Arkana Spiritual Center

Iquitos and Urubamba in Peru

Our Program
At Arkana, we create the space for you to get in touch with your truth, opening your path for deeper meaning and greater fulfillment in your life. We work with ancestral medicines such as Ayahuasca, San Pedro, Bufo Alvarius, Rapé , using the traditional practices of the indigenous cultures of the Peruvian Amazon. We currently operate two centers in Peru, one in the Peruvian Amazon and a second one in the Sacred Valley (close to Machu Picchu), and one in Mexico, the choice is yours.

With great respect for the plants and the knowledge and healing that comes with them, our lineage of Shipibo shamans set the stage for truly deep and profound healing. Awaken your inner power through their sacred and powerful icaros (healing songs), and discover your connection to all things by exploring some of the 2.2 million hectare Pacaya Samiria National Reserve which is our backyard. Nourish your body and soul with fresh, clean, delicious meals that promote your Ayahuasca experience, and integrate healthy habits into your routine with our yoga classes and extensive selection of gym equipment for all levels. We believe the health of physical body sets the foundation for the health of the energetic body – Often ignored in this type of spiritual work, we find this to be an important part of the healing process, so you can begin implementing the healthy habits that will carry this work with you into your life back home. Finally, relax your mind and spirit with sound baths, meditations, breathwave sessions, and OM circles, or simply enjoy the tranquil views of both sunrise and sunset from our front porch on the banks of the Ucayali River, surrounded by lush biodiversity and the mesmerizing sounds of the jungle.

Arkana’s exceptional team of highly-trained Shipibo Master Shamans represent an unbroken lineage of plant medicine work. With a combined history of over 70 years of experience working closely with Ayahuasca and other master plant teachers of the jungle, our compassionate healers lovingly share their teachings, healing songs (icaros), capabilities, and knowledge with integrity and honor. We strive to maintain the traditional practices passed down through thousands of years of indigenous Amazonian culture, in order to continue to promote the true purpose and nature of plant medicine work.

Experiencing the medicines with us is a transformative personal journey, and so much more. We also work closely with our local community, the Amazonian village of Libertad, to ensure that our Center can benefit and give back to the people who have so generously let us into their homes and hearts. We create employment opportunities, teach free English classes, provide a space for the ladies to sell their handmade crafts, and assist in construction projects, among other things. Our latest endeavor is outfitting the entire village with free solar panels, so every house can have light and electricity. When you join us, you are helping the rainforest and the Amazon communities that live here.

Guests that come to our Center often say they feel like “part of the family” with us – that’s no coincidence, as we are one big family at Arkana! The people that are with you throughout your experience can simply facilitate your own healing journey or become an integral part of it. Our experienced, loving, and professional team of caregivers welcomes you to join our tribe, where we strive to make you feel at home and at ease, supported and cared for with all the love and compassion that is at the core of the plant medicines and people we work with.

Ayahuasca is a powerful medicine that offers us the opportunity to understand our true nature, by shining a light onto our darkness, and holding a mirror up to our fears, negative thought patterns, and self-limiting beliefs. We provide the environment and expertise of a team of highly skilled, warm, compassionate Shamans and facilitators to guide you through the process of awakening, of choosing differently, healing, and expanding. It is a slow but steady path towards freedom – from fear, from illusion, from self-constructed boundaries – resulting in a lighter, brighter, more authentic self, and the full experience of love. It is our honor to help you on this most fulfilling of all journeys: the journey back home.

We look forward to having you with us!

Lots of Love,
The Team

Arkana provides the most beautiful setting, all the tools you need to create the right set, and the right doses (ayahuasca and peyote when I was there) —and it’s all completely safe and thoroughly enjoyable and enlightening and legal.

All of this is accomplished with the care and expertise and respect you would expect from a fully professional organization.

    Hi everyone!

So, I spent a week at Arkana Spiritual Center Yucatan from 4/4 – 4/10 and it was an extraordinary time from start to finish. I highly recommend their facility to anyone looking for an Ayahuasca, San Pedro (Peyote), and/or 5-MEO-DMT (Bufo Alvarius) experience in a safe, welcoming, and ceremonial setting.

Firstly, I appreciated the shuttle bus service to and from the retreat center. The meet-up location was a hotel close to the Cancun International Airport which was convenient considering it was my first time in Mexico and I did not know my way around (yet!). It did cost extra to ride on the shuttle bus, but it was money well used as it gave me an opportunity to chat with other attendees and bond before (and after) the retreat technically even started.

Secondly, upon arrival to the Yucatan hacienda I immediately noticed that it is well maintained for its placement in the Mexican/Mayan jungle. Borderline luxury as there are bathroom with showers and sinks with running water (hot or cold), rooms that have electricity to power fans for hot days, a dining hall where their kitchen serves 2-3 enjoyable meals a day (quantity of meals per day depending on if there was a ceremony that night), but also a large presence of nature like iguanas seen roaming through the retreat foliage or mosquitos that try to bite you all night during ceremonies outdoors. The amenities were outstanding, and personally I think the iguanas, ants, mosquitos and such added to the authenticity of the experience.

Thirdly, the medicines served during the week I had chosen were Ayahuasca, San Pedro, and 5-MEO-DMT. All of which were, in my opinion, administered in a respectful setting to their traditional indigenous history. It was great to experience the ceremonial/ritualistic aspect of the experience because I feel it strengthened my connection to the plant and ancestor spirits. I especially loved the icaros that the shamans sang. There was a lot of purging for me over the span of 4 night ceremonies (2 San Pedro, 2 Aya), so be prepared to clean your aura and experience the healing of a lifetime, perhaps even the healing of multiple lifetimes!

Fourth, the staff there was courteous, friendly, and supportive people that I enjoyed spending a week learning from and learning with. Most every facilitator played a musical instrument and would guide the ceremonies with singing and playing. Their musical abilities were unmatched and a real treat to have in the sacred spaces, especially Ariel. Also, there were several moments where I must have been real spaced out during a ceremony where they would come over to check on me and give me love and support which was a real help. It was nice to be around people I felt I could trust in those vulnerable moments. Special shoutout to Dakota Wint, Pete and Jose whom I got to know the best out of all them.

Lastly, I loved the shamans Marakame Juan, Maestra Justina, and Maestro Misael. I feel blessed to have been in the same room as them because I know that their presence and Icaros were a tremendous part in the healing and cleansing I endured. Even while sitting in a pitch-black room on Ayahuasca I could feel their light and their warmth and it was so profound. You must meet them.

All in all, if you are someone looking to have a genuine spiritual experience in a safe, ceremonial setting then Arkana Ayahuasca is the place for you! In Justina we trust!

I spent two weeks at the Arkana Spiritual Center in Mexico in spring 2021. This was one of the most amazing and transformational experiences of my life. Beginning a few months before my retreat I was hearing the call within myself to work with ayahuasca in ceremony. As I began to do my research I became aware of how many options there are out there. I sorted through countless reviews and webpages of potential locations and making a decision started to feel overwhelming, until I found Arkana. Everything I read about them through reviews and the information that was available on their website made me feel at ease and inspired and excited. It just felt right and I knew that Arkana was where I wanted to go. I can say without a doubt that I am so grateful to my intuition and research to leading me to this special place. I know I chose well. Everything about Arkana was perfectly organized and presented. I felt safe, comfortable, and that all my needs were met so that I could relax and surrender and dedicate myself to the healing and experience of working with plant medicines. The facilitators and staff were amazing souls who approach their mission of helping others with love, kindness, compassion, and grace. Everything about this organization is beautiful and I am so grateful that they are a part of my life. I know I will return to Arkana again. I highly recommend Arkana to anyone who is seeking or is being called to work with plant medicine.

I spent one week at the arkana retreat in Mexico. I came in with very little expectations as it was my first retreat. I was blown away by the level hospitality, service, love and caring recorded by all the staff at Arkana. They truly make you feel at home!

The ceremonies were absolutely amazing. The music that accompanied the ceremonies still gives me chills thinking about it today. Truly one of the best experiences of my life.

I could not have asked for a better first experience and I will forever be grateful to the arkana family. I look forward to visiting then next time in Peru!

Arkana Spiritual Centre – Yucatan, Mexico
    7 Day Retreat from April 4-10th / 2021.

Arkana Spiritual Centre!… Thank you for nourishing my zest for life and deepening my understanding of self love and connection : )

If you’re reading this, you’ve come across an incredible organization that takes your hand upon arrival and holds it warmly until you depart. Each member of the Arkana staff offers their light and guidance in the most extraordinary way. They seem to have this knowing intuition of each individuals needs along their unique, spiritual journey. Their presence is a sincere gift – one that makes you feel completely safe, protected, comforted, respected and ready to jump into the ocean of your spiritual travels.

This was my first time inviting the plant medicines of Ayahuasca, Hikuri (Peyote) and Sapo (Bufo Alvarius) into my body and spiritual practice. Each plant medicine ceremony was so incredibly beautiful and profound that it’s difficult to articulate. I encourage you to attend, so you too can become awestruck at their beauty and power : ) The shamans who come to Arkana to offer their expertise are some of the most extraordinary people I’ve ever met. Their devotion, sacrifice and deep wells of compassion are bottomless. They give everything they have to each ceremony. The amount of energy expelled seems almost unbelievable… how do they do it?! Singing Icaros all evening long until the sky begins to brighten! Marakame Juan, Maestra Justina, Maestro Misael and Musician Ariel – Thank you for demonstrating selflessness, kindness and deep knowing. I will forever appreciate the healing atmosphere you orchestrated.

Arkana helped me step into my authentic and genuine self. I’m more freed from past inhibitions. Strangers appear as divine creatures and I try to show them love by simply smiling. I feel more present and have harnessed the breath work exercises to bring calm and ease into my moments.
I’ve got a long road ahead but Arkana has provided me the roadmap and foresight to endeavour on : )

Partaking in ceremony with the sacred plant medicines is no easy venture. It’s soul surgery. I feel no need to look any further for my place of ceremony and healing. Arkana is my home and community. The world would be a much more loving and vibrant place if every human could spend a week there! My boyfriend and I both look forward to our next journey at Arkana ❤️

Best wishes to you! May you find an open heart and awakened spirit : ) Much love fellow travellers!
