Rapé (Shamanic Snuff)
Let’s talk rapé! It’s a fairly recent discovery for us here at AyaAdvisors, and it’s SO cool!
For the record, it’s pronounced rah-pay or ha-pay, and it’s a shamanic snuff that induces powerful sensations in the mind and body, including mental clarity, calmness, and a connection to the universe.
This cool video explains in more detail:
It’s also worth mentioning that an unexpected bonus of using rapé before bed is dream recollection. For that alone, I’d gladly take rapé on a regular basis, and I do. And I’ve also started an audio dream journal so that I can start collecting bits and pieces of insights into my subconscious mind.
And let me tell you, I’ve discovered some very intense things ‘under the hood’ so far! This is totally a game-changer for me, and I think that it can be for you too.
So we’ve partnered with our friends over at Waking Herbs to bring you a selection of some of our favorite rapés so far (though I’m still exploring, and there are many different varieties out there).
You can check them out below, and if you decide to make a purchase for yourself, we’ll get a small referral bonus for sending you their direction, so you’ll be helping to support our efforts to make the world a better, safer place.
And as always, if you have any questions, we’ll be happy to help 🙂
Yawanawa Forca Rapé
Waking Herbs describes this as having “a strong initial kick with a strong but very kind and clear force.”
And they explain that it’s among one of their strongest ones, and one of their personal favorites.
It’s also said to be great for grounding and focus, with a very special blend of “the Little studied plant called samsara and ash of Tsunu tree bark.” Intriguing, no?
Finally, it’s worth adding that it was made for them by a Yawanawa Healer friend that has been working with these products and sacred plants.
Colombian rapé – B. Caapi
“Ancestral knowledge and communication with earth spirits. It opens doors of light and helps balance darkness.
This Colombian Caapi Rapé is made exclusively for us by a friend that has been working with plants and working with healers from many parts around South America.”
Katukina rapé | Passion flower
“This Katukina Passionflower rapé is great before going to sleep and for lucid dreaming.
It was made for us by a Katukina Healer, he has been working with Rapé and medicinal plants for a very long time.
Passionflower is said to be cooling to the body, calming to the mind, and soothing to the spirit. It quells anxiety and quiets the ruminating mind.
This plant is gentle yet profound.”

Nukini rapé – Chacruna & Mulateiro
“This Rapé is an energizing medicine for the body, uplifts the spirit and invigorates the mind.
The base is made from the ash of the Mulateiro or Capirona tree, which is used medicinally by various tribes in South America.
The ash is then mixed with the leaves of the Chacruna plant, which grows throughout the Amazon jungle and is typically added to the Banisteriopsis caapi vine when making the traditional healing brew known as Ayahuasca.
Most notably, Chacruna contains a high content of tryptamines, such as Dimethyltryptamine or DMT.”
Katukina rapé – Kambo
“This unique Katukina Kambo Rapé was exclusively made for us by a Katukina Healer who has been working with Rapé and medicinal plants for a very long time.
When our friend Milton went to the tribe for the second time the shaman surprised us by having made this Katukina Rapé Kambo specially for us. We are grateful and honored that we are allowed to share this sacred mix.
Kambo has been found to contain various peptides, which have been proven to strengthen the immune system. The peptide rich venom also has anti-inflammatory and anti-microbial properties that kills viruses and pathogens in the body.”
Five tribes rapé set – Exclusive selection
“From our exclusive range of rapés we have selected these five special rapés. We call it the Five Tribes Rapé Set, which includes rapés from the Huitoto, Kanamari, Katukina, Nukini, and Yawanawa tribes.
Some of these are one-off rarities that we only have in very small stock, and the others are our personal favorites. Selected with love, respect and only good intentions.
We feel blessed that we are allowed by shamans of so many tribes to share this sacred shamanic tool with you.”
Applicators
Don’t forget an applicator!
The small ones that are angled inward are designed to administer rapé to yourself, and are called kuripes. Whereas the larger ones that are angled outward are designed to administer rapé to another person, and are called tepis.
I have a personal preference for wood over metal because I feel like the rapé is disbursed in the nostril better when using wood, but that’s just me.
And I really like that some of these have designs that were hand-carved out of Tagua nuts. I’ve seen this done in-person before, and the intricate detailing is quite impressive.
