Orlando Chujandama Huazanga is a curandero vegetalista from the Peruvian high Amazonian region of the Huallaga River. Born in the small village of Llucayanacu, he was raised partially by his grandfather, Don Aquilino Chujandama one of the most respected master in the field of Vegetalismo of this region.
Curandero or traditional ingenious healer curing physical or spiritual illnesses his practice is Vegetalismo; the Amazonian tradition of spiritual herbalism practiced in the Peruvian Amazon.
After the death of his mentor and familiar he moved in Tarapoto where he followed his education. He came back to the field of vegetalismo and training in the art of Amazonian traditional healing at the age of 30, when he followed long and strict isolation in the jungle under the guidance of Master plants and his grand father in dreamtime.
He leaves now in Tarapoto with his wife and 5 children but has a small venue to receive groups and patients in the village he was born on the banks of the Huallaga river close to Chazuta. At Llucayanacu.
His tradition is part of the traditional Amazonian Medicine ways, where a strong knowledge of the fauna and flora form the jungle is carried by its followers. Their knowledge is related to medicinal plants, their used and application as the use of psychoactive such as ayahuasca and tobacco.

September 15, 2017 at 2:22 pmMyself and 10 others visited Orlando at his New Rising Sun center. Its a nice journey from Lima to Tarapoto then any hour drive through the mountains to a small village then a half hour boat ride up the river then a 20 minute walk through the jungle. Totally secluded In the Jungle away from busy areas situated between 2 rivers.
Orlando’s place is super traditional and rustic, its not your typical resort type Ayahuasca place.
Orlando is a vey kind and caring man. Even though we were in the middle of nowhere and didn’t speak much Spanish, he makes you feel safe and very welcome. He is so grateful for anyone that chooses to visit him. He treats you like family.
With the more traditional ways, Orlando likes to have participants on a dieta before, during and after your visit. You may be in isolation for a period of your stay to really be alone and do the work.
Highly recommended.

Probably the greatest thing that I have ever done in my life. Even if I went and never took the medicine it would still be one of the greatest things I’ve ever done.
You will not regret your decision should you choose to go to him.

June 25, 2014 at 12:00 amI first heard about Orlando through the Joe Rogan Experience Podcast (episode #127 with Aubrey Marcus). Aubrey told such an amazing account of his experiences with Maestro Orlando that I had to go down and see for myself.
In short, Orlando exceeded my every expectation. Not only is he a great guy that makes you feel perfectly welcome and at ease in every way, he’s also an incredibly powerful vegetalista with the skills to deserve the title Maestro.
If you want to visit the 8th dimension and beyond (check out that ep of the JRE if you don’t know what I’m talking about), Orlando is the only game in town.
If you’re looking for an Ayahuasca tourist encounter, this is not the place to be. But if you want real traditional no-holds-barred excellence with small ceremonies (our largest was three people) and a professional controlled environment (Orlando is king at talking people “off the ledge” if they start to lose control while under influence of la medicina), you must-must-MUST go here.
I can’t rave highly enough, and would rate this ten stars if I could. See Orlando and you won’t regret it. He lives up to the hype and more.

June 25, 2014 at 12:00 amI spent a week at The New Rising Sun in May of 2014.
The center has fully functional bathrooms and showers, and there is electricity available for several hours a night via diesel generator. The center is located in a gorgeous area situated between two rivers near a small town. It is very quiet, and very peaceful. It’s a wonderful place for healing.
Orlando and his staff were extremely friendly and helpful and even though I speak little Spanish, I was able to effectively communicate my needs. Orlando seems like he genuinely cares about the people who come see him, and the people that work for him. Even after we had left the retreat, Orlando stopped in to see us in our hotel in Tarapoto to make sure we were doing alright.
The food follows a traditional dieta and all meals were prepared using bottled water to ensure we did not get sick.
The Moloka itself can house over 20 people for ceremonies but when I was there there was only three of us and Orlando. The retreat is set out in the jungle and is a place of quiet contemplation.
Orlando’s New Rising Sun is not what I would consider a “touristy” place. Orlando provides a very traditional more “real” Ayahuasca experience than what you will likely find in Iquitos. The medicine is strong and Orlando is an extremely good shaman.
I would recommend Orlando and the New Rising Sun to anyone seeking an authentic Ayahuasca experience.
