Outer Travels Inner Journeys

Outer Travels Inner Journeys organise life changing shamanic retreats and adventures in Peru.

Our flagship tour that we’re most passionate about is our twice yearly Peru Odyssey Tour which lasts 23 days and includes a 7 day ayahuasca retreat at the Kapitari Center.

Why come to Peru?

Peru is a country like no other. It’s one of the most beautiful, diverse and mystical countries in the world, and being here really is like living in your very own spiritual adventure. If you desire to connect more deeply with Pachamama, see incredible locations that will take your breath away and learn about ancient spiritual wisdom that is needed in the world now more than ever, then Peru is where you need to be.

Peru is home to not just one, but several of the most mysterious and awe-inspiring places on the planet. A list that includes Machu Picchu, Saqsayhuaman, Ollantaytambo, plus many natural wonders such as Lake Titicaca, the Andes mountains and the amazing Amazon Rainforest. These are all places we’ll be visiting on the trip.

Our tours and retreats are open to anyone of any nationality who feels called to work with sacred plant medicines and deepen their spiritual connection.

This a sacred journey for people who are sincerely interested in empowering themselves and expanding their own consciousness. However, it is not a journey that takes itself too seriously.

We like to appeal to fun and down to earth spiritual people. This is not a ‘new age’ journey about crystals and unicorns for people so full of love and light that they deny their own shadow. And it certainly isn’t for people on dark egoic power-trips. Balance and integration is the name of the game.

At 23 days it is quite a long journey and we’ll all be spending a great deal of time together, so it’s important to maintain a certain amount of harmony within the group and attract the right people.

To date, all the people who have resonated and participated in our journeys have been truly amazing people and there have never been issues with disharmony in our groups and we hope for that to continue.

To ensure a more harmonious experience please only consider our spiritual journeys if:

– You are sincere and open-minded.
– You are seeking to deepen your spiritual understanding and expand your consciousness.
– You have a sense of humor and don’t take yourself too seriously
– You welcome challenges and being out of your comfort zone at times
– You easily get along with other people
– You feel young at heart, no matter what your physical age may be

Peru Pilgrimage – didn’t deliver on its promise of connecting with a large group of like minded spiritual people with only two of us on the tour. There were significant changes to the itinerary which we were not advised about beforehand nor consulted about during the tour. The tour is advertised as 9 days but there was no itinerary of activities on day 9. The San Pedro experience was disappointing. Neither the ‘Peruvian shaman’ nor environment ‘in nature’ advertised on the website transpired. For me these were essential components of the experience I was seeking. I found the demeanour of the tour organiser – who seemed disengaged and uninterested – highly challenging. Were it not for Miguel Bellota – the Peruvian mystical guide – who was excellent in every way, this trip would have been a complete and utter disappointment. Miguel was first class. His depth of knowledge, spiritual connection and wisdom are exceptional and I was impressed with and highly engaged in his tours. I came away feeling I’d highly benefited and grown as a result of his teachings. The visits to the ancient, sacred sites with Miguel were a wonderful experience. In summary, overall the tour was not as expected and didn’t deliver value for money in terms of the experience versus what was promised.

For those considering spending money and time with Andy Metcalfe please watch the attached youtube clip , if you’re too busy to watch the whole thing then skip thru to 19:00 mins and watch the shaman and Metcalfe blame each other for when things go badly wrong. That badly wrong in this case is my son dying on a tour that Metcalfe sold and his key comment is “sometimes shit happens” … that’s the attitude of the guy who wants your money….that plus he never even called us to tell us our boy was dead , even though he told the other retreat guests that he had when they were hassling him for a refund which he agreed then ultimately took 3 months to actually pay.

Be aware , Peru is a beautiful place , not all the people selling the place are that beautiful sadly.

    From a sad Dad.

    Theres plenty of

Admin Note: Stuart later added “Most importantly we are NOT anti Aya at all, just anti people not giving a shit…”

An all round wonderful experience!!! I did both the Peru Pilgrimage and the Ayahuasca retreat. The Peru tour was excellent!! Saw all that was described and more! Andy did a wonderful job of showing us the sights and informing us of the culture, the people and the towns, certain hot-spots, as well as letting us roam the streets. I met some fantastic people, made friends with all and was left with fond memories. Cusco and Machu Picchu are magical!!
Set in the wonderful Amazon bush area of Iquitos, the Ayahuasca retreat was a bit of an eye opener! By removing distractions such as phones, television, internet, and living on a very basic diet and a rustic, basic natural environment this was a real chance at understanding oneself! I entered this not knowing really what Ayahuasca was about, however felt safe and secure at all times, and there was no pressure.
Thank you to Andy, Jungle Jenny and Don Lucho for this great experience!

I highly recommend this tour. It was fun, educational, and a spiritual awaking. I felt very taken care of by our group leader, Joey. I tend to worry about the details, but I soon discovered I didn’t have to worry. All the connections, transportation, hotels, access to sites, and food was all well organized and outstanding quality.

One day of the tour was a San Pedro (Wachuma) ceremony. This took place in a serine setting (by a river looking up at an ancient Inca site). Joey provided a safe space, and performed heart-felt ritual singing. It was a life-altering experience.

I’ve never been big on group tours. I’ve seen a lot of the world by “Let’s Go” guidebooks. I’m so glad I did this tour. It made it more than a fun vacation (although it was a lot of fun); it was a profound spiritual journey.

I’m very suprised to see that there have not been more reviews for this retreat. Last September, me my girlfriend & my friend flew from the uk to take part in the peru pilgrimage tour as we wanted to see the mountains of peru & Machu Picchu aswell as take a trip to the jungle & experience Ayahuasca ( which had been calling me for about a year! ).
Instantly when we arrived we were breathtaken from the views & maybe a little light headed from the altitude but nothing some coca tea didn’t sort out!
Our tour guide was very helpful in answering any questions and concerns we had , we met another man who also took part in the tour so it was a fairly small group of 4.
The hotels were beautiful and each hotel got better and better the nearer we arrived to machu picchu. I have to say my favourite part of the trip was to the pisac ruins, we took a taxi to the top then walked down back into the small town of pisac which the san pedro ceremony was done the next day. The location of the ceremony was beautiful & i felt very at ease the whole time.
We then arrived at iquitos to visit Kapitari, Andy met us at the airport & arranged our transport to the city, i was very feverish and was sick during the first night so was unable to even leave the hotel, Andy was very helpful and brought some kind of potion to put over me which really helpped, the next day i was able to travel to Kapitari.
I had no idea how incapacitated Ayahuasca would make me as it was my first time & thank god i was at this center because the facilitators really put me at ease and provided a safe space. Don Lucho was a huge help during the ceremonies and his presence felt very paternal.
All 3 of us loved this tour & me and my giirlfriend are 100% returning, probably next year.
The only real concern we had was regarding payment as paypal stopped dealing due to the fact it is regarding ayahuasca as drug taking so we had to use switch transfers which we were a bit hesitant however we had no problems regarding any payments, bookings or traveling, these were all taken care of.
My only regret is i did not do the oddassy tour as i didn’t have the time ( maybe next year! ),
If you want a friendly, cheap, helpful & safe way to experience Peru & Ayahuasca, then i highly recomend this retreat, check out youtube for Kapirati videos if you have any concerns or drop them an email. I can’t thank these guys enough, definately going back there.
