Guaria de Osa Ecolodge is a wilderness retreat center, located on a pristine and remote tropical beach and rainforest paradise on the Osa Peninsula of Costa Rica, endorsed by National Geographic as “the most biologically diverse place on Earth.” Off the beaten path, accessed only by boat, with internet and powered by solar energy – we await your visit!
Experience wild tropical beaches and the rainforest in the comforts of our unique lodge, built with Amazonian and Taoist design architectural principles and surrounded by exuberant ethnobotanical gardens.
Rainforest Council Gatherings and Plant Medicine Retreats are hosted annually in January (and sometimes at other times of year) when venerated Secoya shamans from the Ecuadorian Amazon hold ceremonies at Guaria de Osa for sincere-hearted guests who seek to learn the tradition in a safe and supportive nature-full environment.
Ceremonies include three sunrise renewal ceremonies to purify and prepare the body, mind and spirit, and three full yage ceremonies when the shamans sing through the night and perform healings early in the morning.
The proprietor of the center Jonathon Miller Weisberger has a long and trusted relation with the Secoya people, working with them in their territory in Ecuador since 1994, and is author of the 2013 book “Rainforest Medicine – Preserving Indigenous Science and Biodiversity in the Upper Amazon”
While joining us, your fees support ground-level rainforest and marine turtle conservation, overseen by our sister organization Fundación OSA, known in English, as the Council for Cultural and Biological Diversity
