions), Peru (Quechua tradition), or Brazil (Yawanawá, Huni Kuin, Mbyá Guaraní traditions).
- 4 Rapé ceremonies (dried tobacco powder) – clearing the mind and cleansing the body and energy field, used in combination with Ayahuasca.
- 4 Integration workshops with a trained psychologist, combining diverse and creative methods, such as sharing circles, writing, art therapy, and ecstatic dance.
- 1 One-on-one integration session – Designed to bring your unique experience into your daily life and ensure lasting change.

They put so much thought into every aspect of the retreat – through from carefully selected authentic Shamans, to the impeccable staff, nutrition, space and ongoing integration support. I honestly think you would struggle to find a better organisation to do a retreat with in Europe. Thank you Avalon for such an incredible experience, which I would highly recommend to anyone who feels ready to consider embarking upon a retreat themselves.

August 29, 2023 at 4:32 amAvalon run a high-quality operation and from the first minute to the last you are catered for very well. The staff, the volunteers, the owners, chefs, are all so pleasant and welcoming, and immediately put you at ease.
It was a special retreat, and the biggest compliment I can pay them is that when I return for another Ayahuasca retreat, it will 100% be with Avalon. The food is excellent, the facilities are great, and the whole schedule ran smoothly.
Special mention to Heidi the massage therapist, who is excellent and works wonders.
I cannot wait to return for another journey with this great team

You have created a safe place to make my first experience with Ayahuasca one of the most valuable experiences of my life. The high quality runs through all areas – the preparation, the authentic ceremonies with experienced shamans, the integration and therapy sessions, the amazing food and the location in the middle of the beauty of nature. The Ayahuasca ceremonies were performed with respect for tradition and breathtaking musical accompaniment. I recommend this special place to everyone, especially for the first experience of Ayahuasca. I left Avalon full of love, healing and awareness. June 14, 2023 at 12:56 pmI have just completed my first Ayahuasca retreat with Avalon which was 6 days in length.
It was without doubt the most intense, profound & transformative week of my life. Words cannot explain the deep transformative journey that is available if we allow it. It was not easy. Working with plant medicine is hard, difficult work but the rewards are life changing. As a group, we were well looked after and cared for. All the support we needed was available, from yoga, meditation, therapy, massage and other different healing modalities. The Ayahuasca journeys were profound and healing, and they was always accompanied by lovely music. Yes, trauma surfaced, and there was tears and purging, but I always felt this was a necessary part of the voyage. Bufo inspired awe and wonder, and I have been left with an experience that I will remember forever. I always felt safe and protected by the Shamans Nilton and Ness, and the magical, musical journeys weaved by Abbey, Chris, Maggie and Imogen during ceremony was just beautiful. The massage by Gabriel allowed me to release lower back pain trauma (which I have had for 40 years) and the food prepared by Marina was ideal for restoration. A huge thank you also to Lala, Alejandro, Ammy, and Victor and those who I might not have mentioned for this experience. If we want to change the world we must start with ourselves, and this retreat was an excellent beginning for clearing the past trauma and renewing our spirits.

May 31, 2023 at 12:50 pmI attended the therapeutic magical mushroom ceremony in ibiza (may 2023). If I had to use one word to describe it, it would literally be the word “magical”. It was not my first time with avalon, and once again, they offered everything one needs to feel safe and to have a profound experience. The ceremony space, which was a beautiful maloka surrounded with trees and nature, was simply incredible. So much gratitude to the people (Benjo, the medicine man and funniest guy there is, Katarina & Ness which sang and played beautiful music, Alejandro, Patricia, Nathalie and Ammy who took such good care of us, Paula who provided the space, Abel who cooked the most delicious food afterwards, and of course all the other people that attended). It was just perfect! I wish everyone in the world had the chance to experience something like this (at least) once in a lifetime. I remember myself thinking during the ceremony “I wish this state of being would never end”. I think I never felt so human in my whole life, with all the emotions, feelings, impressions, ideas and experiences I had on this day. As Patricia said very accurately in the integration afterwards “this ceremony was a crash course of being human” and I loved every moment of it. Thank you Avalon and everyone that was involved! I know I will be returning 🙂 aho!

This journey within — guided by Ayahuasca and held with such care by the incredible Avalon team and shamans — was truly profound. From the very first moment, I felt deep trust and safety, as if I was being gently carried through the entire process by experienced, compassionate hands. I was never alone. The venue itself radiates tranquility and grounding energy. Its peaceful surroundings created the perfect container for surrender, reflection, and healing. Every detail — from the space, to the program, to the way each ceremony and integration moment was thoughtfully held — supported the depth of this experience. I feel as if I moved a mountain within myself and closed a very painful chapter of my life. What unfolded went far beyond what I could have imagined. The structure of the program, combined with the additional offerings, allowed me to go deeper, softer, and more honestly into my own process. 5 months agoHonestly, I’m no beginner to ancestral medicines and shamanic processes, but what I experienced with Avalon, the depth of sincere love and care, is something I had never felt before. The journey was awe-inspiring and left me transformed for the better. I cannot thank them enough; these are people who genuinely want to elevate the world. The organization is spotless, the lady Shaman was exceptional, and lastly the food was absolutely delicious. Thank you Avalon, you truly are Love.

3 years agoMy experience at Avalon was incredible. From the moment you arrive you can feel the love, care and detail that is put into every element of your stay. It's a lovely, spacious location with a lake, trees, hammocks, horses and more. There are various activities you can choose from such as yoga, massage and dance in addition to the ceremonies. They also have an amazing chef Maria who plans out chromatic meals each day based on the colors of the chakras. It was an incredible experience that I would recommend to anyone. The entire team made me feel incredibly welcomed, loved and cared for. Big thank you to Alejandro and everyone at Avalon!

a year agoIt’s hard to put into words how amazing this place is. It’s totally not just the Ayahuasca ceremonies it’s the setting, the food, the activities, all the different alternative therapies on offer aswell as the people who run this place / work here are some of the most kind and loving people you will ever meet. I was very nervous & apprehensive about the aya ceremonies but I felt very safe and supported at all times. I had 1 ceremony that was particularly intense & Maggie sat with me for what felt like hours doing energy healing & supporting me through a very tough process. It’s a deep and heavy experience but it’s also full of love & laughter. The team here are great and I mostly had a permanent smile on my face the whole time & I am no longer scared of psychedelics I also did the Bufo which I can only describe as going to heaven for 15 minutes. It was one of the most beautiful experiences of my life. It’s not a silver bullet to immediate perfection but i would say it’s one of the most healing experiences of my life & the intense night was like releasing 40 years of sadness so I now totally understand what they mean when they say it’s like 20 years of therapy in one night. I struggle to believe that there is a therapy out there that could go that deep and get that much sadness out of you. The shaman & facilitators were such beautiful people, you get a serious amount of love at this place ❤️ If your considering going to Avalon don’t hesitate just book it, you won’t regret it ❤️
