Arkana Spiritual Center

Iquitos and Urubamba in Peru

Our Program
At Arkana, we create the space for you to get in touch with your truth, opening your path for deeper meaning and greater fulfillment in your life. We work with ancestral medicines such as Ayahuasca, San Pedro, Bufo Alvarius, Rapé , using the traditional practices of the indigenous cultures of the Peruvian Amazon. We currently operate two centers in Peru, one in the Peruvian Amazon and a second one in the Sacred Valley (close to Machu Picchu), and one in Mexico, the choice is yours.

With great respect for the plants and the knowledge and healing that comes with them, our lineage of Shipibo shamans set the stage for truly deep and profound healing. Awaken your inner power through their sacred and powerful icaros (healing songs), and discover your connection to all things by exploring some of the 2.2 million hectare Pacaya Samiria National Reserve which is our backyard. Nourish your body and soul with fresh, clean, delicious meals that promote your Ayahuasca experience, and integrate healthy habits into your routine with our yoga classes and extensive selection of gym equipment for all levels. We believe the health of physical body sets the foundation for the health of the energetic body – Often ignored in this type of spiritual work, we find this to be an important part of the healing process, so you can begin implementing the healthy habits that will carry this work with you into your life back home. Finally, relax your mind and spirit with sound baths, meditations, breathwave sessions, and OM circles, or simply enjoy the tranquil views of both sunrise and sunset from our front porch on the banks of the Ucayali River, surrounded by lush biodiversity and the mesmerizing sounds of the jungle.

Arkana’s exceptional team of highly-trained Shipibo Master Shamans represent an unbroken lineage of plant medicine work. With a combined history of over 70 years of experience working closely with Ayahuasca and other master plant teachers of the jungle, our compassionate healers lovingly share their teachings, healing songs (icaros), capabilities, and knowledge with integrity and honor. We strive to maintain the traditional practices passed down through thousands of years of indigenous Amazonian culture, in order to continue to promote the true purpose and nature of plant medicine work.

Experiencing the medicines with us is a transformative personal journey, and so much more. We also work closely with our local community, the Amazonian village of Libertad, to ensure that our Center can benefit and give back to the people who have so generously let us into their homes and hearts. We create employment opportunities, teach free English classes, provide a space for the ladies to sell their handmade crafts, and assist in construction projects, among other things. Our latest endeavor is outfitting the entire village with free solar panels, so every house can have light and electricity. When you join us, you are helping the rainforest and the Amazon communities that live here.

Guests that come to our Center often say they feel like “part of the family” with us – that’s no coincidence, as we are one big family at Arkana! The people that are with you throughout your experience can simply facilitate your own healing journey or become an integral part of it. Our experienced, loving, and professional team of caregivers welcomes you to join our tribe, where we strive to make you feel at home and at ease, supported and cared for with all the love and compassion that is at the core of the plant medicines and people we work with.

Ayahuasca is a powerful medicine that offers us the opportunity to understand our true nature, by shining a light onto our darkness, and holding a mirror up to our fears, negative thought patterns, and self-limiting beliefs. We provide the environment and expertise of a team of highly skilled, warm, compassionate Shamans and facilitators to guide you through the process of awakening, of choosing differently, healing, and expanding. It is a slow but steady path towards freedom – from fear, from illusion, from self-constructed boundaries – resulting in a lighter, brighter, more authentic self, and the full experience of love. It is our honor to help you on this most fulfilling of all journeys: the journey back home.

We look forward to having you with us!

Lots of Love,
The Team

I recently returned from the Arkana Spiritual Center in the heart of the Amazon, and words cannot express the profound gratitude I feel for this life-changing experience. From the moment I arrived, I knew I was in the hands of truly incredible shamans who guided me through a series of transformative ceremonies. The connection and trust I developed with them was beyond anything I could have imagined.

One of the most enchanting aspects of the ceremonies were the mesmerizing ikaros. The shamans’ melodic chants and sacred songs transported me to another realm, intertwining beautifully with the ayahuasca journey. Additionally, receiving a personal Arkana, a unique song sent to each participant, was a deeply moving and cherished gift. The resonance and power of these ikaros will always stay with me.

The facilitators at Arkana were a beacon of love, support, and understanding throughout the entire process. Their unwavering dedication to ensuring each participant had a profound experience was evident in every interaction. Not only did they guide us through the ceremonies, but they also encouraged us to integrate the lessons and insights gained into our daily lives. The genuine care and commitment of the facilitators were instrumental in making this retreat an exceptional and transformative experience.

The retreat was not solely centered around the ceremonies; we were also treated to incredible excursions that showcased the natural beauty of the Amazon. These adventures were filled with camaraderie, joy, and a sense of wonder that further enhanced the overall experience. Whether it was exploring lush rainforest trails, encountering exotic wildlife, or immersing ourselves in the local culture, every day was filled with new and exciting discoveries.

The accommodations and facilities provided by Arkana were truly exceptional. The retreat center seamlessly blended comfort with a deep respect for the surrounding environment. The serene and peaceful atmosphere created the ideal space for introspection and healing. The nourishing and delicious meals served throughout the retreat were thoughtfully prepared, catered to our Ayahuasca dietary needs and fueling our bodies for the transformative work at hand.

One of the most remarkable aspects of the Arkana retreat was the sense of community that developed among the participants. Although we arrived as individuals, we quickly formed deep connections and lifelong friendships. The shared journey, vulnerability, and support fostered an environment of unity and understanding. Even after leaving the retreat, I have no doubt that these newfound connections will endure.

To the entire Arkana team, I extend my deepest gratitude. Your commitment to providing a safe, professional, friendly, and experienced retreat is commendable. The profound impact you had on my life is immeasurable, and I will forever hold this experience close to my heart. I eagerly anticipate the day I can return to Arkana, and I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone seeking an authentic and transformative Ayahuasca retreat.

Thank you, Arkana, for everything. You truly are the best.

People say that you don’t find Ayahuasca, it finds you.
The teacher appears when the student is ready for the lesson, so it is with Ayahuasca.
It will come to you when the time is right.
It may seem to you like you made your way to Ayahuasca by yourself,
but at the ceremony you will understand what I mean…

This was my first experience with Ayahuasca, and I experienced the most unexpected, unimaginable healing.

I can’t think of a better setting for the most profound experiences of my life, than the beautiful Maloka with the beautiful souls (the Shamans, including the owner Jose, the facilitators and your fellow-group of participants) in the middle of the Peruvian Amazon Jungle.

The food was amazing, the Center was clean and I felt absolutely safe, so I could completely surrender to the experience.

This retreat gave me so many beautiful gifts. It was the most profound experiences of my life, and it gave me a new way of understanding my place in the universe.

Thank you Jose! Thank you Arkana!

I have been to Arkana twice now. My 1st trip was to the Scared Valley in 2021 and I just returned from the jungle. I am a middle-aged female and traveled solo. Both places are magical and if you go you will be safe, well taken care of and have profound experiences. For this review I will stick with my most recent experience at the Arkana jungle location. From the moment you step off the boat you feel a profound sense of love, acceptance and complete safety.

The facilities: The facilities are clean and beautiful. I have no idea how they keep the place so immaculate in the middle of a jungle! There is a beautiful pool, a gym, a dining room, a small “spa,” a library/lounge, several beautiful malocas for ceremonies, group sharing and other group events and of course the guest rooms. I splurged and stayed in the private suite which had it’s own bathroom. The room was beautiful and felt luxurious. It was heaven to wake up in a beautiful room on a comfortable bed surrounded by the sounds of the jungle. That said, I did not hear complaints from other folks that were staying in shared rooms, so if you can’t afford the suite, your experience will still be just as magical!

The food: So amazing! You just have to go an try it, I will leave it at that.

The medicine: The medicine is powerful and will give you what you need (not necessarily what you want). At Arkana the Shamans make the medicine there onsite and they have strict standards. They use the same batch during your complete stay so strength/potency is consistent from one night to the next, which I think is very helpful with the experience. Everything they do is with the intent of helping and healing.

The People: I cannot say enough about the team at Arkana jungle– The facilitators were top notch and available 24/7 during the stay. Billy, Luke, Caesar, Vint and Amani thank you for the love, guidance and constant reassurance! The Shamans were amazing, I have never felt so much power in one room. This team is amazing and what they put themselves through to heal others is nothing short of selfless. The staff-from the beautiful lady in the kitchen (sorry I can’t remember her name) who gave us all hugs as we left, the smiles of the two folks that cleaned my room, to the amazing crew that cleaned up the malocas after the ceremonies (not a fun job), to the tour guide (Falcon) who lead us on our expeditions, wherever I looked I was surrounded by love. I special thanks to Jose for building such a beautiful place and Shantanu for helping create such a beautiful energy! I am lucky you were both there during my time in the jungle.

A positive force for good: One thing I learned this trip, that I think sets Arkana apart is it’s desire to make every aspect of it’s existence a force for good. In addition to the healing the center is doing week after week with the many people who visit, the center does a lot more. Setting aside land to ensure sustainable sourcing of Ayahuasca, to caring for it’s neighboring village of Libertad, and much more (I can’t remember all the things they shared, but it seemed like everything has a larger purpose). Arkana is truly trying to make the world a better place with thoughtful intention driven action.

Overall, my experience at Arkana was beyond what I can put into words, so I will leave you with this…if you are reading this review, you are feeling the calling; Arkana will be a beautiful and safe space that will meet you where you are and help you become a better healthier, happier person.

What can I say about a place so magical? Well I’ll begin by thanking the wonderful staff, facilitators, and Jose. I traveled solo and was picked up from the airport and taken to the boat. From the beginning of arrival there was a warm welcoming with the sound of beautiful music to the greeting of a facilitator (Ceasar) who is magical within himself. This place was just amazing! The people were kind and welcoming. It’s a secluded paradise where your healing and transformation is truly supported and intentional. I always felt safe and secure. The food was so delicious! Going home I realized how spoiled we were ☺️The spaces to heal were beautiful, the grand Maloka is breath taking and the family of Shamans are humble powerful vessels of the medicine. The facilitators were heaven sent. Imani, Vince, Luke, Ceasar and Billy were all very compassionate and supportive to everyone who needed help. Jose is so grounded, purposeful and very knowledgeable of the work done there. He’s fully in his purpose and genuinely care about people and the community there. I am in awe and complete gratitude. This place has created a special home in my heart. RevAzana

I’ve been into spirituality, meditation and everything that goes along with it for over 15 years now. I’ve tried so so many different things, from other psychedelics, to breathwork, meditation, and everything in between.

It’s always been a dream of mine to visit the Amazon jungle, and I figured if I could do Aya down there, even better! And Arkana did NOT disappoint. Honestly it was everything I expected and so much more. I literally don’t even know how I’d change the experience to make it any better. For me it was literally perfect.

And of course, healing! I’d been suffering from heartburn for the better part of 20 years. Again, tried everything, and I mean everything, spending 5-figures trying to fix it over the past several years. I’d made a lot of progress but there was just something there that wouldn’t let it heal fully.

Turns out, I just needed some Ayahuasca :oP

I had several major releases during the experience and I’m now about 2.5 months out of the experience and my heartburn is still healed.

I could go on for pages & pages about how amazing it was, as I had probably at least a dozen more profound insights, releases, and changes that have stuck with me. I’ll never be able to look at life the same way.

Honestly if you’re thinking about going and maybe even if you’re a little nervous, good! That’s a good sign that you need it. I can’t recommend Arkana enough and if I do Aya again, I will 100000% go back to them without even a second thought.
