Note: We have two locations: Pintag (near Quito) and Mindo cloudforest.
Are you seeking to reconnect with your origin, with gratitude and compassion? Do you seek profound and yet simple truths that will guide your life and empower you to make important decisions? We invite you to join one of our ayahuasca retreats in Ecuador.
Alma Healing Center is a place for you to safely explore, heal and grow with the use of ancestral medicine. Our retreats are small and authentic; we do not run a large operation – expect real, new friendships after your time with us.
We are a women-run retreat center and ceremonies are led by Paulina, an Ecuadorian medicine woman dedicated to supporting others in their healing journey with 25 years of experience in the medicine path. Her partner, Sandra, manages the logistics and provides assistance during retreats/ceremonies as well as music and translation. During some of the retreats, we are also joined by a Shuar grandmother, Rosa, and medicine woman Shiram Ucucuy, among other individuals in the medicine path.
While our ceremonies and rituals are rooted in Amazonian (Shuar), Andean, and, at times, Meso-American traditions (temazcal, teepee), what sets us apart is our integration of non-traditional approaches and perspectives when working with these sacred and potent medicines. We are a 100% inclusive space (as long as you pass our health screening for your own safety 🙂 and we firmly believe in the power of master plants, as well as other healing arts and creative practices that promote wellness, coping and personal change.
Apart from Ayahuasca, we also work with San Pedro (Huachuma), Hape/Rapé and Peyote. We currently have two retreat spaces, one near Quito in the town of Pintag (50 mins drive from Quito center, 40 mins from the airport) and another in Mindo cloudforest, about 2.5 hours drive from Quito.
What We Offer – Our Retreats and CeremoniesIn Pintag (near Quito) and Mindo, you’ll find a number of retreat offerings.
Monthly, we offer:
Annually (sometimes 2x per year), we offer:
In addition to the above, we offer private ayahuasca ceremonies, San Pedro hike experiences near Quito and private or group mushrooms ceremonies. Prices vary but normally range from $350 pp (1 person); $250 pp (2-4 people); $150 (4+ people).
We work near Quito in a town called Pintag and also in Mindo cloudforest, about 2-2.5 hrs drive from Quito.
In Pintag, we offer a ceremonial space in the countryside, about 40-50 minutes drive from Quito. Guests stay at a nearby, beautiful house during the 5 day retreats.
In Mindo, we us another beautiful space in nature.
We sometimes travel to provide ceremonies to groups in other sections of Ecuador and internationally, however costs vary for these types of private ayahuasca retreats and ceremonies. Please get in touch if you’re interested in this option.

Most of our retreats are led by a same-sex couple and we encourage members of the LGBTQIA+ population to join us. This is a safe space for you to work through trauma and be vulnerable.
Unfortunately, there is a lot of homophobic and conservative thinking in medicine circles, whether traditional or not. This is something we have experienced first hand in a few ceremony spaces which is why we emphasize inclusion so much in our own retreats. As long as you can safely consume ayahuasca, you are welcome here. However, we expect all participants to come with an open mind and an open heart.
As a women-led retreat space, we invite female pairs and travelers to join us and assure that you will be safe with us. Plant medicines can put us in very vulnerable places, emotionally, physically, energetically. During our ceremonies, we are watching over you and require participants to keep to themselves. We also expect participants to follow our guidelines so we can watch over them (no walking off in the middle of the ceremony, stay with us in the space).
During our 5 day retreats, apart from how you arrive to the retreat on Day 1, you will be with us, including when we travel to the beautiful Mindo cloudforest. This retreat is a safe way to explore Ecuador.
Looking forward to sharing with you all,
-the Alma team

March 2, 2024 at 9:40 pmWords cannot express my deepest, sincerest gratitude to Alma Healing Center! This has been such an intense, profound experience and I cannot wait to continue my healing process. My life will never be the same & I’m forever blessed!
Pintag was a great introduction but Mindo Cloud Forest was absolutely exceptional and I loved every moment! Totally recommended.
Thank you, Sandra for making me feel so comfortable in this beautifully safe space from the very beginning through communication. Your words, your music, your sweet melodies are in my head and continue to be in my heart!
My love to Pauli for nurturing and guiding me throughout this life-changing journey! You allowed me to feel, see & learn things I never imagined. Your special prayers continue to impact my life as I still hear your beautiful voice. Thank you for caring for me as I needed you most!
I’ll always be grateful to each and every one of you for being vulnerable and allowing me to be open as well. I look forward to seeing you again to share our new chapters in life~

March 2, 2024 at 12:38 amI did the 5 day ayahuasca retreat with Pauli and Sandra and had such an amazing experience. They made me feel so welcome and safe, like part of the family. Both ayahuasca ceremonies were beautiful, the second one during the day takes place in the jungle in Mindo – an incredible setting. Everyone on the retreat was wonderful as well and I’m so grateful to have met them all and shared such a moving experience.
I would 100% recommend Alma to anyone who feels called to ayahuasca. I can’t wait to go back next year.

January 20, 2024 at 8:14 pmAlma Healing Center exceeded my expectations in every way. Paulina leads the ayahuasca ceremonies with loving compassion and depth and prepares the sweetest ayahuasca I have ever tasted (no sugar added though!). She carries profound wisdom and experience. Her partner, Sandra, sings beautifully and has an incredible kind soul. They are beautiful to watch in ceremony.
This was one of the most affordable ayahuasca retreats in Ecuador I found, and, as a female traveling alone, I specifically sought a safe plant medicine retreat for women. Led by these two exceptional women, Paulina and Sandra, I found exactly that. This retreat center, with its breathtakingly beautiful locations and nourishing, delicious food, was transformative. This is definitely an LGBTQ+ friendly retreat center, by the way! Thank you, thank you.

December 9, 2023 at 7:38 pmI participated in a 5 day Ayahuasca retreat at Alma Healing. My experience was beautiful and nourishing. The accommodations were comfortable and the connection to nature felt in the ruggedly lush cloud forest near Mindo was unmatched. Of the many ayahuasca ceremonies I have participated in I have never experienced one guided so lovingly and consciously. Paulina has a magic in creating an atmosphere of warmth and safety in ceremony that allowed me to deeply connect with the medicine. There are many places you can drink ayahuasca and have a great experience but this is the place I will be recommending to my family and friends.

November 22, 2023 at 9:42 amI had my first Ayahuasca experience at Alma Healing Center. It was a 5 day retreat, with two ceremonies.
During the first ceremony, I did not really feel the medicine. This did not dissapoint me, because I learn a lot from this very beautiful experience anyways. The same happened during the second ceremony. After discussing with the organizers, I was given one final dose of the medicine. Then, finally it worked for me too.
I recommend Alma Healing Center because I was taken care of throughout the retreat, the energy was good, the food, the music and the experience as a whole gave me a lot! I am in no doubt that I would do this again.
