Mai Niti is our family run traditional Shipibo healing center based in our homeland; the Amazon region of Peru (Pucallpa). We’ve been working as Maestros for many generations, and have a profound depth of ancestral wisdom and knowledge with respect to the plants and healing.
Our aim is to awaken you to your true potential by expanding your consciousness and healing your mind, body and spirit.
Mai Niti in English means Clarity of the Earth. By living in symbiosis with mother earth, she gifts us with the clarity and insight needed to do the work that we do. It fills our hearts with joy to see the people who come here leave healed, happy and free, with a deeper connection to themselves and awareness of their true nature. At Mai Niti, we work with sacred plants in a way that opens one up to receive the knowledge and healing power the plants have to give. Among these sacred medicines we work with is ayahuasca.
At our core, compassion is what guides us and empowers us to do the work that we do. Our doors are always open to all who come in need of healing.
Leonardo has been working with the plants since the age of 12. Now, aged 85, he has over 70 years experience with plant medicine and ayahuasca.
After rigorous training from Leonardo, strict dietas, and many years in isolation, Lucilla has followed in her father’s footsteps to become a maestra.
When you step into Mai Niti healing center, you will be met with the love and compassion that are at the core of the curanderos work. You will quickly become part of the family, and the curanderos are truly here for you every step of the way in your healing journey.
Mai Niti healing center is owned and run entirely by the curanderos and their family. For this reason, they have the freedom to run the retreats in the way they feel is right, in order to bring the deepest level of healing and care to all who come.
This is also why they can offer retreats and long term stays to guests for such a low price. The curanderos feel that ones financial situation should never be a barrier to healing. For this reason it is important to them to keep the cost as low as possible for guests.
The curanderos and their family will be with you every step of the way to ensure that you have a truly trans-formative healing experience, and that you find what you are seeking. Living with them on their land is a truly eye opening experience in which you will not only have the opportunity to heal and grow, but to experience life in symbiosis with nature, the way the Shipibo do.
Ayahuasca and master plants can help to bring about a profound healing of ones body, mind and spirit as well as transformation of ones life, and awakening to ones true potential. These sacred medicines allow us to access deeper parts of our consciousness and psyche, and uncover and uproot the things that block us from living our true potential as healthy, happy and free beings.
These sacred plant medicines can be a powerful ally to you if you are seeking any of the following:
- To heal trauma and deep routed psychic wounds
- To release unconscious emotional, psychological and spiritual blockages
- To heal physical and mental diseases at their root
- To release deep rooted fears and doubts
- To align with ones soul purpose and calling in life
- To expand and awaken ones consciousness
- To heal ancestral and family karma
- To uncover ones innate healing abilities

Words can’t do justice to my experience at Mai Niti. From the first day I arrived at the center, I knew I was exactly where I was suppose to be. Soo much love it was unbelievable. Whatever your needs are it will be met. The people are amazing and the Shaman Is very powerful and knowledgeable. Highly recommended!!!
My husband and I spent 1 week here and we enjoyed every single moments of it. Such a lovely family and we learned so much in such a short time. We both see the world differently now, and there is definitely something changed inside of us. For example I stopped worrying about things and I feel so much calmness & peace inside of me that I can’t really express it. Unbelievable, and it’s such a gift for someone who was always stressed out about everything.
I hope we will be able to go back and learn more about life & reality
We love you all! ❤️
an ayabuasca center trully wanting to help you heal and expand! you’ll instantly feel at home and loved by this beautiful heart centered team. both Leonardo and Lucilla are amazing shaman that will guide you to your truth. my heart and self belief trully expanded under there guidance. so much love and gratitude to them, I look forward to returning
My experience at the center was life changing. I wish I could have stayed longer and plan to come back. I can’t even describe my experience but I can say that if you trust the medicine it will heal you, and Lucilla and Leonardo are key in this as well. Because of this short 5 day experience I have started a new path in my life and see the world completely differently, I could never thank them enough for sharing their knowledge and skills with me. It has been weeks since my stay and I still feel like a changed person. Fear, pain, pathology, illness and trauma, that was buried so deep inside me was pulled out, I am so grateful for all the preparation I did and highly recommend anyone coming take it seriously, the more you prepare the more rewarding your experience will be. I did an Iching reading before my first ceremony and it lead me to a specific meditation about centering myself and letting go of the past and present distractions, it also lead me to ask for help from the helping spirits which seemed like the exact guidance I needed in retrospect since I did not know what to expect during the ceremony. I followed the meditation and worked to cut the ties to my ego, past trauma, and negative thoughts, at the first ceremony I could feel those things being pulled out of me and I know they came out because I had prepared myself and my body did not fight it, it was amazing how Lucilla and Leonordo helped me through the process and there ability to control energy and heal is mind-blowing. After the ceremony I not only felt the mental changes I could also feel and even see them physically. They changed my constitution, it is miraculous. A darkness inside my heart I did not know was there is now gone and I feel lighter than a feather. I am forever grateful and cannot wait to see what is next on my journey now that I see the potential I have to heal.
Wow, so much love for everyone at Mai Niti ❤️. It was such an incredible experience spending a month with Lucilla and her amazing family. They treated me with so much love while I going through my journey. The plant medicine gave me so much more than I could have ever imagined it could. Things I didn’t know could happen, unfolded right there in front of me and changed so much about my beliefs. It was humbling to see how little I understood and am sure I still don’t understand about reality. Truly life changing experiences all around. I can’t wait to spend more time with this amazing family again in the future to continue on the path of healing and personal growth.
Mai Niti holds a beautiful healing space to experience Ayahuasca and all of her sacred transformative healing powers. Everyone in the center makes the process so pleasant and enjoyable. Lucilla and Leonardo are incredibly compassionate, understanding and respectful healers that know exactly what each person needs in order to help them get the most out of there experience here. My journey here has been one of the most challenging, raw and life changing I’ve had thus far. This entire environment the location, the people, the healers and the plant medicine all brought everything together beautifully. All I can say is Thank you for this amazing ride because now I feel ready to move forward with a fresh new perspective. Thank you Thank you thank you!
I arrived in Mai Niti as a volunteer, planning to stay not more than 3 weeks, helping out with some tasks at the center. But as soon as I arrived I realized it was such a special place and I felt like I needed to stay longer.
The people there were so welcoming to me, the place is cozy and everything is set in a way so that everybody always stay together. I feel we were a family.
Lucila, the shaman, is always attentive to the guests and spreading her care and high energy around. She is usually up to hear everybody’s opinions about the events, the ceremony, the place, looking for improvements and mainly, checking how we all are feeling during the day.
Finally, what I can say it impressed me most was definitely the energy of this place. It has some kind of mystery, which is really hard for me to explain, but I simply felt like there I was facing my truth and fears, there was no way out other than looking inside me.
Thanks loads to Lucy, who received me openly and helped me in the way I needed, and also, to all of the guests, volunteers and workers I met there. All of them were undoubtedly unique in my experience and so grateful for it! Thank you!
I arrived at the center as a volunteer and the plan was to stay 2 weeks but on the second day I decided that I would stay a month. Actually I was three months and I consider that it has been the most important time and of major transformation that I have had in the whole trip so far. The experience goes beyond plants. Everything that happened in the center was important to my own healing process. the food, the way they live there, the wisdom and charisma that Lucilla and her father Leonardo have, the people with whom I shared, was all part of the process of self-knowledge and liberation that I could live there! always very grateful and hoping to return at some point, I consider them almost a family for me
Mai Niti was the perfect introduction to plant healing and ayahuasca. The whole environment was incredibly nurturing and authentic. Everything was done with the utmost respect and understanding for the process, with so many years of tradition and training behind the maestras.. Lucy is with you every step of the way and goes above and beyond to ensure you’re healing as totally and well as possible. The whole experience was a beautiful one and I am so glad I chose to do it here.
This was the perfect center for my girlfriend and I. It’s an authentic experience with real Shaman that have created a safe and comfortable environment.
I went to the healing center for the 12 day retreat, finding out about it from a friend who had recommended it to me. I was searching for a Ayahuasca center that was still authentic, as it is very difficult to find one in Peru that is not based off money and tourism. I can truely say, Mai Niti was everything I could have hoped for, and more. If you are looking for a fully authentic, affordable, and personable retreat, look no further. Lucia, Leonardo, their family, and their friends, take you in like you are part of the family instantly. This place becomes your home, and you make friends that you will never forget here. Aside from the Ayahuasca ceremonies, they teach you about some of the thousands of other medicinal plants used for healing, and teach you the ways of their culture. The Shipibo tribe is one of the pioneers of the Ayahuasca healing tradition and Shamanism, and Leonardo is possibly one of the most experienced Shamans in Peru. You learn about the people and their culture, you learn about the plant knowledge passed through the generations, and most importantly you learn about yourself. If you feel the call, Mai Niti will answer and you will come out a different person!
Mai Niti is an incredible place with great energy! As soon as you get there you can feel it, because the energy itself, but also because of how well you are recieved and welcomed by everybody in the place. Quickly you feel among friends and family.
I’ve done ayausca before, but my experience in mai niti was different and much better. I guess because I felt very supported and safe there and I knew I was being taken care of all the time, so the ceremonies are much more beautiful when you dont get into it with fear or insecurity.
A nice thing is that each person has time with the shaman Lucilla, and also an introductory ceremony, so the she can see people’s needs and provide personal treatment and attention.
I had a great time there and would definitely recommend it.
