Why Avalon?
Avalon is a holistic healing centre in Barcelona and Ibiza (Spain), dedicated to self-discovery and profound inner journeys. Our retreats bring together the ancient wisdom of sacred medicines such as Ayahuasca, Magic Mushrooms, San Pedro, and Bufo Alvarius with modern practices of preparation, integration, and personalised care.
We follow a shamanic approach to the world of plant medicines, working with shamans from ancestral traditions of Brazil (Yawanawá, Huni Kuin, Mbyá Guaraní), Colombia (Kamëntsa, Kichwa, Pastos, Muisca, Cofán), and Peru (Quechua). Our mission is to create safe, contemporary, and refined spaces where participants can experience these medicines in the traditional Amazonian way.
With deep respect for ancestral knowledge, we complement it with tools that help non-indigenous participants gain the most from their experience and apply insights to everyday life. Preparation before the retreat builds confidence and clarity; our holistic programme introduces practices that foster wellbeing beyond the ceremony; and integration supports participants in maximising benefits while navigating any challenges that may arise afterwards.
Set and setting are two of the most critical factors in a psychedelic experience. At Avalon, safety and care are at the heart of everything we do. From the very beginning, participants are supported by a dedicated team, with a nearly one-to-one facilitator-to-guest ratio during retreats. Our team also includes a medical advisor, and we follow many of the safety guidelines recommended by ICEERS.
In adapting rituals that are not part of our own culture, we honour tradition while offering the highest level of comfort and beauty. This balance helps participants feel safe, surrender to the process, and embrace the full potential of a transformative journey.

What does a 6-day holistic Ayahuasca retreat include?
- 4 Ayahuasca ceremonies by experienced (>10 years) shamans trained in Colombia (Kamëntsa, Kichwa, Pastos, Muisca, and Cofán traditions), Peru (Quechua tradition), or Brazil (Yawanawá, Huni Kuin, Mbyá Guaraní traditions).
- 4 Rapé ceremonies (dried tobacco powder) – clearing the mind and cleansing the body and energy field, used in combination with Ayahuasca.
- 4 Integration workshops with a trained psychologist, combining diverse and creative methods, such as sharing circles, writing, art therapy, and ecstatic dance.
- 1 One-on-one integration session – Designed to bring your unique experience into your daily life and ensure lasting change.

It was a true insightful ceremony, that provided my life with reflections & showed me deeply rooted emotions that I built up over the years.
Overall Frizzant was a well suited location. I would however, in the near future not do similar ceremonies in group formats with 10 other relatively unknown people. I would go for a more personalised approach.
Thanks in any case to the organisation again & wish you lots of luck with this great initiative!

How do i even start? Let me say first of all this place is nothing, and i mean nothing but pure magic.
From the minute i stepped off the bus i knew i was home.
The warm welcome of the hugs – they were special. The calmness and serenity and the grounds in Barcelona were absolutely stunning.
I was doing the 3 night Ayahuasca ceremony – i am so happy i did it with Avalon because of the safety they provide, the nurturing and the knowledge they have. They have the best shamans, the best humans facilitating. What they have created in Europe is mind blowing. I wont go anywhere else now.
There is zero judgement are you just know that when you leave you have a soul family for life. Connections i craved all my life.
I did not want to leave – the food was nothing short of spectacular. The taste and the creations by Cromatic chef were very inspiring it taught me how to appreciate food even more and how we need to energise our body’s the right way if we want to live a healthy fulfilling life.
The facilitators – I still cant put in to words how they make you feel. They hold you in a special way. I am so grateful i got to experience this.
Two weeks after my Aya trip i decided to go to Ibiza with Avalon for the mushroom ceremony. What a beautiful, harmonious experience. Again everything is 5 star + you will not get anything else like this – not in Europe.
I highly highly recommend anyone looking for some magic in their life, looking for safety and looking for soul connections you must do this with Avalon its an experience you wont ever forget.

September 17, 2023 at 1:27 pmMy experience at Avalon was amazing, eye opening and life changing. From the moment we arrived at the resort, everything was done so professionally and more importantly I felt super safe.
The staff were friendly, informative, but also so in touch with the medicine and the spiritual side of everything that you didn’t feel stupid or awkward asking them any questions. The food was delightful, the massage, access bar and integration sessions were very much needed, and with the hot weather during the 6 days we were there, the use of the pool was a bonus. The ceremonies themselves were enlightening, the background of the medicine was very well explained and the shamans themselves were so loving and easy to get on with – they felt like family.
The ceremonial music and the guardians were outstanding. Every ceremony had some of the most beautiful songs and with the love and support of the guardians made it even more special. Every night there was dancing and singing. The most special thing about this place were the people who joined me on this retreat. Everybody had their own story, there was no judgement, and we all loved and supported each other in a powerful way that I had never experienced before. I may have had some nerves on the first day, however by the end of the stay, I was nearly crying because I was reluctant to leave this new family.
I cannot recommend Avalon highly enough. The professionalism and safety of the whole experience was more than I could have imagined, and I will definitely be going again whenever mother ayahuasca comes calling. Aho -

September 13, 2023 at 3:35 pmI attended a Sacred Mushrooms Deep Dive ceremony in Barcelona. Astonishing. Highly professional and safe at all time. It really changed me in a positive way. I will definitely do it again.
The ceremony took place at a central location in Barcelona city. The shamans Chris and Maggie and their assistants Suzie, Abbey, Angela and Pati were experienced, empathetic and at their ease all the time. The mushrooms were absolutely great. The ride was extraordinary. We left 10 hours later, tired and very happy.
The experience was joy, knowledge, gratitude and fun.
The music…. No words to describe it.
I am still processing.

The insights that unfolded during the retreat were profound, leaving me with a deep sense of personal growth and understanding.
The organization of the retreat was highly professional, and I felt safe and supported during the entire ceremony. Special thanks to Benjo, who skillfully guided us through the ceremony, and Nathalie, who held space for me and others, creating a nurturing environment for inner exploration.
The music provided by Ravi & Katharina was nothing short of breathtaking. It added an extra layer of depth and emotion to the experience, enhancing the overall journey.
One highlight was the incredible food provided by Abdel. The nourishing meals not only satisfied the body but also contributed to the overall sense of well-being throughout the retreat.
Lastly, a heartfelt thank you to the founder of Avalon, Alejandro, who ensured that everything ran smoothly. His dedication to creating a safe and transformative space is commendable.
I wholeheartedly recommend Avalon to anyone seeking a safe and profound experience with plant medicines. This journey within — guided by Ayahuasca and held with such care by the incredible Avalon team and shamans — was truly profound. From the very first moment, I felt deep trust and safety, as if I was being gently carried through the entire process by experienced, compassionate hands. I was never alone. The venue itself radiates tranquility and grounding energy. Its peaceful surroundings created the perfect container for surrender, reflection, and healing. Every detail — from the space, to the program, to the way each ceremony and integration moment was thoughtfully held — supported the depth of this experience. I feel as if I moved a mountain within myself and closed a very painful chapter of my life. What unfolded went far beyond what I could have imagined. The structure of the program, combined with the additional offerings, allowed me to go deeper, softer, and more honestly into my own process. 4 years agoMy experience at Avalon was incredible. From the moment you arrive you can feel the love, care and detail that is put into every element of your stay. It's a lovely, spacious location with a lake, trees, hammocks, horses and more. There are various activities you can choose from such as yoga, massage and dance in addition to the ceremonies. They also have an amazing chef Maria who plans out chromatic meals each day based on the colors of the chakras. It was an incredible experience that I would recommend to anyone. The entire team made me feel incredibly welcomed, loved and cared for. Big thank you to Alejandro and everyone at Avalon!

3 months agoThis was my first ayahuasca experience, and I honestly couldn’t have chosen a better place. From the very beginning, everything felt incredibly well organized. I felt safe at all times, truly cared for, and supported in a very thoughtful way. The place itself is absolutely beautiful peaceful, surrounded by nature, and very comfortable. And the food… not only delicious but also very original and clearly prepared with so much attention and love. I’m leaving deeply grateful for the whole experience. 2 months agoThis is Healing, not Recreational retreat, beware!! People who decide to go to Avalon must simply remember that before reserving a seat! This is not to have fun (although you will have fun, but with the other guests and the Avalon Crew) or during one or more of the sessions. Healing, healing: I thought I had nothing to heal, aka "I am in good shape, good health, and no known psychological or physical issue". I went there for discovery, for getting closer to my Real Self, to my Soul, and also to have some fancy travel, to be honest. Well, no "fancy travel in the stars" for me (others participants had that), no, not this time. But, gosh, all the rest was stunning. And difficult. but believe, when you lose your ego, you become the REAL you. You accept and embrace life. You are finally happy without limit.
