Our Program
At Arkana, we create the space for you to get in touch with your truth, opening your path for deeper meaning and greater fulfillment in your life. We work with ancestral medicines such as Ayahuasca, San Pedro, Bufo Alvarius, Rapé , using the traditional practices of the indigenous cultures of the Peruvian Amazon. We currently operate two centers in Peru, one in the Peruvian Amazon and a second one in the Sacred Valley (close to Machu Picchu), and one in Mexico, the choice is yours.
With great respect for the plants and the knowledge and healing that comes with them, our lineage of Shipibo shamans set the stage for truly deep and profound healing. Awaken your inner power through their sacred and powerful icaros (healing songs), and discover your connection to all things by exploring some of the 2.2 million hectare Pacaya Samiria National Reserve which is our backyard. Nourish your body and soul with fresh, clean, delicious meals that promote your Ayahuasca experience, and integrate healthy habits into your routine with our yoga classes and extensive selection of gym equipment for all levels. We believe the health of physical body sets the foundation for the health of the energetic body – Often ignored in this type of spiritual work, we find this to be an important part of the healing process, so you can begin implementing the healthy habits that will carry this work with you into your life back home. Finally, relax your mind and spirit with sound baths, meditations, breathwave sessions, and OM circles, or simply enjoy the tranquil views of both sunrise and sunset from our front porch on the banks of the Ucayali River, surrounded by lush biodiversity and the mesmerizing sounds of the jungle.
Arkana’s exceptional team of highly-trained Shipibo Master Shamans represent an unbroken lineage of plant medicine work. With a combined history of over 70 years of experience working closely with Ayahuasca and other master plant teachers of the jungle, our compassionate healers lovingly share their teachings, healing songs (icaros), capabilities, and knowledge with integrity and honor. We strive to maintain the traditional practices passed down through thousands of years of indigenous Amazonian culture, in order to continue to promote the true purpose and nature of plant medicine work.
Experiencing the medicines with us is a transformative personal journey, and so much more. We also work closely with our local community, the Amazonian village of Libertad, to ensure that our Center can benefit and give back to the people who have so generously let us into their homes and hearts. We create employment opportunities, teach free English classes, provide a space for the ladies to sell their handmade crafts, and assist in construction projects, among other things. Our latest endeavor is outfitting the entire village with free solar panels, so every house can have light and electricity. When you join us, you are helping the rainforest and the Amazon communities that live here.
Guests that come to our Center often say they feel like “part of the family” with us – that’s no coincidence, as we are one big family at Arkana! The people that are with you throughout your experience can simply facilitate your own healing journey or become an integral part of it. Our experienced, loving, and professional team of caregivers welcomes you to join our tribe, where we strive to make you feel at home and at ease, supported and cared for with all the love and compassion that is at the core of the plant medicines and people we work with.
Ayahuasca is a powerful medicine that offers us the opportunity to understand our true nature, by shining a light onto our darkness, and holding a mirror up to our fears, negative thought patterns, and self-limiting beliefs. We provide the environment and expertise of a team of highly skilled, warm, compassionate Shamans and facilitators to guide you through the process of awakening, of choosing differently, healing, and expanding. It is a slow but steady path towards freedom – from fear, from illusion, from self-constructed boundaries – resulting in a lighter, brighter, more authentic self, and the full experience of love. It is our honor to help you on this most fulfilling of all journeys: the journey back home.
We look forward to having you with us!
Lots of Love,
The Team

September 19, 2024 at 12:42 pmOver half a year has passed since my time at Arkana Sacred Valley, and the positive effects of this profound experience are still evident. Those around me, both friends and family, still remark on how healthy and motivated I’ve become, my mother even stating, “you’re back to your normal self,” remarking on my recovery and salvation from alcoholism, which Arkana was a key part of.
Curated for maximum benefit, the program at Arkana is responsible and reasonable—without pushing beyond personal limits—and truly helped me exceed my potential in a benevolent way. This professional experience is executed with tactful foresight and exceeded my expectations, from post-ceremony care to the impressive meals prepared by the chef from organic produce grown on premise or around Cuzco. I am eternally grateful to have had the opportunity to attend an Arakana retreat.

September 18, 2024 at 6:28 pmI felt called to plant medicine after hearing the story of a friend and how life changing it was for them. I read every review and looked at every picture I could find. It came down to Arkana and another retreat center for me and I couldn’t be happier that I chose Arkana’s Sacred Valley location! Everything was wonderful – from pickup to dropoff. Each of the facilitators was fantastic and inspiring. The group size was perfect and the people I met have become dear friends. Multiple people in the group had been to this location previously. The facilities and location are comfortable and stunning! The food was delicious! Everyone in my group had a very different experience with the medicines but we all got what we needed. I’m already trying to figure out when I can make a return trip and take a family member with me. Can’t thank Arkana and everyone who works there enough!!

September 17, 2024 at 4:26 pmI truly believe there is no better place I could’ve chosen for an ayahuasca retreat than Arkana. The staff/facilitators are so supportive and knowledgeable…they made me feel so cared for and safe. Each of the staff are so skilled and talented in their own ways. I really enjoyed the extra therapies offered such as the 1:1 breath work and 3-in-1 massage. I felt that each of the facilitators/staff and the owner deeply care about every guest and their healing journey. There is so much love at Arkana. The shamans are experienced and powerful healers. The schedule was perfectly organized and well put together. I loved the food, every single meal was so delicious and nutrient-dense. I appreciated that Arkana gave guests sufficient tools and resources for both preparation before the retreat and self-care and integration post-retreat. The wisdom and the insights I gained from this retreat were life-changing and so profoundly positive. I cannot say enough good things about this healing center.

September 9, 2024 at 10:40 pmI spent 1 week in Sacred Valley in August 2024 for their Ayahuasca Retreat which included Ayahuasca, San Pedro, Bufo. The center is next to a river and mountains which was very calming and beautiful. Facilities were top notch. Food was delicious and healing in itself. But the main standout for me was the people, from the Maestros, to the Facilitators, and the many other staff that work here – everyone was incredibly friendly and supportive, and you could tell that they genuinely care. This is so important when doing these ceremonies and this really helped me throughout my experience. I also liked for the Ayahuasca ceremonies how they measured the doses, so at integration the next day you could choose whether to go up, same, or drop the dose. The medicine was healing and I walked feeling lighter with a clearer mind. Thank you Arkana for the care and kindness you bring to this space! 🙂

September 8, 2024 at 1:40 pmRecently I spent two weeks at Arkana. Originally the plan was for one week, but I extended and stayed for an additional week. Arkana was very accommodating. Although not 100% inclusive, below are the benefits that resonated the most with me.
• Spiritual Healing: Going in, I viewed it as an Ayahuasca center. Leaving, it was a Spiritual Healing Retreat.
• Sustainability: Growing and harvesting of plant and animal resources with the highest priority placed on ethical and moral treatment
• Ratio: The guest to Mistra/Mistro ratio was very good. They limited the number of participants to ~ 20, to ensure an individual and cared-for experience. There was a minimum of 4 Mistra/Mistro’s in every ceremony. One ceremony had 7!
• Facilitators: They were the greatest blessing. They were caring and selfless service was felt. There was never a situation where they were not available to help.
• Owner: The owner and his family were present during the duration of my stay. They were heartfully engaged and concerned about guest healing and experience.
• Community: The owner places high priority on preserving and promoting the Shipibo culture. He also is very integrated with the local village, providing employment opportunities and community projects.
• Food: The food was exceptional! I lost 8 lbs and never felt hungry. Aways satisfied, my body was whole and nourished.
• Schedule: The power is in the schedule. The program is thoughtfully developed and executed for maximum healing and growth. Everything happens seamlessly behind the scenes.
