Ayahuasca Awakenings

If you’ve read the book or seen the film, you’ll know that ‘Aya: Awakenings’ takes you on a journey of shamanic discovery into the heart of the Amazon and the powerful plant medicine ayahuasca. Now you can be part of the awakening with these 10-day healing retreats with Writer-Producer Rak Razam and legendary curandero Percy Garcia Lozano.

These intensive medicine plant-retreats are held every March, June, Sept and Dec and are designed to introduce you to ayahuasca and the healing it can provide on physical, psychological and spiritual levels. You will be guided by Percy over five ayahuasca ceremonies to awaken to your own inner nature, with deep healing supported by dietas with different medicine plants and/or other healing work as needed. Percy’s shamanic work is based on high ethical standards, including personal integrity on every level. He makes a special effort to create a peaceful and safe environment in which the healing process can be more successful. Small numbers of clients enable Percy to follow and monitor the entire healing process of guests from the moment they come until the moment they leave.

Facilitator Rak Razam says: “I’m delighted to be going full circle back to where it all began to lead ayahuasca retreats under the integral guidance of curandero Percy Garcia. I want to do something very special with these retreats, and blend my own knowledge and wisdom of the ayahuasca-shamanic-resurgence with the larger process of awakening I see happening on earth. Between ceremonies I’ll be lecturing on consciousness and evolution, the Western understanding and history of altered states and the new paradigm that unifies it all. I’ll be leading group discussions for deeper integration of the process we’ll all be going through, and developing individual plans with each participant to maximize their awakening process. Special attention will be given to integration and anchoring your experiences towards meaningful change so you can return empowered and with clear direction in your life.”

The cost is for early bookings is usually US $1695 for the ten day program.

Percy has a huge ego problem that gets in the way of healing. I recommend you find another center if you want to experience plant medicine in the Iquitos area.

If i could give this more than five stars i would, this has been the greatest ten days of my life. As the greatest psychonaught of them all Terence McKenna says its all about set and setting and both Rak and the currendero Percy excel in providing the higest of standards for both of these. The grounds and facilities that this lodge are set on add something special to the whole experience, and the safety you feel in the lodge makes it so easy to do the work you are out there to do. The attention to detail is second to none. Percys dedication to his craft is mind boggling, the sacrifises this man makes have to be seen to believed and the proof of it all is in his ceremonys. Every single need is catered too and no request is turned down. I had gone out there with the intention to work with as many currenderos as i could but after the experience i had out there i know in my heart i will return time and time again to work with not only the greatest currendero i have ever met but also the greatest man i have ever met in my life. If you are looking for a safe, clean relaxing envoirnment this is the place for you. it will be the best decision of your life if you choose to go here for your exploration of the medicine that is healing the world. This place is a gift from God himself. Much love xxxx

The retreat was phenomenal albeit very challenging on an emotional/spiritual level. Percy’s center is super organized and deep enough in the jungle for someone to detach from the every day and do the hard work. Great people, brew, and I would highly recommend it for anyone that wants to get to the next level and break out of their old paradigms.

The 10 day retreat, July 2015.

I approached this retreat with suspended expectation; yet admittedly, my heart strongly craved substance and a juncture poised for true change. And I believe I received just that.

I cannot speak highly enough of Percy Garcia. His integrity is immaculate, his humility, resplendent. The combined work of Rak and Percy is an offering nothing short of true nourishment and healing for the soul.

My personal experience within ceremony was a journey that brought me back to much needed core internal issues. The medicine was ruthless yet simultaneously compassionate in its dealings, and during periods of struggle, the support of Rak and Percy was accessible, loving and strong. To have that support is vital, and it helped navigate me from ceremony to ceremony.

These five ceremonies have culminated into my ability to finally be able to speak the words, “I cannot wait to live!” Words so seemingly simple, yet words I have never been able to utter with any conviction. The gentle healing of ayahuasca has begun its deep work, and I am ever so grateful.

Thank you Rak, for all that you have done to make this possible.

In April of 2015 I participated in a 10 day Ayahuasca retreat in Iquitos, Peru organized and facilitated by Rak Razam and Meriana Dinkova. It was exactly what I had been searching for as I felt a strong calling to venture to the Amazon, to be in ceremony and to work with the medicine. For about six months prior to the retreat I had been thinking and feeling the calling and considering booking a ticket on my own, landing somewhere, and just following the calling from there as I had no connections to anyone or any particular place.
As soon as I saw the announcement for this particular retreat, and read through the very in depth description, I knew this is what I had been looking for. It was like an answer to my prayer. The first indication of that was the feeling I got while reading through the description. As a potential participant, I felt that great care and attention had been given to the concerns and overall well being of anyone who would embark on such a journey.

Within a couple of hours I was Skyping with Rak. That initial conversation affirmed my intuition that I was in good hands, that great care had been taken by experienced seekers/journeyers to insure the best possible experience. The journey had begun.

Each of the Cuerenderos we worked with were unique, genuine and operated with a high level of integrity. The ceremonies were powerful. Just what the “Doctor” ordered for yours truly. The experiences within the ceremonies varied from transcendent journeying, to personal revelations about myself and my life, to an overall feeling of physical wellness and a renewed vitality.

In between the ceremonies Rak held discussion groups and/or presentations that complimented the experiences within the ceremonies brilliantly, and further served to deepen the connection to each other as well as the medicine, spirit, the unseen and eternal, the Great Mystery of life itself.

Meriana brought some very specific and helpful tools for navigating altered realities, or how it goes for you during the course of the ceremony, that I found extremely helpful, like being given tools for building a house that you may have had a vision of, but not the tools for building.

Overall, I would recommend this retreat to anyone feeling the calling, for anyone seeking healing and connection, particularly in the realm of spirit.

I am grateful and eager to participate again.

    In Love and Gratitude,
    Scott Carroll

My first trip down to Peru was in April 2015 on this retreat. I did the research just like everyone else, and what attracted me to this retreat was the opportunity to work with multiple shamans. Considering this was my first time doing Ayahuasca I thought it was important to have a comparison between different centers to help me understand the entire process. In addition, being an intellectual westerner I felt this retreat would give me a good balance between the intellect and the spiritual side of life. Ultimately I made the right choice!

Rak and Meriana were excellent facilitators bringing to life the historical and psychotherapeutic side of Ayahuasca. They also taught much more about the spiritual awakening of the world than I felt I would have received on other retreats. They were both professional and are great souls to help guide you on your journey. They are living the path and talk from a great wealth of experience.

Overall I believe this retreat is geared for the spiritual journeyman looking to continue their learning process. People looking for healing of deep seeded issues would probably benefit from other retreats that stay at one center the entire time. My experience with Ayahuasca on this retreat was life changing and equipped me with many new perspectives and tools to bring home to the everyday world.

I endorse this retreat and highly recommend working with Rak and Meriana.

I attended two retreat while I was in Peru, this was the second. The depth of exploration and potential within the dieta practice along with the helpful staff and Rak as a great host was of true benefit to my journey there and subsequent journey in life.

There are a couple reasons I gave this retreat 4 stars instead of 5, but most of them are likely bred of western desires in a jungle retreat centre. For example, the events that happen throughout the day can be very draining when the body (if it was like mine) is in such a fragile space from the deita. Of course, they are optional and having the option was a blessing. Still I found sitting for long periods of time on wooden benches during certain lectures was really hard on my body. Had I a cushion, 5 stars.
    lol

But in all seriousness, though I dont have much to compare this too, I feel that I obtained great value from my experiences there. I would recommend it for anyone interested in exploring a deita type ayahusaca experience while remaining connected to a social sphere. Rak is a good guy, and I feel extremely grateful for having gotten to know him throughout that experience.
