I drank here in the beginning and waited to post this because I didn’t want to diminish any healing that other people received. I’m incredibly happy for them. I also don’t want people to think it’s all rainbows. I’ve been asked to post this so here it is. I believe they are business first healing center second with that I decided it wasn’t the place for me after drinking there multiple times. The medicine is… was good but during my last retreat I attended the founder watered it down so he had enough which I thought that was super disrespect but these are just my beliefs and experiences. He said his supplier told him to but he didn’t do it until he realized he didn’t have enough for everyone, which sounded like hogwash to me. I realize everyone doesn’t view or respect the medicine the same way as I do. They also don’t have a curandero (English we say “shaman”) to guide ceremony and they do overcrowd like 20-25/30 people at a time with no true guidance or able to clear the space beside sage. If one does show up they usually don’t work with them for very long. The facilitators are nice and have good intentions but there also have been poor intentions there as well which have caused the two different entire staff to quit at once but new people join on that had good experiences. From my knowledge young women have been what I feel were taken advantage of and inappropriately treated in other subtle ways. People serving medicine shouldn’t mix with attendees in romantic ways as the guest have such a high status view of the server. I’m not saying people aren’t going to get healing there because I saw some beautiful things happen but I also saw some disgusting things happen that turned me completely off. Do your own research and see how it feels to you these are just my experiences from drinking there about 13 times looking for something that wasn’t there. It did get me to travel to Peru and have a life changing experience for this I am grateful it was a somewhat ugly stepping stone.
And to me it’s not about being hokey or not it’s doing one of the, if not the most powerful psychedelic which is traditionally always given with guidance until we learn to navigate the medicine ourselves. But again just my beliefs.
In the end, we follow our hearts to where it leads us.
I attended a weekend retreat here at soulquest. It was very unprofessional. No shaman, no live icaros, the one’s doing the ceremony do not even take the medicine. The first night me and my wife attended the ayahaucca ceremony. We knew it wasn’t right but discussed it and agreed we had already paid so decided to go forward. Chris the owner said he tries to give people an aya experience without all the dogma. Which is fine if you just want to party but I would not advise to disrespect mother ayahaucca in that manner. Without the proper guidance ayahaucca and other shamanic medicines can be very very dangerous. I’m not going to go into detail what happened to me during my stay but I was up for 5 nights and almost ended up in the hospital. Although Chris and the staff are very nice people and might have good intentions. This in not a drug and should not be played with. I’ve spent over a month in Ecuador with very skilled and respectful people to the medicines and participants. [Gaia sagrada ] and spent a small time with teachers from the shipibo tribe in Peru. This happened to me with experience, it can happen to anyone. Please, I advise to be very careful. Especially if this is your first time. Just because something is cheaper and more covenant, doesn’t mean it’s better. Do your research. Make sure the people know what they are doing so you leave with the healing and love you went there for. Aho
