Our Program
At Arkana, we create the space for you to get in touch with your truth, opening your path for deeper meaning and greater fulfillment in your life. We work with ancestral medicines such as Ayahuasca, San Pedro, Bufo Alvarius, Rapé , using the traditional practices of the indigenous cultures of the Peruvian Amazon. We currently operate two centers in Peru, one in the Peruvian Amazon and a second one in the Sacred Valley (close to Machu Picchu), and one in Mexico, the choice is yours.
With great respect for the plants and the knowledge and healing that comes with them, our lineage of Shipibo shamans set the stage for truly deep and profound healing. Awaken your inner power through their sacred and powerful icaros (healing songs), and discover your connection to all things by exploring some of the 2.2 million hectare Pacaya Samiria National Reserve which is our backyard. Nourish your body and soul with fresh, clean, delicious meals that promote your Ayahuasca experience, and integrate healthy habits into your routine with our yoga classes and extensive selection of gym equipment for all levels. We believe the health of physical body sets the foundation for the health of the energetic body – Often ignored in this type of spiritual work, we find this to be an important part of the healing process, so you can begin implementing the healthy habits that will carry this work with you into your life back home. Finally, relax your mind and spirit with sound baths, meditations, breathwave sessions, and OM circles, or simply enjoy the tranquil views of both sunrise and sunset from our front porch on the banks of the Ucayali River, surrounded by lush biodiversity and the mesmerizing sounds of the jungle.
Arkana’s exceptional team of highly-trained Shipibo Master Shamans represent an unbroken lineage of plant medicine work. With a combined history of over 70 years of experience working closely with Ayahuasca and other master plant teachers of the jungle, our compassionate healers lovingly share their teachings, healing songs (icaros), capabilities, and knowledge with integrity and honor. We strive to maintain the traditional practices passed down through thousands of years of indigenous Amazonian culture, in order to continue to promote the true purpose and nature of plant medicine work.
Experiencing the medicines with us is a transformative personal journey, and so much more. We also work closely with our local community, the Amazonian village of Libertad, to ensure that our Center can benefit and give back to the people who have so generously let us into their homes and hearts. We create employment opportunities, teach free English classes, provide a space for the ladies to sell their handmade crafts, and assist in construction projects, among other things. Our latest endeavor is outfitting the entire village with free solar panels, so every house can have light and electricity. When you join us, you are helping the rainforest and the Amazon communities that live here.
Guests that come to our Center often say they feel like “part of the family” with us – that’s no coincidence, as we are one big family at Arkana! The people that are with you throughout your experience can simply facilitate your own healing journey or become an integral part of it. Our experienced, loving, and professional team of caregivers welcomes you to join our tribe, where we strive to make you feel at home and at ease, supported and cared for with all the love and compassion that is at the core of the plant medicines and people we work with.
Ayahuasca is a powerful medicine that offers us the opportunity to understand our true nature, by shining a light onto our darkness, and holding a mirror up to our fears, negative thought patterns, and self-limiting beliefs. We provide the environment and expertise of a team of highly skilled, warm, compassionate Shamans and facilitators to guide you through the process of awakening, of choosing differently, healing, and expanding. It is a slow but steady path towards freedom – from fear, from illusion, from self-constructed boundaries – resulting in a lighter, brighter, more authentic self, and the full experience of love. It is our honor to help you on this most fulfilling of all journeys: the journey back home.
We look forward to having you with us!
Lots of Love,
The Team

April 15, 2019 at 6:25 pmI spent a week at Arkana for a medicinal Ayahuasca retreat. It changed my life. The medicine is very powerful and rebooted my body. I was suffering from debilitating migraines and stomach problems so sever I had a hard time eating solid foods. Arkana was so safe and knowledgeable. We had amazing facilitators and Shamans. I felt so cared for while I was there. I absolutely recommend Arkana for anyone looking to try this medicine. They are the real deal! My biggest concerns round this adventure were safety. Will I be safe? Will the food and medicine they give me be safe? Will they help me while I am in ceremony?? Yes. Yes. Yes. and more Yes. The team is great and they do a phone call with you before you go so you can address any concerns and get a good idea of what to expect. If Aya is calling, go to Arkana.

April 15, 2019 at 5:13 pmMy wife and I, time and time again, have reflected on our most recent journey into the jungle as the single greatest gift that we’ve given ourselves and each other. If you hear the call to explore your spirituality, and Ayahuasca happens to be the instrument that compels you, we both advocate for a journey into the Peruvian Amazon to find Arkana. The staff were all available, professional, accommodating, and understanding. Most importantly, reintegration was crucial to what we experienced and took away. At Arkana, you’re in good hands. Journey well!

April 15, 2019 at 4:27 pmI visited Arkana for two weeks in the Amazonian jungle in February 2018 and could not have been more pleased with my experience.
The food was not only healthy, it tasted phenomenal. The location was peaceful and allowed for a lot of time for self-reflection since internet is almost nonexistent. Some people may not like this aspect, but I think it was vital for my healing process.
The classes on meditation, yoga, and transformational breath work were a fantastic added bonus. Extracurricular activities involved animals and nature which were the perfect break when processing and re-living trauma.
I really can’t say enough great things about the facilitators. They always knew the right advice to give me, and you could tell they genuinely cared about helping others. The shamans were incredible people who decided from an early age to dedicate their lives to serving others and continuing the Shipibo and other ancient traditions. This wisdom is essential for humankind and is quickly being lost in our modern world.
I loved having a group of people to experience ayahuasca together. The group shares each morning after ceremony were sometimes difficult, but I realized they provided me with the most benefit. There is something really powerful about opening up and being vulnerable with others which I had never really done before. Going through a challenging experience like ayahuasca together quickly turns strangers into friends. You’re left feeling like you have a small family all over the world after your time at Arkana.
I cannot recommend this retreat enough! If you feel drawn to the center, just go. It will change your life in miraculous ways you can’t imagine.

April 15, 2019 at 2:02 pmMy boyfriend and I went on a 14-day Ayahuasca retreat to Arkana. We spent one week in Sacred Valley and one week in the Amazon. Both centres had such a welcoming and relaxing atmosphere. Reflecting back on our journey, we are so glad that we decided to go to Arkana Spiritual Center to experience Ayahuasca for the first time.
I have broken down my experience into different categories!
FOOD:
The food was simple, delicious and had vegan options which was amazing! They also accommodated for people who had allergies. I personally loved how you were able to grab tea and exotic fruits all day long.
ATMOSPHERE
I liked how none of the activities were not mandatory. There was some excisions that I did not want to do because I wanted to have more time to reflect on my ceremony from the night before. After experiencing rapé for the first time, I did not enjoy it. When they offered it again throughout the retreat there was no pressure for me to do it again. I really enjoyed how we had a lot of free time to walk around the centre and explore. I LOVED the daily excisions and activities which included yoga every morning, a mountain hike to the salt mine, Machu Picchu, San Pedro ceremony, sound healing, feeding wild monkey’s and so much more!
SHAMANS, WORKERS AND FACILITATORS:
The shamans, workers and facilitators all truly love what they do. You can see how much they truly love and care for each person who comes to Arkana centre. At Sacred Valley we had two shamans, Isabella and Roberto. They really helped guide me through my tough ceremonies. They both are such amazing people and sang beautiful and VERY powerful Icaros. The facilitators did such an awesome job helping the shamans during the ceremonies and were all very committed to helping everyone on their healing journey.
OVERALL:
For those reading and considering going to Arkana, I want you to know that if you decide to go to Arkana, it will be such a safe place to experience Ayahausca, a place where the intention is to help people in a positive way while enjoying everything else that the retreat has to offer. Arkana is by far such an amazing centre, which is why my boyfriend and I are considering on going back for a second time.
