Our Program
At Arkana, we create the space for you to get in touch with your truth, opening your path for deeper meaning and greater fulfillment in your life. We work with ancestral medicines such as Ayahuasca, San Pedro, Bufo Alvarius, Rapé , using the traditional practices of the indigenous cultures of the Peruvian Amazon. We currently operate two centers in Peru, one in the Peruvian Amazon and a second one in the Sacred Valley (close to Machu Picchu), and one in Mexico, the choice is yours.
With great respect for the plants and the knowledge and healing that comes with them, our lineage of Shipibo shamans set the stage for truly deep and profound healing. Awaken your inner power through their sacred and powerful icaros (healing songs), and discover your connection to all things by exploring some of the 2.2 million hectare Pacaya Samiria National Reserve which is our backyard. Nourish your body and soul with fresh, clean, delicious meals that promote your Ayahuasca experience, and integrate healthy habits into your routine with our yoga classes and extensive selection of gym equipment for all levels. We believe the health of physical body sets the foundation for the health of the energetic body – Often ignored in this type of spiritual work, we find this to be an important part of the healing process, so you can begin implementing the healthy habits that will carry this work with you into your life back home. Finally, relax your mind and spirit with sound baths, meditations, breathwave sessions, and OM circles, or simply enjoy the tranquil views of both sunrise and sunset from our front porch on the banks of the Ucayali River, surrounded by lush biodiversity and the mesmerizing sounds of the jungle.
Arkana’s exceptional team of highly-trained Shipibo Master Shamans represent an unbroken lineage of plant medicine work. With a combined history of over 70 years of experience working closely with Ayahuasca and other master plant teachers of the jungle, our compassionate healers lovingly share their teachings, healing songs (icaros), capabilities, and knowledge with integrity and honor. We strive to maintain the traditional practices passed down through thousands of years of indigenous Amazonian culture, in order to continue to promote the true purpose and nature of plant medicine work.
Experiencing the medicines with us is a transformative personal journey, and so much more. We also work closely with our local community, the Amazonian village of Libertad, to ensure that our Center can benefit and give back to the people who have so generously let us into their homes and hearts. We create employment opportunities, teach free English classes, provide a space for the ladies to sell their handmade crafts, and assist in construction projects, among other things. Our latest endeavor is outfitting the entire village with free solar panels, so every house can have light and electricity. When you join us, you are helping the rainforest and the Amazon communities that live here.
Guests that come to our Center often say they feel like “part of the family” with us – that’s no coincidence, as we are one big family at Arkana! The people that are with you throughout your experience can simply facilitate your own healing journey or become an integral part of it. Our experienced, loving, and professional team of caregivers welcomes you to join our tribe, where we strive to make you feel at home and at ease, supported and cared for with all the love and compassion that is at the core of the plant medicines and people we work with.
Ayahuasca is a powerful medicine that offers us the opportunity to understand our true nature, by shining a light onto our darkness, and holding a mirror up to our fears, negative thought patterns, and self-limiting beliefs. We provide the environment and expertise of a team of highly skilled, warm, compassionate Shamans and facilitators to guide you through the process of awakening, of choosing differently, healing, and expanding. It is a slow but steady path towards freedom – from fear, from illusion, from self-constructed boundaries – resulting in a lighter, brighter, more authentic self, and the full experience of love. It is our honor to help you on this most fulfilling of all journeys: the journey back home.
We look forward to having you with us!
Lots of Love,
The Team

April 2, 2019 at 4:48 pmI was recently at the Arkana Sacred valley back in January 2019. It’s a great center! I highly recommend anyone wanting to do a Ayahuasca ceremony to go there. Not only do they offer Ayahuasca but also Sapo and San Pedro. The Shamans are knowledgeable and wonderful! They are very open and kind. They both have about 40+ years each of experience with the medicine . Their Icaros are amazing and literally move you!
The facilitators are also just as amazing. They are always within reach and always more than happy to answer any questions for you. They all have amazing voices which are wonderful to hear while under Ayahuasca. Everyone there is so kind and always happy to help. The people that run the center are always available for any questions and happy to help. The kitchen staff is wonderful! The food is delicious and they cater to any dietary needs. The staff that cleans the rooms and does laundry is also very helpful. There are a couple of extra services they offer on the side. I highly recommend you try anyone of those out. I did get a massage and tried out magnetism therapy as well. Highly recommended!
When I say everyone there was helpful and kind I mean every single person I saw at the center. Even the resident dogs and cat!
The center is located near a river that sounds amazing when in ceremony.
Arkana sacred valley also offers a trip to Machu Picchu. I would recommend you take the trip. It is extra but definitely worth the money.
I honestly can not find one thing I did not like about the center.
This trip was life changing!
Highly recommend Arkana Sacred Valley center.

April 2, 2019 at 2:15 pmI can’t speak highly enough of my experience with Arkana retreat. The facility used to be a hotel. Each room has private bathroom. There is a dedicated ceremony area as well as eating area. It is positioned right along a river with plenty of space to walk and find private space if wanted.
The staff is incredible. They provide so much love and peace to work through whatever challenge you bring. They are all accomplished artists and provide the energy and music to help you through your experience.
My experience with the other guests drawn to Arkana was one of love and healing to the last person. Everyone left with new lifelong friends to stay in contact with.
The days are filled with activity and preparation to achieve your goals in both private and group sessions. There are also days to travel to Machu Picchu or hike one of the many mountains nearby to see the Salt Mines. They also provide a guided day tour to shopping at a local village.
The Shamans were amazing. They were extremely powerful and knowledgeable about energies and the plant medicine.
The medicine was powerful and led me to where I needed to go for my goals. The Shamans and staff understand what they are providing and guide all to achieve their goals with the plant medicine.
I highly recommend Arkana if you are looking for a plant medicine healing retreat.

April 2, 2019 at 1:13 pmFYI: this experience is for the Sacred Valley retreat.
I was lucky enough to spend a week at the retreat for my first ayahuasca experience. After a few years of interest I finally got the calling to come to Peru and after several weeks of research settled on Arkana.
It was truly one of the most amazing decisions I have ever made.
The setting is beautiful: a garden of Eden full of flowers, and hummingbirds set between mountains and a river on one side. As we entered the grass was impossibly bouncy underfoot and the most lovely dog greeted us at the door.
Everyone working at the retreat are awesome beautiful people. They did their best from day one to get to know us and help to prepare us and to settle the nerves. The love and vibes of the place is palpable from the moment you enter. They all have their own talents that they bring to group activities (yoga, meditation, sound meditation, beautiful music after the ceremonies, etc.)
The facilities are great, including the rooms: great shower and towels! There’s also unlimited fruit and delicious Hierba Luisa tea at the reception in addition to the delicious meals (including vegan options). Perfect after a night of purging
One of the greatest things about Arkana was being able to spend time with the shamans so that they could get to know you better to help you on your journey of healing. They care deeply about your healing and it is absolutely amazing that they share their experience with us. You are in the safest of hands here for sure.
Most amazingly for me was the lifelong friends that I have made during the retreat. After initial nerves and uncertainty everybody left with so much brotherly / sisterly love for each other. Hearing about everyone’s struggles and subsequent healing was remarkable. The sessions after the ceremonies turned out to be just as powerful as the experience itself. It was extremely emotional and heartwarming to observe everyone’s healing in progress.
We also had a couple outings as a group: to Pisac and local ruins, then to the impressive salt mines nearby.
The final day together was spent with Mr San Pedro where we trekked around the mountains. It was a beautiful day and the perfect way to cap off the trip.
If you are looking for healing and hear ayahuasca calling you then I certainly recommend Arkana with all my heart. The love that I have felt over this week will be with me forever and I aim to bring the best of me to everyone around me.
I wish you all the best of luck on your journeys.

April 2, 2019 at 11:17 amNo words can express the true benefit of my ayahuasca experience at the arkana retreat. Our language is finite and my communication with The Mother proved to me that love is truly infinite. My personal journey, like many looking at this review, started with difficulty of enjoying my life. Depression, anxiety, and anger plagued me and still can on occasion. But, now I know how to calmly deal with it, and put it aside. Ayahuasca is a personal training ground for life. Just like a martial artists practices in the gym, ayahuasca allows you to practice dealing with difficult personal situations. I learned how to love myself and what true love is. Just because I love my father dearly, doesn’t mean I love my mother any less. This perspective changed how I viewed the world. It is no longer, “I can’t believe this happened to me”, I see everything as an opportunity to learn and Grow. The environment you are in is the most trusting and loving I have ever been around. Every day you are encouraged to share publicly or personally one on one with what you’re working through. There are a plethora of mentors, shaman, and resources that you are bound to mesh with someone. I trust these people with my life, because they saved it. The growth I saw from my self and those around me was nothing short of amazing. The friends I made are eternal. If you are looking to grow, learn, and work through whatever plagues you, there is no better way to do it than working with Mother Ayahuasca at the Arkana Retreat.

March 27, 2019 at 10:23 pmI just returned home from my second trip to Arkana in Peru. My first visit was in November 2018 when I spent one week in the Sacred Valley followed by one week in the Amazon. My recent trip was spent in the Sacred Valley for one week in March 2019. I don’t know how to begin to describe my love and gratitude for the Arkana family and the sacred spaces they have created for the healing and transformation of others and in service to Mother Ayahuasca. The shamans, facilitators, and staff at each location are all highly competent and gifted and have mastered the art of holding sacred space for others with compassion and grace. The shamans and facilitators are all very generous of their attention, acceptance, love, wisdom, and creative talent. They supported my deep healing with the utmost love and care. My chronic asthma was healed in the jungle. My heart was opened and my capacity to love myself and others grew tremendously. My power, strength, and courage to be a source of light, love, and healing in this world were born in the arms of Ayahuasca.
I found the Sacred Valley center to be strongly feminine and the Amazon center to be strongly masculine. The balance and harmony created by visiting both in a single trip was noticeable. The Amazon is rustic with far fewer creature comforts than the Sacred Valley, which feels like a 4-star hotel comparatively, but some of my deepest healing happened in the jungle. They get right down to business when it comes to healing in the jungle. The bugs and heat become an afterthought. The food in each location was delicious, the music and singing was remarkable, and the willingness from staff to assist in all matters was exceptional.
I have felt more unconditional love at Arkana than I have in most relationships in my life. I look forward to visiting again in the future and keeping in touch with the people I formed strong bonds with on the journey. Aho!
