The Ayahuasca Foundation was started in 2008 and is dedicated to the preservation and continuation of the ancient science of plant spirit medicine. We work with one Shipibo family of curanderos in a unique and pure style centered around the use of ayahuasca and the sacred tree, Noya Rao.

We offer dietas with Noya Rao and/or Bobinsana during our courses and our treatments include over a dozen other plant remedies and daily healing work. We also include integrative practices like yoga, meditation, epigenetics, breathwork, massage, ayurveda, hypnosis, sound healing, channeling, and counseling.

It is our mission to guard the sacred tree of spiritual knowledge that has grown in the Amazon Rainforest for millenia, and replant the seeds of spiritual awareness so that new trees of forgotten wisdom will again grow throughout the world. Visit our website for more information. Thanks!

Safe, beautiful and full of love. The perfect place and way to experience this powerful medicine.

Carlos and the team at the Ayahuasca Foundation provide the most incredible experience, one that we will cherish forever.

My partner and I did the 8 day rejuvenation retreat, and it was fantastic right from the start.

The initial organisation and information we received was incredibly detailed and helped us prepare for the experience completely. Carlos and the team were ever present to answer any questions or concerns we had, and had everything so well arranged and coordinated that it all flowed smoothly.

The accommodation at either end of the trip is comfortable and a nice place to stop over before heading to Riosbo. The lodge we stayed at in the jungle was beautiful, it is incredibly well maintained, everything feels new. The lodge is in a fantastic location on the river (that you can swim in), with the jungle behind it, it was perfect, The rooms are all spacious, clean and the facilities excellent. We didn’t really see many mosquitos at all, but there were nets in great condition on all windows that kept them out regardless.

We did yoga a couple of times and several other healing therapies, including steam baths, sangre de grada and daily medicines. Between ceremonies and healing we got plenty of time to integrate, relax in a hammock and read or sleep, it was so peaceful.

Nick and Mike were our two facilitators, and they are two of the most amazing people I’ve ever met, with incredibly beautiful souls and the patience of saints. They took careful time explaining everything in detail and answered any questions we had completely. It made us feel very safe, knowing that we had two very experienced people who also spoke fluent english in case we were struggling, and who had super grounded, positive energy.

The ayahuasca itself was pure and strong, it was beautiful medicine. Don Miguel is a talented shaman, his singing is like nothing I have ever heard, full of tenderness, incredible power and it spoke to my soul. He has an awesome relationship with the plant, and he shares that power with you, he really shares something beautiful in ceremony, it was a privilege to drink with him. In the day he is smiling and laughing, but when ceremony begins, he shows a power and a connection that blew my mind (literally), it was awesome.

The two Peruvian gentlemen who help during ceremony and during the day, Pancho and Hernan, were a blessing. They prepared the Maloka and us before ceremony, and supported us when we were struggling, and helped us to the bathroom when we were wobbly on our feet. They were amazing, a huge thank you to both of them! They both also sang beautifully towards the end of ceremony, I am glad that I got to share those moments with them.

Nick and Mike shared the burden of singing during ceremony with Don Miguel, they both sang incredibly well, their Icaros were beautiful and made the experience as amazing as it was. Mike sang beautifully, for hours if needed, transporting me to other worlds. Nick is an incredibly talented musician, who played the guitar and other instruments with amazing skill. These two guys did the most fantastic job, and I couldn’t feel a deeper gratitude towards them.

Overall, the rejuvenation retreat was the most deeply beautiful, love filled experience I have ever had. It was wonderful, and I have been recommending it to people ever since I left a few weeks ago.

If you are looking for a safe, wonderful place to drink the medicine, then I would recommend, without hesitation, the Ayahuasca foundation, Riosbo, every single time.

Thank you so much, to Carlos, Don Miguel, Nick, Mike, Pancho and Hernan, you provided the perfect place to have a deep experience, and I am forever richer for it.

I would like to share my experience during the three weeks January 2019 retreat at The Ayahuasca Foundation in Peru. Don Ronan was our Shaman during the January 2019 retreat. I liked Don Ronan when I met him.

Both my Fiancé and I did not have a positive experience at the retreat.

These are the reasons…please understand that I am not wanting to blame nor judge, I just feel a responsibility to share the facts. The intention for this review is to encourage future participants to do they research and homework in order to be better informed and prepared. Always remember you are the one who has authority over your feelings, needs and experience. Trust your intuition to guide you to what is best for you!

The actual medicine (Aya) was intensely nauseating and produced lots (too much) vomiting and feelings of being ill (cold sweats, head aches and an overall feeling of being very sick.) The nausea persisted throughout the whole retreat. Every participant talked to the Facilitators/students and eventually they talked to Maestro/Don Ronan, who promised a different brew, but the nausea and continuous vomiting persisted the entire time.

    2. During the initial Consulto, Don Ronan asked me to stop taking all my medications as he was going to give me plant medicines he would prepare for me. After two weeks of trying the plant medicine I noticed a decline in my physical health and well being, the plant medicines did NOT work!
Not to mention, that Don Ronan was very inconsistent with dispensing the medications. He would prescribe something, give it to me once, tell me he would repeat it the next day, but never did.

    3. Also, we were not told that the retreat/Ceremonies would be conducted mostly by facilitators/students/ apprentices. Although the Facilitators/Students are good students, intelligent, prepared in the Shipibo Tradition of plant medicine and have good intentions, they are still students, lacking years of experience/wisdom/deep knowledge/sight, that only a Shaman possesses.

    4. The purging plants and other plant medicine experiences were extreme and there was no consideration as to the health, age and constitution of some of the participants. Some of the practices may be fine for a 20/30 year old, but too much for a 50/60 year old. My Fiancé experienced 4 consecutive days of vomiting and diarrhea, I became very concerned.

    5. We experienced no container for the process of healing. It felt we were at a bootcamp, instead of a spiritual/healing retreat. There was no quite space/time to rest/reflect/recover/integrate. There was no therapeutic container to process what the physical healing with the plants was producing to each individual, emotionally and psychologically.

    6. During the three weeks, some of us, especially me, experienced nightmares every night. Plus, I had two psychic attacks, one on the same night that Don Ronan was attacked by Brujerìa and the second one during sleep in our cabin. No one prepared me/us for this possibility.

Written with a positive intention for All concerned!

I’m sorry to hear that you did not have a positive experience. I was surprised to read this review, as your posts on your facebook page were very positive. As you remember, this retreat included a research evaluation for research funded by the NHS. The results of this retreat, including for your fiancé, showed remarkable improvement. You chose not to participate in the study.

We value your feedback and always strive to provide the highest level of care possible. We feel confident that we will offer healing opportunities run with integrity, compassion, and care. I wish you infinite blessings all the way.

I don’t know if there is words to describe my gratitude to the foundation and to Ayahuasca and the other plant medicines. To all the people working with and for me when I was at my two weeks retreat. It was just awesome!
I went there hoping to heal from my addiction, but I just got so much more.
All the time I had trust in the medicine and the people working with it. I mentally and physically embraced all that I was given from the medicines. And the results of that is that I have been realest from my suffering with childhood traumas and other emotional pain that I had been carrying inside me throughout all my life. And also different kinds of physical pains are gone.

I am so happy to have found the Ayahuasca Foundation. I attended the 8 day retreat and found everything promised to be delivered and beyond. Many other retreats don’t seem to take the care and attention to detail that AF does. AF is there for you from the moment you step off the plane to the moment you’re going back to the airport. I take that back, they’re there for you before you even leave for your trip and will be there for you long after you’ve returned home as well. Carlos has set up an absolutely wonderful center full of incredible people and thought of everything. From pre and post private counseling sessions, to groups set up so that you can continue to communicate with your fellow retreat attendees. The Mishana community is nothing but kind, generous people full of love. The curanderos, facilitators and assistants are caring, patient, amazing human beings and the facility itself is beautiful. Cannot recommend highly enough!

As this was my very first retreat, I was not sure of what to expect. However I can confidently say I would recommend the Ayahuasca Foundation to anyone looking for a place for their first retreat, or even subsequent retreats. It is in a truly special place and the facilitators and director himself are extremely helpful, kind, and understanding. The location, The Riosbo Research Center, is located on a swimming friendly river, outside of Iquitos about two hours in a remote location. The rooms are spacious, have hot water, and are quiet and peaceful all times of the day (and cleaned regularly with laundry service too). The food was simple and delicious. A great selection of books were available to enjoy while lounging in one of the many hammocks looking out over the river.
The facilitators and shaman were awesome and really made the retreat an extra special experience. Always willing to listen and providing knowledgeable perspectives and advice on a variety of subjects. They are also very down to earth and you could tell they truly do enjoy what they are doing and care about the effects of their work. It was also great to meet the director personally. These sort of personal touches accentuate the amount of care that goes into everything undertaken at the foundation.
The place feels authentic and enriching. The brew is simple without any other added ingredients, and the other healing remedies left me feeling like a whole new person.
I can honestly say this was one of the best experiences I have done for myself in my life, thanks to the people and special place at the Ayahuasca Foundation. Highly recommended.

I attended the 8 week curandero program at Inkan Kena that completed in September 2018. The course was very challenging but rewarding beyond words. The amount of time and effort that has gone in to the content is incredible. Dean the lead facilitator was incredible, wise, patient and respected as a brother by the Shipibo family (what a privilege to see). Carlos has put to much thought into the program. It’s natural to question ones own decision making when in the jungle for an extended period of time, but that’s often the ego resisting the learning that comes from surrendering to the new environment and learning. Amazing experience. Super grateful for Don Enriques willingness to share the wisdom of his lineage with us gringos.

I attended the 2 week course, in august 2018, at the Chamusal retreat center with Don Ronor, facilitators; Mike, Nick and Arith.
From the moment I made the choice to attend, Carlos Tanner, the founder of The Ayauaschca Foundation, responded and readily answered questions and concerns. His knowledge of the healing embodiment of Ayahuasca and plant healing was impressive. He was extremely helpful above and beyond anything I could have imagined…. to the point that my luggage was delayed in getting to me and Carlos met me in Iquitos to help me fill out forms and locate the bag, then accompanied myself and my travel companions by taxi to our hotel. I recieved my bag a few days later and Arith made the trip out of the jungle to return it to me! I felt safe and secure in their hands.
I had the opportunity to take part in 5 out of 6 ceremonies. Each one was different from the last. I won’t sugar coat it, the first 3 were a challenge, emotionally, physically and psychologically. I had never used any type of mind altering substances other than alcohol or weed, so to submit and trust the hallucinations and releasing control of my body was frightening. But, I was there to heal my body and avoid surgical removal of my reproductive organs. I barreled on and called on my warrior spirit to get me through to the side of healing.
I was not disappointed. The medicines that Don Ronor recommended and used for treatment were pleasant. His kindness and deep relationship with the plants amazed me. He was very compassionate. That being said, I cannot speak highly enough for our facilitators, Mike, Nick and Arith.
Each of them showed empathy, compassion and knowledge beyond their years. It was remarkable at how deeply they related to each individual participant. Nick and Mike were available 24 hours a day for support. They reached out to each individual multiple times over the days and weeks, sitting to talk, discuss symptoms or emotional challenges or just to laugh and have fun.
I deeply believe the dynamic between them was a privilege to be part of.
As a side note, each man is a very talented musician. Our group was gifted daily with beautiful guitar music and/or drumming, and magical singing. I could not have been blessed with a more sacred experience. The music carried me through some very emotional moments and comforted my heart and soul.
By the end of the retreat my heart was filled with such joy. I have made life long friends. These men and women are my soul family and I’m blessed.
After traveling back to Iquitos, Mike, Nick and Arith continued to be available to us, until our departures. The experience was incredibly safe. And all I can say is I’m sorry I missed Arith’s driving skills on the motor bike. Lol. Some day I hope to return to Chamusal. The personal growth and healing I have gained, far outweigh the challanges. Thank you to Carlos Tanner and everyone!!! Until next time. Blessed Be.

I was at the ayahuasca foundation for a month, the team where professional, kind, fun and helpful. Don Miguel and his medicines were excellent and very insightful. My experiences here are definitely the deepest I’ve ever gone with the ayahuasca and the whole experience has given me a new deep and meaningful look on my life.
This is a place of healing and salvation, my time here has changed my life for the better and I would highly recommend it for anyone looking for a professionally run healing retreat.

I spent four weeks at The Ayahuasca Foundation’s Riosbos Research Centre in March 2018. It was a wonderful experience with a supportive group and attentive leaders. The Shaman, Don Miguel, is very loving and accessible during one’s stay. He and the leaders evaluate each person individually and their treatment is tailored to their own needs. The plant medicines are skilfully and accurately prepared to address personal issues. Each ceremony is safely conducted with appropriate support and follow-up. For me, I found the “dietas” was quite profound. I often think about returning to focus on certain things and to address other issues at a deeper level. After completing the program, I felt so clear, healthy and more connected to spirit. The experience is still a big part of who I am.
I recommend this program to anyone looking for a life changing experience.

Integral, holistic and incredibly caring <3 I honestly have a hard time composing an adequate description of the time I spent with the AF, but never did I imagine to be met the way that I did here. The care, the passion, the love, the dedication and the integrity with which the work is conducted at the Ayahusaca Foundation is incredibly inspiring and has left me a transformed being. I can highly – highly recommend it! This isn't a place to go for the fireworks, this is a place for healing of the whole.
I attended their 8-week initiation course and as long with a very thorough training on how to navigate the ceremonial space and an incredible amount of personal healing – we learned a great deal about how to empower ourselves and continue the work outside of ceremony. The knowledge and ability to continue the work and to properly integrate all the lessons is incredible valuable and I feel I left with a huge briefcase of well practiced tools and a big amount of homework. Between ceremonies we worked with different kinds of plant medicine, everything adding and balancing the time their. I can highly, highly recommend this organization!
    Thank you!
