Arkana Spiritual Center

Iquitos and Urubamba in Peru

Our Program
At Arkana, we create the space for you to get in touch with your truth, opening your path for deeper meaning and greater fulfillment in your life. We work with ancestral medicines such as Ayahuasca, San Pedro, Bufo Alvarius, Rapé , using the traditional practices of the indigenous cultures of the Peruvian Amazon. We currently operate two centers in Peru, one in the Peruvian Amazon and a second one in the Sacred Valley (close to Machu Picchu), and one in Mexico, the choice is yours.

With great respect for the plants and the knowledge and healing that comes with them, our lineage of Shipibo shamans set the stage for truly deep and profound healing. Awaken your inner power through their sacred and powerful icaros (healing songs), and discover your connection to all things by exploring some of the 2.2 million hectare Pacaya Samiria National Reserve which is our backyard. Nourish your body and soul with fresh, clean, delicious meals that promote your Ayahuasca experience, and integrate healthy habits into your routine with our yoga classes and extensive selection of gym equipment for all levels. We believe the health of physical body sets the foundation for the health of the energetic body – Often ignored in this type of spiritual work, we find this to be an important part of the healing process, so you can begin implementing the healthy habits that will carry this work with you into your life back home. Finally, relax your mind and spirit with sound baths, meditations, breathwave sessions, and OM circles, or simply enjoy the tranquil views of both sunrise and sunset from our front porch on the banks of the Ucayali River, surrounded by lush biodiversity and the mesmerizing sounds of the jungle.

Arkana’s exceptional team of highly-trained Shipibo Master Shamans represent an unbroken lineage of plant medicine work. With a combined history of over 70 years of experience working closely with Ayahuasca and other master plant teachers of the jungle, our compassionate healers lovingly share their teachings, healing songs (icaros), capabilities, and knowledge with integrity and honor. We strive to maintain the traditional practices passed down through thousands of years of indigenous Amazonian culture, in order to continue to promote the true purpose and nature of plant medicine work.

Experiencing the medicines with us is a transformative personal journey, and so much more. We also work closely with our local community, the Amazonian village of Libertad, to ensure that our Center can benefit and give back to the people who have so generously let us into their homes and hearts. We create employment opportunities, teach free English classes, provide a space for the ladies to sell their handmade crafts, and assist in construction projects, among other things. Our latest endeavor is outfitting the entire village with free solar panels, so every house can have light and electricity. When you join us, you are helping the rainforest and the Amazon communities that live here.

Guests that come to our Center often say they feel like “part of the family” with us – that’s no coincidence, as we are one big family at Arkana! The people that are with you throughout your experience can simply facilitate your own healing journey or become an integral part of it. Our experienced, loving, and professional team of caregivers welcomes you to join our tribe, where we strive to make you feel at home and at ease, supported and cared for with all the love and compassion that is at the core of the plant medicines and people we work with.

Ayahuasca is a powerful medicine that offers us the opportunity to understand our true nature, by shining a light onto our darkness, and holding a mirror up to our fears, negative thought patterns, and self-limiting beliefs. We provide the environment and expertise of a team of highly skilled, warm, compassionate Shamans and facilitators to guide you through the process of awakening, of choosing differently, healing, and expanding. It is a slow but steady path towards freedom – from fear, from illusion, from self-constructed boundaries – resulting in a lighter, brighter, more authentic self, and the full experience of love. It is our honor to help you on this most fulfilling of all journeys: the journey back home.

We look forward to having you with us!

Lots of Love,
The Team

If you’re looking to do Ayahuasca in the Amazon, you really can’t go wrong with Pulse Tours, aka The Ayahuasca Adventure Center. I was initially skeptical of all the five-star ratings on the site, as such perfect praise sounds suspicious, however I can assure you all the reviews are honest and true. Dan and Tatyana, along with the rest of those involved, are people you can trust, which is something quite valuable when you’re going to do ayahuasca in the Amazon. The center itself was in a nice location, with some glorious night skies, sunrises and sunsets to be witnessed. Victor provides some exciting outings into the jungle between ceremonies, usually looking for wildlife [Victor’s enthusiasm for finding wildlife is wonderful!] and demonstrating the various medicinal uses for the plants that grow in it. It’s also good to know that the center feels it has a responsibility to the neighbouring village, and the amiable relationship between the two was evident. In short, Pulse Tours are good, capable people, who are absolutely deserving of every single five-star rating on this site.

I just got back from the 8 day ayahuasca adventure and it was the single most important trip of my life. I’d say my only regret is I didn’t book this soon enough (work obligations) and get on the 14 day trip including Machu Picchu. Perhaps next time! Regardless I had a fantastic time. Tatyana kept in contact with me throughout the booking process, and answered my questions thoroughly and promptly.

This was my first experience (ever) with any psychedelics, and I am so glad Pulse exists. They made it much more than just an ayahuasca experience, it was so much more. Jungle excursions, hands on experience with wildlife (holding a sloth, catching a cayman, spotting pink dolphins, etc) You are in very good hands with Victor.

When I landed in Peru I was very nervous, I didn’t know what to expect but when I met everyone in the group it was an instant bond. I can call everyone in the group a friend, it was sad to say goodbye to everyone. Dan and Tatyana are amazing people doing a very good thing for humanity. You are in good hands with these folks!

The Kambo ceremony was pretty intense but I’m glad I did it. Very energizing indeed. The ayahuasca ceremonies were so beautiful and felt like I was participating in something traditional and sacred. I learned so much about myself and that was otherwise unaccessible. I just want to thank Dan and Tatyana, you both are such beautiful people are changing lives 1 group at a time. Wiler and Angela were the Shamans that ran the ceremonies and their voices are spectacular. And Daniel, for really being the most positive person ever. From what you told me you’ve done 100 of ceremonies and each one meant something different to you. You’re an inspiration to be brave in the journey. And Victor the wild man! Catching cayman like nobody’s business. Can’t wait to do it again!

It took me about 3 or 4 false starts before I finally took the plunge and committed to joining Pulse Tours’ 14-day Ayahuasca Amazon adventure. I’m glad I did.

Dan, Tatyana and Victor are the most caring and considerate guides you could ask for.

From the beginning, Tatyana got to know me and talked me through some of my jitters. Once I was there, Victor and Dan provided just the right mix of help, guidance and fun.

    Yes, fun!

It’s not a word you hear tossed around a lot in Ayahuasca retreat reviews, but I believe it’s something that sets Pulse apart. While other retreats offer a wholly monastic experience with the medicine, Dan, Tatyana and Victor believe that you can help heal yourself while also having a good time. That’s why exploring Iquitos, spending time in nature, and getting to know your fellow travelers are all on the agenda.

It may not be for everyone, but in my personal experience these outside “fun” factors aren’t just fluff, they lead to a better, safer and more centered ayahuasca experience for everyone.

Now, fair warning: you will get dirty. You will get bug-bitten. You might even find yourself sinking into a mudhole off the riverbank while an an enormous Amazon anteater comes up to inspect you. (Maybe that was just me.)

But if you’re feeling ready to step outside of your comfort zone and have an unforgettable adventure, I don’t think you’ll regret looking into Pulse Tours.

OK…. Some journeys and tours and distant adventures are, entertaining, yes and great fun BUT… some few have the power to change your life like opening a wonder filled window into worlds NEVER suspected. This tour IS an adventure and it will set your PULSE a pumping. Damn, Dan attracts people that somehow provide a quality of commendatory I have never been so lucky to find before.

I have explored psychedelics all the way back to the 60’s and know the territory well so what’s new with what Dan is offering? In short, knowledge, native connection and the best, safest environment. As a bonus… I got to meet and touch my wildest inner animal… oh, that was powerful AND then… just as some say, but you don’t believe it til it happens to you… I heard the voice of mother jungle. How do you explain things like that! You don’t try. But the power of it stays with you… now a year later I am definitely connected… without being too woo woo; I am an adult male with a history of success in business and straight society and while i keep it a little on the down low I am powered by my inner experience. Thank you Dan!

I wanted the wet, rich, deep wild jungle experience and I definitely got to check that off my bucket list. THEN We went from the mysterious canopy worlds all the way to the highest most sacred majestic ruins in human history… Machu Pichu! Jesus, as if that wasn’t enough, I fell in love with all the people that I met and traveled with and still have the feeling of them ‘by my side’.

And we all parted grateful for Dan and Tatyana’s labor of love. Good luck and great travels should you choose this mission….

Like most people that I met while on my trip to Peru, I first heard about this profound medicine on the Joe Rogan Experience podcast a few years ago. Ever since I heard about it, going to Peru for the authentic shamanic experience in the jungle was added to the bucket list.

Luckily I got that chance to scratch it off the list this year, doing the tour from Sept 13-26. After a lot of research, Pulse Tours had the most appeal because I wanted to do a week at an ayahuasca retreat and tour Peru, and this offered both in one package. Other reasons for choosing this kind of tour were simple, I wasn’t familiar at all with the country, culture, jungle, and I never spoke any Spanish. Having tour guides around 24/7 was a very handy thing, especially since I didn’t learn any Spanish at all before leaving, I only bought a Spanish-English dictionary (in hindsight, I probably should have learned a few phrases and numbers for purchasing things!).

I’m not sure if I was just lucky, or if this kind of tour just attracts a unique crowd, but the group I ended up joining was amazing. We all had a great time together with absolutely no drama in the mix.

All of the tour guides are extremely friendly, professional, and genuinely just want to see everyone get the most of their time in Peru and have an experience they will never forget.

The mix of touring the cities and spending a week in the jungle was perfect. The accommodations in both the cities and the ayahuasca retreat were very comfortable.

I won’t get into the ayahuasca experience itself because as you will learn, it is completely different for everyone. What I can say is that it is very common to witness positive changes in the people around you, and yourself after. Personally I did have my own epiphanies after each ceremony, realizing something new about myself, or the way I perceive reality. One of the unexpected results was that I quit smoking marijuana after my 2nd ceremony, without any real desire to quit before that (had smoked a lot for over a decade). I haven’t actually smoked anything since then, and to this day there is no appeal for me to start again. Just that one change alone has brought a new sense of clarity into my life.

If touring Peru and trying ayahuasca is something you are interested in, you can’t really go wrong in choosing Pulse Tours, you are going to have an amazing time that is guaranteed to be completely different than any other holiday you have ever been on!
