Arkana Spiritual Center

Iquitos and Urubamba in Peru

Our Program
At Arkana, we create the space for you to get in touch with your truth, opening your path for deeper meaning and greater fulfillment in your life. We work with ancestral medicines such as Ayahuasca, San Pedro, Bufo Alvarius, Rapé , using the traditional practices of the indigenous cultures of the Peruvian Amazon. We currently operate two centers in Peru, one in the Peruvian Amazon and a second one in the Sacred Valley (close to Machu Picchu), and one in Mexico, the choice is yours.

With great respect for the plants and the knowledge and healing that comes with them, our lineage of Shipibo shamans set the stage for truly deep and profound healing. Awaken your inner power through their sacred and powerful icaros (healing songs), and discover your connection to all things by exploring some of the 2.2 million hectare Pacaya Samiria National Reserve which is our backyard. Nourish your body and soul with fresh, clean, delicious meals that promote your Ayahuasca experience, and integrate healthy habits into your routine with our yoga classes and extensive selection of gym equipment for all levels. We believe the health of physical body sets the foundation for the health of the energetic body – Often ignored in this type of spiritual work, we find this to be an important part of the healing process, so you can begin implementing the healthy habits that will carry this work with you into your life back home. Finally, relax your mind and spirit with sound baths, meditations, breathwave sessions, and OM circles, or simply enjoy the tranquil views of both sunrise and sunset from our front porch on the banks of the Ucayali River, surrounded by lush biodiversity and the mesmerizing sounds of the jungle.

Arkana’s exceptional team of highly-trained Shipibo Master Shamans represent an unbroken lineage of plant medicine work. With a combined history of over 70 years of experience working closely with Ayahuasca and other master plant teachers of the jungle, our compassionate healers lovingly share their teachings, healing songs (icaros), capabilities, and knowledge with integrity and honor. We strive to maintain the traditional practices passed down through thousands of years of indigenous Amazonian culture, in order to continue to promote the true purpose and nature of plant medicine work.

Experiencing the medicines with us is a transformative personal journey, and so much more. We also work closely with our local community, the Amazonian village of Libertad, to ensure that our Center can benefit and give back to the people who have so generously let us into their homes and hearts. We create employment opportunities, teach free English classes, provide a space for the ladies to sell their handmade crafts, and assist in construction projects, among other things. Our latest endeavor is outfitting the entire village with free solar panels, so every house can have light and electricity. When you join us, you are helping the rainforest and the Amazon communities that live here.

Guests that come to our Center often say they feel like “part of the family” with us – that’s no coincidence, as we are one big family at Arkana! The people that are with you throughout your experience can simply facilitate your own healing journey or become an integral part of it. Our experienced, loving, and professional team of caregivers welcomes you to join our tribe, where we strive to make you feel at home and at ease, supported and cared for with all the love and compassion that is at the core of the plant medicines and people we work with.

Ayahuasca is a powerful medicine that offers us the opportunity to understand our true nature, by shining a light onto our darkness, and holding a mirror up to our fears, negative thought patterns, and self-limiting beliefs. We provide the environment and expertise of a team of highly skilled, warm, compassionate Shamans and facilitators to guide you through the process of awakening, of choosing differently, healing, and expanding. It is a slow but steady path towards freedom – from fear, from illusion, from self-constructed boundaries – resulting in a lighter, brighter, more authentic self, and the full experience of love. It is our honor to help you on this most fulfilling of all journeys: the journey back home.

We look forward to having you with us!

Lots of Love,
The Team

Last February I decided it was time to heal. I had been sexually abuse in 3 different occasions by 3 different people. I was so lost in pain and fear, I hear the call from mother ayahuasca and started my search for the best location for my journey. I read many reviews about Arkana and watch many YouTube videos to me my safety as well as authenticity and integrity of the place was very important.
After booking my retreat at Arkana in sacred valley. I was contacted by a doctor, needless to say that was a big PLUS for me. The doctor ask about my diet, health and pharmaceutical medications, he then gave me a specific diet for me to follow so that the ayahuasca medicine will work best.
Upon arriving to Cusco there was a shuttle waiting for all who will be a part of the journey and took us to arkana. Arkana in sacred valley is beautiful the rooms are so confortable, nice bathroom and they provide you with delicious meals cater to your diet needs, for example I am vegan so they had great options for me.
I met the wonderful shipibo shamans that would be sitting with me in ceremony. They asked me what would I like to work on and then they gave me plants to drink every morning to help me heal.
I had 3 ayahuasca ceremonies, everyone’s experience is different as for me the medicine truly healed a lot, specially fear as fear doesn’t really exist. I am in love with life and with healing, now I’m in a mission of healing with Mother Nature and all her children to co-create in peace and love.
Ps. A year later mother ayahuasca continues to help me and bring me beautiful ayahuasca brothers and sisters who are in this healing path as well. There’s so much beauty in this world

I really don’t even know where I can begin. Arkana spiritual center has truly been the most life-changing and profound experience of my past 27 years on this Earth. Arkana and Ayahuasca have changed my life. It would be impossible to put onto paper or into words the experience I had. Words cannot explain the feeling of intuitive understanding. Since language was created by man, it is inherently as limited as man is. It’s like when a person says “I can’t seem to find the words to express how I feel”. The feeling I had is is a similar feeling to that. Feeling is an emotion which in most situations can only be felt or understood and not verbalized. But in any case, I will do my best to explain the Awakening that I had at Arkana.
So to start, Ayahuasca has been the deepest psychedelic experience out of all of my previous experiences and I have had MANY. Nothing even comes close. I found and traveled through a wormhole to what people refer to as Enlightenment / Nirvana. I realized “The light at the end of the tunnel” or “The final destination” on one’s spiritual journey and the final destination is “God Consciousness”. While at arkana I realized that I was God, not made in the image of, but actually God, as in the creator of this universe and everything in it. The overall experience that I had at arkana brought me to realize who and what God is. God is our mind being used at 100%. There are large parts of our brains that we do not know how to use and if we did we would inch closer and closer to realizing that God Is our minds, God is in all of us, but until we unlock large portions of our brains capabilities we will never realize this fundamental truth and will continue giving our power, authority and belief to entities, beings, and deities outside of ourselves because we are blind to the fact that we have God and everything we need right inside of us. This thing we call Consciousness or mind is what God is but it’s this Consciousness or mind being fully used and utilized to its full potential. All human beings have God in their head.
While they are incarnated in this realm, we are only given default access to only 5% of minds power and therefore cannot realize that there’s another 95% that is accessible. This is because while we are experiencing this human existence, we identify with the “self” and therefore lose sight of all else. We are given an ego to be able to navigate in this realm but it is given at the cost of forgetting who we truly are. To incarnate from soul beings to human beings we make a trade which can be likened to trading everything for nothing. We give up infinite knowledge of all things for a chance to experience things and have feelings which is something only humans have. It’s like we sign up to be players in a game that we actually created but without the knowledge that we created it. The best analogy I can use is as follows:
It’s like the creator of Grand Theft Auto wanted to experience his game / creation so bad from the actual players point of view that he entered the game himself and erased all memory of his total knowledge of how the game works so that the experience could be fun and so that he could naturally learn how to beat his own creation. Coming into the game with knowledge of how the game works would in essence be cheating and would take away the fun of playing and finding out the way it was meant for us to. It would suck to create a game and enter the game with full knowledge of how you created it so you can easily cheat your way to the top. A much better experience would be to enter the game with no knowledge of how it works and see how many lives it would take for you to win the game fair and square. This is what God has done.
Every human being in existence is a form of God experiencing itself, trying to beat itself. This is what spirituality is. Spirituality is the road to beating the game. Without spiritual wisdom and understanding you are destined to keep dying and repeating the process of life over and over until you figure out how to beat the game. And this game never ends, it is going to continue infinitely because that is how it was made. The reason spirituality is the key, is because ultimately, spirituality will lead you to understanding that you created the game and will therefore and only at that point can you unlock the powers that the ultimate Creator obviously has access to. It’s like playing Grand Theft Auto and Until you realize you are God you never have access to the cheat codes…

This is what 7 days at Arkana has brought me to realize. Everything about the entire experience was perfect. The staff at Arkana have truly created a sanctuary and a safe haven where someone can go and find the answers to every question they have ever had. I know ayahuasca is the sacred medicine that brought about my realization but I truly feel that the environment of Arkana is what made the trip as impactful as it was. Their staff is so amazing. I have never felt as much love from strangers as what I felt with the Arkana facilitators. They are the real gems. the actual center itself is so beautiful and so secluded that it is like being in a fantasy world away from the real world. I really cant say enough about this place.

After my first trip in June of 2019 I returned 6 months later and brought my younger sister with me. The 2nd trip was even more amazing then the first. I made a commitment to myself that I would do all that I can to send everyone that I love to Arkana so they can experience what I experienced. It has been that impactful in my life. I have made the decision to travel here at minimum once yearly just to refresh and press the reset button on my life. In my opinion, this place is heaven on earth.

And by the way, I am not some hippie type spiritual nut. I am a successful entrepreneur from New York. I own two businesses and employ over 20 people. I am 28yrs old and consider myself an intellectual person who I do not give praise lightly. I am a hard person to impress because that’s just the way i am. But Arkana has literally brought me to my knees in sheer awe and amazement. I absolutely love Arkana and you will too. Peace and Blessings to you all. I wish you a safe journey! God is Great! Love. Where do you even begin to write a review about something that changes your life so dramatically. Arkana Spiritual Center is simply amazing and transformative. Jose has procured such a perfect combination of facilitators, shamans, staff and locations to help anyone achieve the Healing they seek. Ayahuasca is a powerful plant medicine and these days there are so many healers and retreats, that finding the right one is so very important. As soon as you arrive to Arkana, you feel the positive healing energy and it doesn’t ever stop. If you are at a point in your life that Mother Aya is calling to you, there is no better destination for your spiritual journey. Just like everyone else, I had doubts and reservations and was skeptical about the medicine. Jose and his staff put me at ease right away, and changed my life over the course of just one week. I am happier, stronger, more focused and more confident in my life journey, and I will definitely be going back to learn more, explore and grow further.

    Review for Arkana Spiritual Center
    Amazon Location
    February 2020

Hello, my name is Laura B. I just attended the Arkana Center one week retreat, and I am compelled with a deep sense of respect and gratitude to share my experience. I went to Arkana mainly with the intention of addressing the worsening depression and anxiety I’ve experienced for most of my life that has been ‘treated’ with medications. I felt like they really weren’t helping adequately, and heard that ayahuasca can be very therapeutic, especially in a ceremonial setting.
I’ll try to be brief, but let me just express that this was one of the most incredible, insightful, profound experiences of my life. It wasn’t even the part the medicine played, it was so much more. The knowledge shared by the staff, the loving healing energy bestowed by the shamans, the honesty that people exhibited when expressing themselves, the kind support offered by everyone there- those are just a few of the things you can expect at Arkana.
I believe the way to get the most out of your experience is to have an open mind, be completely honest, and trust in the process. Taking the medicine wasn’t always what I expected, but I was open to the possibilities of what I could learn, and I am walking away with more positive, empowering, healing lessons than I could have possibly hoped to acquire in such a short time.
Come prepared knowing that the jungle is a harsh environment; be appreciative that wherever you’re from isn’t probably so hot, humid, or filled with mosquitoes. Have some realistic expectations that you may be slightly uncomfortable physically, but use this as yet another opportunity to learn and be filled with a sense of gratitude, as I certainly was.

Good luck moving forward. I hope this review helps if you are undecided whether this is something that could benefit your life. It was an absolute Godsend for me and definitely worth the price. I am referring several of my loved ones who I feel would benefit from a retreat, and am already thinking of revisiting someday.

Arkana Spiritual Center was absolutely amazing!

José and his team were great in every way. I felt very safe the entire time I was there. The food was very tasty and wonderful. The place is clean and very well maintained.

My experience at Arkana was more than I could ever expect. I see my life as pre Arkana and post Arkana. I am a changed man.

Trust the process, go with love and do the work.

It is worth every penny and more! Oh, get the Sapo experience, it is worth it.
