The mission of Yosi Ocha, The Peruvian Institute of Shamanism and Natural Medicine, since its foundation in 2014, has been to establish a brand of excellence in the preservation of authentic Shipibo shamanic practices. Maestro Heberto García, who is today one of the most recognized shamans among the Shipibo descendants, preserves this indigenous tradition with great rigor. The centre was named after his grandfather and mentor, Yosi Ocha, known as the last Meraya, a title granted to curanderos that attained the highest level of shamanism.
Today we pride ourselves on offering the most complete combination of original Shipibo shamanic treatments available. The centre is the ideal refuge for those who seek deep healing and transformation through a personalised program, or wish to be trained in the fascinating art of shamanism following the ancient Shipibo tradition. Maestro Heberto makes a holistic diagnosis of each guest and designs a tailor-made program taking into account his or her individual objectives.
The passengers are free to choose the starting date and duration of their stay. Many centres offer retreats with fixed start and end dates for cost savings reasons, but in Yosi Ocha we believe that such rigidity does not favour the personalised treatment approach and goes against the central shamanic spirit that values the healing and promotion of integral well-being above any consideration of personal benefit.
Yosi Ocha is located in the depths of the Amazon rainforest, about 20 km southeast of Iquitos, in the Allpahuayo Mishana National Park. The diverse ecosystem in this magnificent part of the jungle includes majestic trees of impressive sizes, streams of reddish water and distinctive white sands that contribute even more to the enchanting beauty of the place.
Once a year, Maestro Heberto travels to Europe (Holland, Spain, etc.) to conduct intensive 3-days healing retreats. These retreats are an excellent opportunity to carry out deep personal work in a safe and loving environment, while discovering his unique approach to the medicine and healing.

January 14, 2024 at 2:27 pmA year ago I had the chance to spend two weeks at Yosi Ocha. It was beyond expectations; although amenities were limited (As well as the water in the pound), people were perfect, as well my hut. Herberto and her assistant are truly amazing people. This was my first experience, and I can say that not only I had the opportunity to do a deep inner journey, but in the same time learned so much about the cultural and spiritual aspects of Aya. The very vast majority of other people who joined were also very interesting; and food was simple, but fresh and varied; so all good, The only negative point was the noise of some construction machine during the day (but that was last year) as they were doing some work on the property to enlarge it. As I leave in Europe, it is a bit far for me to go easily, but if I could would definitely go again!

January 7, 2024 at 1:03 amYosi Ocha is amazing. Firstly, Maestro Herberto is a real master – you really feel his layers of protection during the ceremony. The staff and volunteers are beautiful, kind and patient – and the setting is magical.

December 14, 2023 at 1:33 pmYosi Ocha is a simple, rustic retreat that feels remote — it’s in the Amazon jungle — but is only an hour or so from the city of Iquitos. The accommodations are comfortable, the food is healthy, and the overall sense of the place is one of peacefulness and ease. Meditation, walks in the jungle, flower baths, and swims in the natural pools are all encouraged, as is increasing one’s knowledge of various master plants and trees. Most importantly, Maestro Herberto is a powerful healer, and he and his family are incredibly warm, hard-working and kind. In all, a safe, authentic experience not soon to be forgotten.

October 29, 2023 at 10:41 pmExcellent place for AYAretreat seekers.
I and most of the visitors of the week from October 9-15, 2023 had a positive experience. I can definitely recommend a visit.
There is nothing to compare with, but here’s what’s worth knowing:
the food is good and of high quality, the rooms are simple,
the basics are there, it’s not 5 stars.
There is no electricity in the rooms, it gets dark at 6pm.
Wifi is available upon arrival and towards the end of the retreat.
So that people focus on themselves and nature.
The people around are very friendly.
Do not forget that this is a deep jungle far from civilization
and small midges and insects sometimes penetrate inside.
I didn’t see any snakes, but there were lizards, frogs, birds,
parrots, a puppy and monkeys.
The maestro works well, I had no questions about the quality of his work.
Payment by PayPal, everything is fair and transparent.
I highly recommend performing the San Pedro procedure
in the water near the lake where wifi is located.
Water is very helpful in relieving distracting discomfort.
Everyone liked this format.
There arent fish in the lake, living creatures or algae.
I would recommend going to people who really want to work on themselves and become cleaner and better internally. I’m not sure that this is a place for fun and new experiences. This is a difficult path to your soul. If you are ready for this, then welcome.
