Our Program
At Arkana, we create the space for you to get in touch with your truth, opening your path for deeper meaning and greater fulfillment in your life. We work with ancestral medicines such as Ayahuasca, San Pedro, Bufo Alvarius, Rapé , using the traditional practices of the indigenous cultures of the Peruvian Amazon. We currently operate two centers in Peru, one in the Peruvian Amazon and a second one in the Sacred Valley (close to Machu Picchu), and one in Mexico, the choice is yours.

With great respect for the plants and the knowledge and healing that comes with them, our lineage of Shipibo shamans set the stage for truly deep and profound healing. Awaken your inner power through their sacred and powerful icaros (healing songs), and discover your connection to all things by exploring some of the 2.2 million hectare Pacaya Samiria National Reserve which is our backyard. Nourish your body and soul with fresh, clean, delicious meals that promote your Ayahuasca experience, and integrate healthy habits into your routine with our yoga classes and extensive selection of gym equipment for all levels. We believe the health of physical body sets the foundation for the health of the energetic body – Often ignored in this type of spiritual work, we find this to be an important part of the healing process, so you can begin implementing the healthy habits that will carry this work with you into your life back home. Finally, relax your mind and spirit with sound baths, meditations, breathwave sessions, and OM circles, or simply enjoy the tranquil views of both sunrise and sunset from our front porch on the banks of the Ucayali River, surrounded by lush biodiversity and the mesmerizing sounds of the jungle.

Arkana’s exceptional team of highly-trained Shipibo Master Shamans represent an unbroken lineage of plant medicine work. With a combined history of over 70 years of experience working closely with Ayahuasca and other master plant teachers of the jungle, our compassionate healers lovingly share their teachings, healing songs (icaros), capabilities, and knowledge with integrity and honor. We strive to maintain the traditional practices passed down through thousands of years of indigenous Amazonian culture, in order to continue to promote the true purpose and nature of plant medicine work.

Experiencing the medicines with us is a transformative personal journey, and so much more. We also work closely with our local community, the Amazonian village of Libertad, to ensure that our Center can benefit and give back to the people who have so generously let us into their homes and hearts. We create employment opportunities, teach free English classes, provide a space for the ladies to sell their handmade crafts, and assist in construction projects, among other things. Our latest endeavor is outfitting the entire village with free solar panels, so every house can have light and electricity. When you join us, you are helping the rainforest and the Amazon communities that live here.

Guests that come to our Center often say they feel like “part of the family” with us – that’s no coincidence, as we are one big family at Arkana! The people that are with you throughout your experience can simply facilitate your own healing journey or become an integral part of it. Our experienced, loving, and professional team of caregivers welcomes you to join our tribe, where we strive to make you feel at home and at ease, supported and cared for with all the love and compassion that is at the core of the plant medicines and people we work with.

Ayahuasca is a powerful medicine that offers us the opportunity to understand our true nature, by shining a light onto our darkness, and holding a mirror up to our fears, negative thought patterns, and self-limiting beliefs. We provide the environment and expertise of a team of highly skilled, warm, compassionate Shamans and facilitators to guide you through the process of awakening, of choosing differently, healing, and expanding. It is a slow but steady path towards freedom – from fear, from illusion, from self-constructed boundaries – resulting in a lighter, brighter, more authentic self, and the full experience of love. What can I say that would add to the other amazing reviews of arkana? From the renowned shamans to the gentle and amazing facilitators, arkana Amazon is one the greatest place I’ve ever been to. The ayahuasca brew is strong and real. The excursions are extremely memorable and the food was amazing. On top of having the most profound experience of my life I also gained a new soul family from the people I’ve participated with. We’re all super close and would recommend anyone to go to arkana. The price for everything is a steal too. Please go to arkana, you’ll heal profoundly.

I went into this experience with an open mind. Focused on healing old wounds, releasing what no longer served me, clarity and looking for direction or guidance in life. The events that unfolded were nothing like I expected, and frankly one of the most challenging experiences I ever went through. All that to say that I could not imagine going through what I did anywhere else other than Arkana, Sacred Valley. Many people are called to ayahuasca, but few facilities are as equipped and experienced as Arkana. I didn’t go for the large crowd or glamourous amenities, not because I couldn’t, but because I wanted authenticity. I wanted to respect the medicine and find facilitators that live and breathe grandmother. I am so incredibly grateful for the experience of Herminio, Wilemina, Fernanda, Daniella, and so many others. My group was six, and they’ve become family. In my opinion there is no other way to experience mother aya other than in the comfort of wise, caring experienced facilitators while surrounded by nature and food tailored for you. Arkana Sacred Valley is not as commercial as it seems, but it’s exactly as it should be. Loved, loved, loved my experience! Thank you for creating a space that is adapted for the types of challenges one could face under this medicine, and the type of healing that comes with seeing the entire experience through to the end. If you’re looking for authenticity, experience, and care, Arkana Sacred Valley is exactly what you need.

My experience at Arkana Sacred Valley was so much more than I could have imagined. All of the planning and logistics before arriving made things clear and easy to follow. Upon arrival to to the center we were welcomed with open arms, music, and smiling faces! After a little orientation to get acquainted we were shown our rooms and Javier helped with our luggage. The accommodations around the property and the rooms themselves were more comfortable than expected and everything within the retreat center is well maintained. The food is Par To None! All fresh ingredients right from the Sacred Valley and recipes everyone was asking for! The Facilitators there did an amazing job. Coleman was so helpful in delivering all of the information, answering any questions and translating Spanish to English at all times throughout the process. Fernanda was like your favorite Tia (Aunt) she has a warmth and strength to her that helped guide us through the ceremonies. Julian has a calm soul that makes you want to be like him once you know his insight and his performance with his guitar makes the heart sing! The entire staff at Arkana Sacred Valley that takes care of the grounds, prepares the food, and takes care of all of the behind the scenes are caring, welcoming and professional. Throughout the Ceremonies I experienced different transformations and learned so many lessons along the way. My life is forever changed from this place. Special thanks to Gloria for her healing art of Reiki and Acupressure, as well as Julia for her magical hands within her massage therapy. Jose’s yoga sessions were unlike any I’ve experienced and will change my practice forever. The family I’ve gained not only in the Arkana Maestros (Shamans) Wilma and Hermino, the facilitators, the entire staff, but also the members that were along side of me in the retreat as well! This has been the most amazing experience of my life. I have seen profound healing within my body and my mind. I can take so many lessons away from here to continue to put into practice in my daily life. If you’re a person experiencing doubt, go to Arkana Sacred Valley and see this powerful plant medicine for yourself. It is all within us to heal and there is nothing to be fearful of. Life contains everything we need right within the path we walk and the friends and family we share. I recently had the opportunity to go to the Arkana Spiritual Center in the Sacred Valley of Peru with my wife and experience the most profound and valuable trip we have ever been on. The staff at Arkana Spiritual Center in the Sacred Valley is what allowed for such profound internal shifts to take place; the entire team, including the Shamans, kitchen staff, musicians, Rafa the hiking guide, Fernanda, Theo, Coleman, Mike, and everyone else, created a courageous space for all of the guest to step into the best versions of themselves while exploring each of our own healing processes. Each of us that were there at Arkana came in as separated people, and by the end of the retreat, you couldn’t help but leave as a family, one that values each other deeply for all that they are; the good, the challenging, and all the in-between that each of us are working on daily. Not only did the Arkana staff give us a platform for growth and development they also gave us a path of integration that we could take home with us to continue on our healing journey; if you could make one trip in this lifetime, we would empower you to invest in yourself and experience the opportunity you get when arriving at the Arkana Spiritual Center in Peru; you will not regret it. The medicine work that is done in the Sacred Valley will bring about a deep respect for the plants that are used, and all earth medicine that is available. The last thing I’d like to share is the meaning of Arkana; it was told to us that it means Protected, and when you stay there, that’s exactly what you are. When you leave, you leave as an Arkana Angel, one that is full of light & love and ready to share all of who you are with the world around you. Don’t wait any longer to experience the healing that happens when you step into yourself and become an Arkana Angel.

My son and I attended a two-week retreat at Arkana Spiritual Center in the Sacred Valley of Peru. I will say upfront that it was the most transformational and growth-accelerating two weeks of my life, and it saved my son’s life. He came to Arkana as a last hope, suffering from severe anxiety, depression, and hopelessness. I would have to let him explain his own experience at Arkana, but what I can say is that he returned home with renewed hope and an easing of his anxiety and fear. He no longer talks about ending his life, and he is taking the steps necessary to move his life in a new direction.

As I mentioned, my two weeks in the sacred valley were the most transformational of my life. I have been a meditator and spiritual practitioner for over 25 years, and that foundation set me up perfectly for what I experienced at Arkana. The ayahuasca ceremonies, San Pedro ceremonies, and sapo ceremony all worked together to help me break through the defensive barriers of my past conditioning and experience a new realm of spiritual understanding and expression. Those ceremonies also helped me confront and work through past traumas, resulting in deep inner healing.

All of this was accomplished because of the wonderful container of healing and growth that is in place at Arkana Sacred Valley. The shamans and facilitators are not only extremely professional and skilled, but they are kind, generous, and compassionate in their work. The setting along the banks of the Urubamba River is beautiful, serene, and healing. The staff is friendly and helpful–the perfect support team for the work being done there. The food was delicious, the grounds and rooms clean and appealing, and the attention to detail and willingness to help in whatever way needed was excellent. Finally, my fellow retreat participants were kind, considerate, compassionate, open minded and open hearted. They were all there for the same reasons as I was: to learn, grow, and heal. Put all of this together, and the result is the perfect container for participants to relax, trust, and dive deeply into their inner world–confident that they will be guided and supported with mastery and skill.

I highly recommend Arkana Spiritual Center in the Sacred Valley. Both my son and I returned home transformed and renewed. It is up to us now to continue that work through the application of our integration practices, but Arkana Sacred Valley blessed us with the gifts of light, love, and hope.
