Pura Medicina

Pura Medicina is located in the heart of the primal rainforest, a place where one can truly rejuvenate their spirit, where one can connect to the energy of the jungle and experience the gift of Ayahuasca in an authentic, safe and supportive environment.

Far away from the hustle and bustle of Iquitos, and 30 minutes outside of Jenaro Herrera, a tranquil Amazonian village, lies our beautiful jungle camp where we invite you to experience life transforming, profound and cleansing ceremonies with our Shamanic family – Maestro Gumercindo Galindo, his father Maestro Don Roldon Galindo and his mother Curandera Gertrudes Galindo and supported by the entire Galindo Family. Our Shamanic family has over 80 years of combined experience working with Ayahuasca and plant medicines.

Our facilitators offer yoga and meditation classes daily in addition to Reiki upon request and are truly present to work with you through love, light and laugher.

Our philosophy is our name: Pura Medicina, which focuses only on healing, cleansing and teaching through love and light.

Our mission is to provide transformative life changes, deep spiritual cleansing, healing and teachings through the beautiful plant teacher, Ayahuasca.

We believe Ayahuasca is a gift to humanity and are committed to sharing this wonderful offering to all at a reasonable cost.

I spent the most transformative week of my life at Pura Medicina. The family shared with me a sweet and forceful medicine that gives each person what she needs. That medicine is love. Maestro Gumercindo is a shaman of immense power, as are Mami and Papi. The whole family (and the dogs too!) welcomed me, taught me, and healed me. Mel has a true gift for the work of facilitiation she does there: she creates a space in which the medicine can work to its best advantage. Pura Medicina is the real deal. I found there what I was looking for, and it was so much more beautiful than I had dared to hope. Muchas gracias a todos.

Since my ayahuasca journey more than a year ago, I’ve visited three different ayahuasca healing centers around Iquitos, and after going to Pura Medica for the second time this year I can conclude that, as far as healing goes, this is the retreat to choose.

Maestro Gumercindo is without question the most powerful shaman I’ve met, and together with his family, they are strong and experienced enough to take care any situation that may arise during the ceremonies. I haveve the utmost respect and trust in them. I’ll definitely go back again!

I came to Pura Medicina when it was La Familia Medicina for my first Ayahuasca experience this past June, without knowing the retreat I attended would be the last for LFM, I decided to altar my travel plans and come back to volunteer for the remainder of my trip. It has been the best decision I?ve made throughout my time here in South America – I?ve had a chance to get to know La Familia Galindo, work with the medicine, and add my own experience and knowledge by bringing art therapy to the camp. If you are looking for a safe, reflective, and meaningful experience, come to Pura Medicina!
