Our Program
At Arkana, we create the space for you to get in touch with your truth, opening your path for deeper meaning and greater fulfillment in your life. We work with ancestral medicines such as Ayahuasca, San Pedro, Bufo Alvarius, Rapé , using the traditional practices of the indigenous cultures of the Peruvian Amazon. We currently operate two centers in Peru, one in the Peruvian Amazon and a second one in the Sacred Valley (close to Machu Picchu), and one in Mexico, the choice is yours.
With great respect for the plants and the knowledge and healing that comes with them, our lineage of Shipibo shamans set the stage for truly deep and profound healing. Awaken your inner power through their sacred and powerful icaros (healing songs), and discover your connection to all things by exploring some of the 2.2 million hectare Pacaya Samiria National Reserve which is our backyard. Nourish your body and soul with fresh, clean, delicious meals that promote your Ayahuasca experience, and integrate healthy habits into your routine with our yoga classes and extensive selection of gym equipment for all levels. We believe the health of physical body sets the foundation for the health of the energetic body – Often ignored in this type of spiritual work, we find this to be an important part of the healing process, so you can begin implementing the healthy habits that will carry this work with you into your life back home. Finally, relax your mind and spirit with sound baths, meditations, breathwave sessions, and OM circles, or simply enjoy the tranquil views of both sunrise and sunset from our front porch on the banks of the Ucayali River, surrounded by lush biodiversity and the mesmerizing sounds of the jungle.
Arkana’s exceptional team of highly-trained Shipibo Master Shamans represent an unbroken lineage of plant medicine work. With a combined history of over 70 years of experience working closely with Ayahuasca and other master plant teachers of the jungle, our compassionate healers lovingly share their teachings, healing songs (icaros), capabilities, and knowledge with integrity and honor. We strive to maintain the traditional practices passed down through thousands of years of indigenous Amazonian culture, in order to continue to promote the true purpose and nature of plant medicine work.
Experiencing the medicines with us is a transformative personal journey, and so much more. We also work closely with our local community, the Amazonian village of Libertad, to ensure that our Center can benefit and give back to the people who have so generously let us into their homes and hearts. We create employment opportunities, teach free English classes, provide a space for the ladies to sell their handmade crafts, and assist in construction projects, among other things. Our latest endeavor is outfitting the entire village with free solar panels, so every house can have light and electricity. When you join us, you are helping the rainforest and the Amazon communities that live here.

April 5, 2014 at 12:00 amLiving such a controlled and repetitive life in the states I knew it was time for a change of pace and adventure, this was exactly what I got by booking my 11-day S. AM trip. By impulsively deciding to go to South America by myself for the first time would be the smartest investment I have made to date. Always wanting to travel and to try ayahuasca the layout and destinations of this trip ended up working perfect for me. During my time w/ Pulse Tours I would meet amazing like-minding people, see beautiful sights and culture, explore the amazon, explore new countries, and find new things out about the world and the people we share it with. By being in the jungle nights before your 1st ceremony you get that charged connection on being in the natural state from which we come from, which I found to be an amazing preparation for my 1st aya experience. I felt the trip to be almost to be like a reset button, as get to explore portions on your mind you never thought were accessible as you are opened up to new ideas that guide you in the right direction. March 31, 2014 at 12:00 amI am so happy that I chose Pulse tours to guide me through my trip into the Amazon. Every day of the tour contained a new and exciting experience for me, including the first two days in Bogota, the boat trip down the Amazon and most importantly the days spent at the Jungle Lodge and Ayahuasca centre. Dan is a really awesome tour leader, you can trust that he has everything covered and always wants to make sure you are having the time of your life. I really enjoyed staying at the Jungle Lodge where I met lots of creatures and saw some beautiful nature with the help of our experienced jungle guide Victor. It was nice to relax at the ayahuasca retreat after being in the primary jungle. It was perfect because we already had a feel for the jungle area and surrounding culture, which ayahuasca is a part of, making the experience more meaningful and authentic. The ayahuasca centre was a place of positive energy and healing, and the shamans, owners and people working there were all very friendly and helpful. The medicine is potent and my experience was very profound. Overall I had an amazing time and I would highly recommend Pulse Tours if you are looking for a great adventure with a focus on outdoors, ayahuasca and spiritual experience!!

March 26, 2014 at 12:00 amAfter learning about the benefits of ayahuasca, and developing an interest towards psychedelic medicine I have set out a goal for myself to peruse my desire to have a full ayahwaska experience with the Shamans in the jungle, although the idea of staying for a week at a spiritual center and drinking the most potent psychedelic medicine known to man seemed very appealing, but at the same time felt partially fulfilling due to a lack of adventure. Luckily I was made aware of a company called Pulse Tours which not only provided you with a stay at a spiritual center in Peru and the full ayawaska experience, but also took you on an adventuress journey through South America, the package that I picked was a 4 day Jungle expedition followed by a 4 day stay at Nihue Rao Centro Espiritual. The process of booking the trip was fairly easy communication with friendly staff made it almost seem as I was making plans with to travel with a group of friends as appose to a travel agency. After arrival at Iquitos we received an opportunity to explore the city, eat good food, the next day the group proceeded to the local market which was very unusual and interesting to walk around due to the variety of goods and cultural pieces available for sale, later on we traveled by land and then by the amazon river to our jungle lodge, yes THE amazon river. The jungle expedition was incredibly fun yet challenging and an eye opening experience, especially when you realize that you are in an actual jungle which is no joke. The variety of plants insects animals and all other types of wildlife encountered as well as the self-fulfilling state of accomplishment which you feel after having to participate in a journey like that have set a new standard of what traveling should be, at least for me. Bottom line is that I wanted an adventure, and I got exactly that, followed by 4 day stay at the spiritual center which included 3 ayawaska ceremonies, during my stay the I have developed a trust and respect for the Center?s shaman Recardo who guided me through the magical ayawaska experience which has sent me back home motivated and inspired to follow my dreams. March 26, 2014 at 12:00 amI had an amazing time in the Amazon tour + ayahuasca ceremonies arranged by Pulse Tour. We spent a few days in the jungle learning about the forest which was very cool. We then headed to Nihue Rao for the ayahuasca ceremonies. The place had very friendly people, great food and good calming atmosphere. The ceremonies in themselves were very intense, beautiful and life changing for me. I’d never felt so much love and happiness at once. It was overwhelming but beautiful. I highly recommend doing a trip with this group as they organize everything wonderfully, because after all, to have a great ayahuasca experience, you’ve to have a good, relaxed, worry free trip which Pulse Tour offers. 5 stars 🙂

If you’re looking for a first hand experience of amazon culture, landscape and ecology, but don’t know where to start Pulse is your answer. If you’re looking to experience pure Ayahausca in the amazon in its traditional shamanic setting and don’t know where to start, Pulse is your anwser.
Dan and Tatyana have the logistics of this trip figured out. It’s a no frills but stress free way to travel in an otherwise daunting environment. They are great people who will not only ensure you have a positive adventure but also care about your wellbeing, health and safety.
Finally, Nihue Rao is an extremely professional centre for healing. It’s run by respectable owners, and the ceremonies are conducted by true shamans who are there to heal and teach; not just take your money.

March 13, 2014 at 12:00 amI traveled with Pulse Tours for eight days over New Year’s Eve 2013-14 and had a terrific trip. I have no complaints. The first four days were spent at a jungle lodge on the Amazon River from which we made excursions (walking and via boat) and saw many interesting animals and insects, etc. The remaining four days were at Nihue Rao Spiritual Centre outside Iquitos where we we accommodated comfortably and experienced three ceremonies with maestro curandero Ricardo Amaringo and two other shamans. These were (crucially) “real deal” shamans with decades of training in the Shipibo tradition and everyone experienced healing, cleansing and/or visionary experiences with their beautiful icaros (sacred songs). Pulse Tours’ style best suits travellers who are reasonably fit who want an active “eco-adventure” holiday with a spiritual dimension. Tip: bring an inflatable camping cushion for added comfort in motorized canoes, hammocks and other places.

March 8, 2014 at 12:00 amThe Peruvian Ayahuasca adventure I went on with Dan, Tatyana and Pulse Tours turned out to be the most profound experience of my life. I got to explore the Amazon river and rainforest, connect with nature, play soccer with the locals, tour Iquitos, and then participate in three Ayahuasca ceremonies over four nights. I learned more than I ever thought possible about myself and about the universe. I gained clarity for my life?s path, abolished fear, and made lifelong friends in the process. Dan, Tatyana, and our jungle guide Victor are gracious and wonderful leaders and hosts. The three of them accounted for every detail to make our adventure magical, and I am so grateful for the experience I had. I cannot recommend Pulse Tours highly enough.

March 7, 2014 at 12:00 amI just recently got back from a tour with Pulse. It was a very memorable journey. I met with the group in Iquitos Peru and had a nice meal while we got to know each other. They were all very nice, Down to earth people with some similar interests as me. Over the next few days we went out deep into the jungle to learn about wild animals and many plants from the very knowledgeable jungle guide, Victor. We fished for pirhannas, Went looking for sloths and monkeys, and got taught about many different types of plants which all have unique medicinal uses. The nature in peru is very beautiful and fun to learn about. The final leg of the journey was spent at Nihue Rao Healing Center. By this time i felt the whole group had a very strong connection. The first ayahuasca ceremony for me was very beautiful. I didn’t have many visions but i felt alot of energy and love flowing through me. I thought alot about friends and family and my group members and my love for all of them. There were 3 shamans singing the icaros and thier voices were very soothing. I definitely felt i could trust them for keeping negative energies away. The second ceremony for me wasnt as positive of an experience. It could have been because i drank more, But maybe because i had a headache going into it, but i didnt feel the positive energy that i felt the first night. I felt i was alot more tired during it too. The day after was our day off from a ceremony so we just relaxed and went for a few swims in the river. There is alot of beautiful hand made clothing and blankets and jewelry made by the local women there that you can buy too. The third ceremony for me was one of the most beautiful things ive ever experienced. I saw lots of very intricate geometrical natural looking things like rivers, branches, snakes and stuff like that. And the happiness and love i felt was amazing. The shamans singing was also changing the things i would see. I felt i was not so much physically there but that i was connected to the energy and universe directly through my soul. I told happiness and love that they are always welcome, but i told hate that it was not allowed in my heart. I placed an aura around my body that repels hate. I thought about alot of happy moments from my life and some sad ones, and at some points i was almost in tears or laughing. I would highly suggest taking a tour with Pulse Tours if you are interested in ayahuasca and learning about the jungle. I made some true friends from this experience and will always remember this. I would definitely also go on another on sometime in the future 🙂

March 6, 2014 at 12:00 amI traveled with Pulse Tours for the 3-week long ?The mother of all adventures? in December 2013. To put it simple: I had the time of my life. The days were filled to the brim with a wonderful variety of scenery and experiences. Dan and Tatyana were excellent tour leaders with good knowledge of all the places we visited, always there to help, explain and translate. I felt safe and in good hands at all times. Moreover, Dan and Tatyana are two warm, intelligent and insightful persons with whom I enjoyed a stream of rewarding conversations throughout the journey. By the time the adventure was over it felt like we were family.
I chose to travel with Pulse Tours primarily because of my interest in ayahuasca, and I wanted my first experience to take place in an authentic setting. I am very grateful and happy that my wishes were granted. The days we spent at the two different ayahuasca centers were magnificent and transformative beyond words. Pulse Tours? slogan, ?Life changing adventures?, isn?t just a gimmick. You will most likely return home changed for the better. I did.
The days we spent deep in the jungle before coming to the first ayahuasca center was the perfect preparation. It was my first time in the jungle. The place was an explosion of color, lifeforms and new sounds. We lived close to the nature eating healthy, clean food. The haste and noise of the western world was soon forgotten and I became more mindful. Our jungle guide Victor, was quite an impressive person with extensive knowledge about the jungle. I would recommend everyone to spend some time with this guy. He is gold. While under his guidance I held a tarantula, iguana, snake, kayman and a sloth. Amazing! I would like to add that while ayahuasca can give you beautiful and blissful experiences, it is also a medicine that can give harsh teachings. So be prepared and committed to let the plant work with you.
