If you’ve read the book or seen the film, you’ll know that ‘Aya: Awakenings’ takes you on a journey of shamanic discovery into the heart of the Amazon and the powerful plant medicine ayahuasca. Now you can be part of the awakening with these 10-day healing retreats with Writer-Producer Rak Razam and legendary curandero Percy Garcia Lozano.
These intensive medicine plant-retreats are held every March, June, Sept and Dec and are designed to introduce you to ayahuasca and the healing it can provide on physical, psychological and spiritual levels. You will be guided by Percy over five ayahuasca ceremonies to awaken to your own inner nature, with deep healing supported by dietas with different medicine plants and/or other healing work as needed. Percy’s shamanic work is based on high ethical standards, including personal integrity on every level. He makes a special effort to create a peaceful and safe environment in which the healing process can be more successful. Small numbers of clients enable Percy to follow and monitor the entire healing process of guests from the moment they come until the moment they leave.
Facilitator Rak Razam says: “I’m delighted to be going full circle back to where it all began to lead ayahuasca retreats under the integral guidance of curandero Percy Garcia. I want to do something very special with these retreats, and blend my own knowledge and wisdom of the ayahuasca-shamanic-resurgence with the larger process of awakening I see happening on earth. Between ceremonies I’ll be lecturing on consciousness and evolution, the Western understanding and history of altered states and the new paradigm that unifies it all. I’ll be leading group discussions for deeper integration of the process we’ll all be going through, and developing individual plans with each participant to maximize their awakening process. Special attention will be given to integration and anchoring your experiences towards meaningful change so you can return empowered and with clear direction in your life.”

May 10, 2015 at 12:00 amMy first trip down to Peru was in April 2015 on this retreat. I did the research just like everyone else, and what attracted me to this retreat was the opportunity to work with multiple shamans. Considering this was my first time doing Ayahuasca I thought it was important to have a comparison between different centers to help me understand the entire process. In addition, being an intellectual westerner I felt this retreat would give me a good balance between the intellect and the spiritual side of life. Ultimately I made the right choice!
Rak and Meriana were excellent facilitators bringing to life the historical and psychotherapeutic side of Ayahuasca. They also taught much more about the spiritual awakening of the world than I felt I would have received on other retreats. They were both professional and are great souls to help guide you on your journey. They are living the path and talk from a great wealth of experience.
Overall I believe this retreat is geared for the spiritual journeyman looking to continue their learning process. People looking for healing of deep seeded issues would probably benefit from other retreats that stay at one center the entire time. My experience with Ayahuasca on this retreat was life changing and equipped me with many new perspectives and tools to bring home to the everyday world.
I endorse this retreat and highly recommend working with Rak and Meriana.

January 24, 2015 at 12:00 amI attended two retreat while I was in Peru, this was the second. The depth of exploration and potential within the dieta practice along with the helpful staff and Rak as a great host was of true benefit to my journey there and subsequent journey in life.
There are a couple reasons I gave this retreat 4 stars instead of 5, but most of them are likely bred of western desires in a jungle retreat centre. For example, the events that happen throughout the day can be very draining when the body (if it was like mine) is in such a fragile space from the deita. Of course, they are optional and having the option was a blessing. Still I found sitting for long periods of time on wooden benches during certain lectures was really hard on my body. Had I a cushion, 5 stars.
lol
But in all seriousness, though I dont have much to compare this too, I feel that I obtained great value from my experiences there. I would recommend it for anyone interested in exploring a deita type ayahusaca experience while remaining connected to a social sphere. Rak is a good guy, and I feel extremely grateful for having gotten to know him throughout that experience.
